Joe The Plummer Story Exposes Gross Media Double Standard

A citizen on a rope line, picked at random by The One to ask a question manages to put forth a question that exposes the Marxist tendencies of said One.

All hell breaks loose.

He becomes an instant You-tube star, is invited to be a guest on talk shows, and is even mentioned (repeatedly) during the final Presdential debate by both candidates.

He is lauded by McCain at his rallies, and mocked by Obama at his.

A new contagion is identified: Joe The Plumber Derangement Syndrome; JTPDS:

Reporters begin digging furiously into his background, and tax records, plumbing credentials, what-have-you. The man must be destroyed. He dared to question the One. Therefore, he is a danger to him, much like Sarah Palin is,  who also must be destroyed. Therefore, reporters, many of whom are no doubt fresh off the investigative beat in Alaska, start snooping into Joe the Plumbers affairs. They hit pay-dirt!:

Wurzelbacher registered as an apprentice with the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council in November 2003, according to Dennis Evans, spokesman with the Department of Job and Family Services. Records show his training, which was sponsored by A & W Newell Co. of Toledo, should have wrapped last year.

“We don’t have a record of completion,” Evans said. “All we know is that he registered in the program and has gone through to the point where we should have record of completion, but we don’t.”

And that’s not the only record that’s missing from Wurzelbacher’s file. He doesn’t have a plumbing license required by the city of Toledo to practice, according to a staffer with the Toledo Division of Building Inspection. Wurzelbacher, who now works for Newell Plumbing & Heating Co., said the owner, Al Newell, has a plumbing license and that “because he works for someone else, he doesn’t need a license.”

But even that’s not true, according to the Toledo Division of Building Inspection. Wurzelbacher can’t legally do plumbing work without a license, regardless of his boss’s certification.

A staff person with the Toledo Division of Building Inspection told On Call this afternoon that her division will contact Wurzelbacher to notify him that he can’t work without a license.

“We’re trying to track him down,” she said.

In the meantime, the Democrat-friendly local plumbers’ union is fuming.

“He has no license whatsoever with the city of Toledo,” said Tom Joseph, the business manager for Local Union 50 of the Plumbers, Steamfitters and Service Mechanics, which has endorsed Obama. “He has no license in the state of Ohio. He has no contractor’s license in the state of Ohio. He is not a plumber. He works for a plumber.

Also:

His boss’s business probably doesn’t bring in anywhere near $250,000 a year so he should stop dreaming about turning it into one that does and what that might mean for his taxes. Which should be easy enough; he’ll probably be out of work soon anyway.

Also:

According to court records, creditors have secured at least two liens against [Joe the Plumber] Wurzelbacher, whose legal name is Samuel. Ohio has a $1,182 lien for owed taxes and St. Charles Mercy Hospital has filed a 2007 lien for $1,261.

My, what a great service the media is providing for the Republic, by exposing this nasty Rethuglican and destroying his career. We can all breathe a big sigh of relief…safe as we are, from the wiles of this dangerous rube.

Why would we expect a similar anal exam of Obama or any of his questionable supporters, who include washed up terrorists, assorted commies, and radicals? Or even a similar examination of the Treasurer of Obama’s campaign, who also has tax liens?

That wouldn’t be providing a service to the Republic. No. Obama’s “willing accomplices in the media” believe it is for our own good that certain stories not see the light of day. They know what’s best for us.

Thanks, MSM!

UPDATE:

Shucks! Listen to this guy. He says it all better than I ever could:

Thanks to Ace, who shares his thoughts:

This guy seems blue collar, like that imbecile Joe the Plumber, so I assume “elites” were around to explain to his ig’rant ass how to turn on the picture-gizmo, and how to move his face-hole to make word-sounds come out, and how to refrain from fun-touching his daddy-stick for a full five minutes.

Yep.

  1. The sole intent of the Obamabots and their allies in the media is to stifle dissent, plain and simple. This is a preview of what life would be under an Obama administration, may God help us. The leftists are fond of saying “Bush-Hitler”? How about “Obama-Hitler”.

Prepare for a new, extended “Fairness Doctrine”, folks. None dare challenge the “ultimate truth” of Our Leader – lest you be investigated and ruined in public.

  2. Dunno, Deb. For sure I am not about to keep MY mouth shut, no matter what they try to pull. Until such time as the First Amendment is deemed “null and void”, they can stick their fairness doctrine where the sun doesn’t shine. AFAIK, for now the previous FD applied only to commercial outlets. Who knows what they’ll try if he wins.

  3. This is ridiculous. I’m so sick of hearing Obama and the media destroyed an innocent man. Please! McCain used this man to further his campaign without validating his statements. The media is there to determine who is misleading us. Their job is to find the truth. They did! Live with it. If he feels violated, blame McCain’s camp for thrusting him into the spotlight and the conservative yahoos online for making him out to be a hero without checking his story.
Open your mind to other information sources besides conservative regurgitation tanks.

  4. You have GOT to be kidding me. The man simply asked a question. A tough one, (that the media, whose “job is to find the truth) haven’t asked, because they already know the answer, and the don’t want it to expose their man.

What is not true about Joe the Plumber’s story? He’s a plumber, just as he said he was. He would like to open up his own business, like he said he would.

But but but…..he has a TAX LIEN!!!!!

You know who else has a tax lien?

Martin Nesbitt, the treasurer of Obama’s campaign, has tax liens. So do his companies.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2008/10/17/guess-who-else-has-tax-liens/

You’d think that matters more than the tax liens of Joe the Plumber, wouldn’t you? But good luck finding a Big Media story about Nesbitt’s liens.

If tax liens are such an indicator of character and trustworthiness, wouldn’t it have more significance for the treasurer of a presidential campaign than for a man who just asked a question of the candidate? If the national media has such an interest in investigating a plumber who made a couple of national appearances, why wouldn’t they have at least the same interest in the people running a major party presidential campaign? Of course not. The same people who instruct us that Barack Obama’s 20-year membership in Jeremiah Wright’s church while Wright called 9/11 “chickens coming home to roost” now interrogate Joe the Plumber on national TV about his brief flirtation with the Natural Law Party.

Because, you know, associations matter when choosing a plumber, but apparently not when choosing a President.

  5. That’s because Obama or McCain did not make Martin Nesbitt a major selling point of anyone’s campaign. When John McCain tried to relate to the common voter, common taxpayer by using Joe as an example, you bring his relevancy under scrutiny.

If Obama made a point of saying my campaign manager is a ‘Martin the Manager’ type and he gets a tax break… yeah the media would dive into his taxes and personal life and rip it apart because he was made out to be an example… a campaign tool.

You make someone your flag bearer (regardless as to their willingness), people will justify that person’s relevancy and the benefit it brings to your campaign.

The media has done absolutely nothing this campaign cycle to make us actually believe they would do anything of the sort. If you don’t see the the blatant media bias, and double standard others (some even on your side see),

  7. Don’t get me wrong… I look at things with the most balanced viewpoint I possibly can. I’m not perfect, and I don’t think many other people are either.

The coverage of John McCain has been decidedly negative. While I feel that is unfair, the organization that prepared the study one of your links references does mentions that it has been a tendency in recent Politics that media coverage gets more negative based on up or down movement in the polls. I think this has a lot to do with a trailing candidates need to be an initiator of news and not a reactor to news. A simple political strategy that someone behind in the polls must face. Often times this has bitten McCain in the…. Well you get the point. I think that has caused the spirally effect of attention he has received. I agree with you, this is not good.

But one of the things you hear a lot is that Obama gets unduly favorable treatment. This I don’t see as much. That same study showed that he had fairly balanced positive/negative/neutral numbers. All within about 7 point of each other. I think his lower negative numbers are a byproduct of having the luxury of being ahead in the polls and not having to be as reactionary to short-term news trends. He was definitely the darling of the media during the primaries, but that has diminished just as it did for John McCain in the 2000 election.

I hope you see my point on the Joe issue. I don’t like that he is in the spotlight either, but if he is made to be an example, the media, the campaigns and we as voters have duty to do our due diligence and vet those claims. That’s my point…. As a great man once said…. Trust and Verify.

“vet those claims?” Which claims in particular? He didn’t say, “I’m a licensed plumber with no tax liens,” he said, “I’m an ambitious plumber who doesn’t like your tax plan.”

And speaking of tax liens, don’t forget Al Franken.

  10. When the media looks as hard at Obama’s friends, neighbors, associates, aquaintences, “guys” he knows, and mentors, and asks appropriate follow up questions, and compairs the answers to Obama’s records and statements, then I will buy into the legitimacy of what they did to Joe. But then, it would also be a non-issue since the ONE wouldn’t be able to get elected dogcatcher.
