Introducing: The Endive

I’m adding a new conservative leaning blog to my blogroll called The Endive. The posts appear to be satire in the same vein as The Onion….but I’m not sure…it’s so hard to tell, anymore.

For example, I was totally fooled by this Onion spoof:

See what I mean? I could totally see that happening! The Obama worship has become so absurd, it’s hard to spoof.

But I think The Endive is going to try, and is getting off to a …. start:

President-elect Barack Obama was visibly in tears yesterday as he took his final dump in Chicago before moving to D.C.

“I didn’t want to flush it,” said Michelle Obama, First Lady-elect and Barack’s designated flusher, “It was tall and wrinkly, just like Magic Johnson, and I just couldn’t let it go.”

Renowned Domestic Terrorist Prevented From Entering Canada

I bet the earrings tipped the border patrol off:

“I don’t know why I was turned back,” Ayers said in an interview this morning from Chicago. “I got off the plane like everyone else and I was asked to come over to the other side. The border guards reviewed some stuff and said I wasn’t going to be allowed into Canada. To me it seems quite bureaucratic and not at all interesting … If it were me I would have let me in. I couldn’t possibly be a threat to Canada.”…

[Jeffrey Kugler, executive director of the Centre for Urban Schooling,] waited for five hours at the Toronto Island airport for Ayers. He was with a lawyer, but the border guard refused to allow Ayers to see the lawyer.

“The entire four or five hours he was not allowed to have representation at all. To me this is an issue of academic freedom. He could not be a threat to anyone ever. Anyone who knows anything about this man – he’s a distinguished scholar at the University of Illinois and he has been involved in education reform over the past 15 years. To imagine in any way he was a threat to Canada is really absurd.”

Not a threat to anyone ever? This was an lawyer speaking? The man is a proud radical, self described “small c communist” and unrepentant terrorist. That should have real world ramifications. The fact that he has power and influence in the education system here in America is a travesty. Good for Canada for allowing sanity and common sense to win the day.

Republicans Not Fighting

We are so screwed Part 784:

Republicans are rolling over like puppies for Obama/Reid/Pelosi. Redstate says Mitch McConnell is leading the retreat:

The idea that Mitch McConnell is protecting us from the Democrats is bullcrap.  We should collectively rip off his jaw and shovel the crap back down his throat that he’s been serving us.

Example 1:

McConnell has today allowed Harry Reid to move forward with the Lands Bill despite Tom Coburn’s hold on it.

Example 2:

McConnell will not fight for hunters rights on public land with regard to the Lands Bill.

Example 3:

McConnell will not even show up on Sunday to vote on the Lands Bill.

Example 4:

McConnell is not fighting Reid on throwing Coburn off the Judicial Committee and is already planning on caving to Reid’s demands to seriously cut the number of Republican Senators on Committees — an action that will significantly impact conservative senators.

Example 5:

McConnell privately told Republican senators this week that he will not publicly fight Barack Obama’s economic agenda.

And so on and so on and so on…

I read somewhere…that the Republicans were planning to pick and choose their fights carefully. I hope and pray that they eventually find something worth fighting for.

Dalai Lama Says Non Violence Doesn’t Work With Terrorists

The Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989:

New Delhi: The Dalai Lama, a lifelong champion of non-violence candidly stated that terrorism cannot be tackled by applying the principle of ahimsa because the minds of terrorists are closed. “It is difficult to deal with terrorism through non-violence,”the Tibetan spiritual leader said delivering the Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Lecture here. He termed terrorism as the worst kind of violence which is not carried by a few mad people but by those who are very brilliant and educated. “They (terrorists) are very brilliant and educated…but a strong ill feeling is bred in them. Their minds are closed,” the Dalai Lama said. He said the only way to tackle terrorism is through prevention.

Like….Preemptive strikes? If that doesn’t make liberal  heads explode, there’s always this:

The head of the Tibetan government-in-exile left the audience stunned when he said “I love President George W Bush.” He went on to add how he and the US President instantly struck a chord in their first meeting unlike politicians who take a while to develop close ties.

The Dalai Lama is obviously a good judge of character. I wonder what he thinks of Obama.
