Nancy Pelosi:Senate Must Pass Recovery Package Or 500 Million Americans Will Lose Their Jobs

Holy crow. The economy is worse than I thought, considering the entire population of the US is only 304 mil. According to her calculations, all working Americans will be losing their jobs, getting new ones, and then losing them again…and again:

Exit Question: Is Nancy Pelosi really as dumb as soap? I don’t know…ask Baby Duh.

UPDATE:

Believe it or not, Speaker Pelosi made this same goof on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace on January 18:

From the transcript:

PELOSI: Well, I believe that — I know that President-elect Obama is a strong supporter of America’s workers. I myself am a strong supporter of that legislation. We passed it with a strong vote in the House in the last Congress, and I continue to be supportive of it.

But in terms of what we have to do in the first 100 days, we must address the needs of this country. Five hundred million people will lose their jobs each month until we have an economic package.

WALLACE: No, 500,000.

PELOSI: What did I say, million?

WALLACE: Yes, 500 million. That would really be a recession.

Thanks to Geoff for digging that up.

Mark Steyn subbing for Rush, this morning, just quipped that 500 million would be one helluva soup line.

Daschle Withdraws!

Obama Health Care

How awkward!

This makes two Obama Cabinet appointees to withdraw in one day:

Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination to be Health and Human Services secretary.

That’s according to a joint White House statement from President Barack Obama and his former nominee.

Obama said Tuesday he accepted the withdrawal “with sadness and regret.”

Daschle has been battling for his nomination since it was disclosed he failed to pay more than $120,000 in taxes.

He said he’s withdrawing because he’s not a leader who has the full faith of Congress and will be a distraction.

When the Gray Lady called for his withdrawal, the writing was on the wall.

Earlier today, Chief Performance Officer appointee, Nancy Killefer withdrew because of her own tax evasion issue.

What’s going on, here? First Geithner, then Killefer and Daschle…what’s wrong with the White House vetters? Were they so confident in the wind at Obama’s back that they figured it would have been enough to blow them past these problems?

It was already asking a lot to have people accept a tax cheat for Secretary of the Treasury. Two more was asking too much.

Oops…looks like this photo from a recent Vanity Fair spread needs to be cropped.

STILL MORE:

Larry Kudlow:

Now that Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination for health secretary because of his failure to pay taxes, and Nancy Killefer, who was appointed chief performance officer and deputy OMB director, has also withdrawn because of non-payment of taxes, it is time for Treasury secretary Timothy Geithner to do exactly the same.

Geithner never answered the question put to him by senators Kyl and Bunning: Would he have paid his back taxes if he were not nominated to run the Treasury? His issue has never been resolved. He will never have the full trust of the country.

UPDATE:

I agree with The New Editor who lists the many missteps made by Obama since his inauguration:

The first couple of weeks of the Obama Administration has simply reinforced my stated belief that the Obama campaign and subsequent election represents the biggest, most successful political con of my lifetime.

Yep.

Obama Change: Hail To The Chief Replaced With Piano Tunes

Tim Graham at Newsbusters calls this “Informality Excess”:

Veteran CBS Radio White House correspondent Mark Knoller reports that President Obama is relaxing more than the dress code at the presidential mansion. Pomp is giving way to piano-bar pop:

On Day One of his presidency, everywhere Mr. Obama went they played “Hail to the Chief” for him – but not since. In fact the U.S. Marine Band’s duties at the White House over the last 10 days appear to have been dramatically downsized.

Instead of the usual contingent of trumpets, tubas and drums, a single piano player now provides musical interludes before and after the president’s appearance.

And the tunes have little connection to the military marching music of John Phillips Souza [sic] that is the usual accompaniment to presidential appearances. These days the pianist’s repertoire includes Cole Porter’s “Night and Day” and Sting’s “Desert Rose.”

“He’s not a ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ kind of guy,” says press secretary Robert Gibbs of the new president.

In case you’re not familiar with Sting’s Desert Rose, (which features Algerian-born raï singer singer Cheb Mami singing in Arabic), here’s the video:

That is one of the songs that has replaced, this:

Is it “sour grapes” to suspect that  Obama has a distaste for long standing traditions and patriotic music?

PBS Host: “Obama The First True American To Lead Our Nation”

Oh, what-ever!:

Partial transcript:

Obama is the more perfect union. He is a house united. Obama is the New Generation and the hot light of a dawn that goes way beyond clever talk of morning in America.

Quite simply, quite plainly, just by virtue his being, Obama is America. The first true American to lead our nation.

Can I speak plainly, too? What the hell were all those other guys who occupied the White House before Obama if not, “true Americans”.

What nerve.

Even more disturbing if that’s possible:

Like minded Obama sycophants can combine their photos with Obama’s to make the ultimate Obot statement:

obama-moonbat-faces

From the Detroit Free Press:

You can help build our gallery of faces from people who see a part of President Barack Obama in themselves.

We’ve got a photo of Obama you can cut out for yourself — click here to download it. Then follow the instructions, take a picture and send it to us here. Tell us what part of Obama is in you and we’ll add your comments to your photo.

Good lord, people…
