Aerosmith Axeman Joe Perry Comes Out For McCain

Awwwwwesome:

Aerosmith has generally left the politics to bands like U2 and the Dixie Chicks, but axeman Joe Perry says national security and economic woes have prompted him to split from the rest of the entertainment world and throw his support behind John McCain.

“We pretty much stay out of it, but seeing so many people come out for Obama, I just felt like ‘What the hell, I might as well raise my hand for this side,” Perry said from his Duxbury home.

He’s not a new recruit either, he’s a lifelong Republican:

“I’ve been a hardcore Republican my whole life,” he told the Herald. “My mother and father drilled into me from the very start that if you work hard and be positive, you’ll get what you’re working for. I guess I’m living proof of that.”

Here’s Perry’s Rock Your World Website.

Here are some other well known rockers who vote Republican:

Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Foghat, Charlie Daniels, Johnny Ramone, Ted Nugent and Kid Rock.

Rock on dudes!

  1. My mother and father drilled into me from the very start that if you work hard and be positive, you’ll get what you’re working for. I guess I’m living proof of that.

Got the same exact message from my folks. Years ago while working in social ministry I started sensing that much (not all) of poverty is rooted in poverty of the mind.

  2. In MA, we have this quaint tradition called the town meeting. It goes back to the pilgrims and stuff. Every year small towns all over New England get together and do raw democracy for a day or two.

A couple years ago, I was headed out the door for a smoke break after hours of listening to debates over endless minutiae in the town grammar school auditorium and who did I happen to see? My neighbor, Joe Perry. Joe was there to help support his wife who was on the board raising money for the town library.

Me (holding the door open) Hey Joe.

Joe (in black and leather in a town full of of J Crew) Hey man, what’s up?

Joe is pretty private as you can imagine, his wife is a hot shit. A conservative soccer/education mom.

    Not surprised at all.

  3. Oh yea, I should have added, I felt like a 12 year old starstruck goon. We don’t run in the same circles.

But around the town he and his wife are known as very cool and very conservative people, hard as that may seem to believe.
