It’s been one foreign policy blunder after another with this guy. Is this what people voted for? Did liberals really think that it would be a good idea to negotiate with terrorists? Because even the terrorists don’t think so:
KABUL (Reuters) – Afghanistan’s Taliban on Tuesday turned down as illogical U.S. President Barack Obama’s bid to reach out to moderate elements of the insurgents, saying the exit of foreign troops was the only solution for ending the war.
Obama, in an interview with the New York Times, expressed an openness to adapting tactics in Afghanistan that had been used in Iraq to reach out to moderate elements there.
“This does not require any response or reaction for this is illogical,” Qari Mohammad Yousuf, a purported spokesman for the insurgent group, told Reuters when asked if its top leader Mullah Mohammad Omar would make any comment about Obama’s proposal.
“The Taliban are united, have one leader, one aim, one policy…I do not know why they are talking about moderate Taliban and what it means?”
“If it means those who are not fighting and are sitting in their homes, then talking to them is meaningless. This really is surprising the Taliban.”
If you remember, Iran responded with similar contempt for Obama’s overtures in January:
US President Barack Obama’s offer to talk to Iran shows that America’s policy of “domination” has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.
“This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed,” Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
“Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change,” he added.
RELATED EMBARRASSMENT:
Obama’s attempts to deal with the Russians vis a vis the missile defense system, falls flat:
Medvedev is happy to talk about dismantling the missile defense system, but won’t “haggle” with Obama over Iran. Deutsche Welle.
Sounds like that’s one bad idea blowing up in the new guy’s face before it gets off the ground. I believe Ivan is dissing 44. To put it in more diplomatic terms, Ivan is signaling that from his perspective, 44 has diplomatically signalled a desire to be his bitch.
This, on top of the Obama’s mortifying faux pas during the Gordon Brown visit. Gad, I thought Obama was supposed to be repairing our damaged reputation throughout the world. Instead, he’s making us a laughingstock.
With Bush, the world may have hated us, but they respected us.

I wonder how long before the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan is taken over by the Taliban?

I thought this man would be another Bill Clinton. I was wrong. He is far, far worse. In the parallel universe he has lived in all his life, he could pretend that reality was not what the rest of us said it was. I thought he was just talking, but his actions prove he has no clue what he is doing, just like Bill did not. He is Bill Clinton on steroids.

as my friend LtCol Rick Francona said in a recent open letter to Obama:
“Mr. President, you are the Commander in Chief of the most powerful, best-trained and best-equipped armed forces on the planet. The America people paid for this capability – use it. The Taliban are our enemy – you cannot negotiate with them, they are true believers in a bastardized concept of religion.
Order our troops to hunt them down and kill them.”

full disclosure: i first met Rick in 1978, and we belong to some of the same veteran and intel groups. as far as i know, he is THE expert on all things Middle East. if he says “hunt them down and kill them” then that is exactly what we should do. no equivocations. no half-stepping. no quarter. no mercy.

Uh Yeah – one sexy speech. one right after another – didn’t matter what he said they just saw his lips moving. Hopefully this one finds a quick death or gets shelved for a long time. When it comes to problems I’d rather have my family alive. BhO attempts this and another attack happens we might just have another episode of 24 season 7 on our hands again.

A moderate taliban is one that will allow you to call your family before they chop your head off, instead of video taping the event. It seems pretty moderate to me.
Incompetent, idiot, boobs running our government. Sleep tight!
