Car Plows Into Group Of Cyclists

If this isn’t the most disturbing picture you’ll see all week, I don’t know what is:

A car plowed into a bike race along a highway near the U.S.-Mexico border, killing one and injuring 10 others.

The 28-year-old driver was apparently drunk and fell asleep when he crashed into the race Sunday, police investigator Jose Alfredo Rodriguez said Monday.

The accident occurred during a bike race in Matamoros, Mexico, across the border from Brownsville, Texas.

Campos said he is an American citizen living in Brownsville. The U.S. Consulate could not immediately confirm that.

  1. I once did the 50-mile bike ride from Rosarita Beach to Ensenada. They routed the race right next to traffic, so it was pretty scary. About 3 miles from the end I had to lay down the bike when a car decided to pull off the road right through me.

It was fun once, but it wasn’t worth going back. Too dangerous for my taste.
