Is Chief Exec Of Dem Convention, Preacher Of Black Liberation Theology?

A long, glowing article in The NYTs entitled, “Can Leah Daughtry Bring Faith To The Democratic Party”, offered this bit of information about the woman Howard Dean has chosen to be the Chief executive of the Democrat Convention:

Behind her as she preached, a simple wooden cross hung on a brick wall in the vaulted and sizable sanctuary of the church, which is headed by her father, Herbert Daughtry. A prison convert who served time in his early 20s for armed robbery and passing bad checks, Herbert Daughtry — whose father founded the church and whose grandfather and great-grandfather were also ministers — became the church’s pastor 50 years ago, and today Leah was delivering the sermon as part of an anniversary celebration. Below the sanctuary, in the fellowship hall, a banner for slavery reparations proclaimed, “They Owe Us.”

Obama may claim he’s against reparations…but it’s safe to say that the chief exec of the Democrat Convention isn’t. What does this tell you about Democrats?

Fliers recounted Herbert Daughtry’s arrest, a few weeks earlier, as he led marchers protesting the not-guilty verdict in the police killing of Sean Bell, an unarmed black man. His ministry has always combined consuming spirituality with black liberation theology — the theology Jeremiah Wright invoked this spring to defend his controversial sermons — and zealous political activism. Leah holds these forces within her.

After the Reverend Wright fiasco, one would think that she would try to distance herself from Black Liberation Theology. But she didn’t:

“At the basis of black liberation theology is the understanding that God has a special place in His heart for those at the bottom of the ladder,” Rev. Daughtry said.

After the Reverend Wright fiasco, one would also think that Howard Dean would want to keep operatives with links to Black Liberation Theology out of positions of power. But he didn’t. Of course, Howard Dean isn’t known for being an expert in theology.

Pastor Leah Daughtry also believes that God has no problem with abortion, saying:

“God allows us to choose in the biggest matter whether to accept Him in our lives. How then can we take away choice on other profound issues?”

So…because God gives us free will, that means we are free to do anything we please? Anything? God’s cool with everything we do...as long as it’s “profound”, I guess.

This woman, who also happens to be Howard Deans Chief of Staff, is the person the Democrats think is going to help them attract religious voters. A woman with a flock of …20.

Yeah….right. “Value voters” are going to be so fooled by the quasi-religious pandering they’re going to witness at the convention, that they’re going to totally forget that Obama is the only person in Congress who doesn’t have a problem with infanticide.

Besides, Pastor Leah Daughtry says God’s cool with that.

UPDATE:

Gad.

A new children’s book has been written about Obama containing this line (warning:Hurl inducing):

Even God himself talks to Barry while he’s in church on Sunday, telling him: “Look around you. Now look to me. There is hope enough here to last a lifetime.” The heartbreaking ending reads as follows: “Barack smiled, tears rolling down his cheeks. Suddenly he knew for certain hope would last long enough for him to make a difference.”

The author, Nikki Grimes says on her website:

“I know one thing, Come November, Barack Obama has got my vote”!

No. Really?

UPDATE II:

Cool beans: The Reverend Jeremiah Wright has a book coming out also….in October….just in time for the voting public to be reminded of Obama’s past membership to TUCC, and relationship with Wright, a genuine practitioner of Black Liberation Theology.
