Speaking Of Hubris….

Does Obama have any idea how this makes him look? Do the Democrats know what they’re doing?

Democrats have begun striking coins with Barack Obama’s profile — and already proclaiming him President:

The coins already sold to the Democrats will be presented to the senators, congressmen, governors and other politicians they are being given to within the next two weeks.

There will also be a television advertising campaign launched in the US.

Let’s take a trip down Memory Lane and take a look at some more glaring examples of Obama’s hubris:

First there were the posters:

Then:

the faux-leather-bound collector’s edition DVD of the “More Perfect Union” speech. A piece of oratory ripe for canonization at the age of just three months:

then there was…

The Presidential seal:

then…

“O Force One” with the Obama logo replacing the American flag on the tail:

and the presidential chair:

then…

Obama’s speech in Berlin:

This is pretty extraordinary. A candidate for the American Presidency is using flyers printed in German to turn people out for his campaign rally in Berlin on Thursday. This flyer can be found on a bilingual page on BarackObama.com advertising the event … The German flyers bear Obama’s campaign logo and say “Paid for by Obama for America.” …

Then:

The official “Yes We Can” Obama Music CD:

And finally, The Barackopolis:

Never in the history of this country have we seen such a display of confidence, and preening narcissism in a candidate running for higher office.

It begs the question…

Why is Obama so sure of himself?

Obama’s Bizarre Statement on Ahmadinejad’s UN Remarks

What. the. hell?

Below is a Statement from Senator Barack Obama on President Ahmadinejad’s Remarks:

“I strongly condemn President Ahmadinejad’s outrageous remarks at the United Nations, and am disappointed that he had a platform to air his hateful and anti-Semitic views. The threat from Iran’s nuclear program is grave. Now is the time for Americans to unite on behalf of the strong sanctions that are needed to increase pressure on the Iranian regime.

Is this the same guy who not too long ago said that as President, he would meet unconditionally with Ahmadinejad? Now, all of a sudden, he’s John Bolton’s mustache on steroids?

It’s sure getting crowded under that bus.

Okay…here’s where it gets really confusing:

“Once again, I call upon Senator McCain to join me in supporting a bipartisan bill to increase pressure on the Iranian regime by allowing states and private companies to divest from companies doing business in Iran.

The security of our ally Israel is too important to play partisan politics, and it is deeply disappointing that Senator McCain and a few of his allies in Congress feel otherwise,” said Senator Barack Obama.

Anybody know what the hell he’s talking about? He brought up this “bipartisan bill” when he spoke before AIPAC back in June:

I introduced legislation over a year ago that would encourage states and the private sector to divest from companies that do business in Iran. This bill has bipartisan support, but for reasons that I’ll let him explain, Senator McCain never signed on. Meanwhile, an anonymous Senator is blocking the bill. It is time to pass this into law so that we can tighten the squeeze on the Iranian regime. We should also pursue other unilateral sanctions that target Iranian banks and assets.

In July, Senators Christopher Dodd, and Richard Shelby cranked out an improved bipartisan bill that expanded sanctions against Iran:

Says Dodd: “Iran’s missile tests last week underscore its serious threat to our allies and interests in the region. This bipartisan bill strengthens economic sanctions against Iran, and authorizes divestment from companies that do business with Iran’s key oil sector to increase pressure on its government to meet the demands of the international community.  It also helps to prevent the illegal diversion of sensitive U.S. technologies to Iran.”

Later that week, when he was in Israel, Obama made that memorable gaffe where he claimed he was on the Banking Committee:

Responding to an Israeli reporter’s question Wednesday on his commitment to protect the Jewish state, Barack Obama pointed to a bill “we passed” in the U.S. Senate Banking Committee that tightens sanctions and authorizes divestment from Iran.

“Just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee – which is my committee – a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon,” Obama said at a press conference in Sderot, Israel.

Later his campaign said he meant it was his bill. He was tired. But it wasn’t his bill. It was the Dodd-Shelby Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act of 2008 which contains some provisions of the bill submitted by Obama.

Now we find:

On September 11, 2008, Senators Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and Richard Shelby (R-AL) submitted their “Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act of 2008” as an amendment (S.AMDT.5485) to the Fiscal Year 2009 Nation Defense Authorization Act (S. 3001).

It is unclear whether the Senate will consider the amendment. According to an article in CongressNow, “Democrats may delay consideration of the Defense authorization bill until next week after gridlock on amendments stalled progress on the legislation” on September 11. Although Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) had hoped to finish the bill by yesterday,

So now, he has the nerve to chastise Senators for their Senate wrangling, after taking  credit for the legislation coming out of “his” committee, back in July?

Hubris.
