Stop The Scandal: Obama Invited To Notre Dame Commencement

obama-notre-dame

Obama is easily the most radical, pro abortion President, this nation has ever elected, having voted 4 times against a bill to protect babies born as a result of botched abortions, while he was in the IL legislature.

Cardinal James Francis Stafford, head of the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Holy See, criticized Obama as “aggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic.

He predicted a “time of trial” for Americans with the election of Obama.

The Vatican has said that Obama signing the Freedom of Choice Act (which he has promised to do) “would be the equivalent of a war.”

The Vatican also sharply criticized Obama for his executive order to overturn the ban on state funding for overseas abortions.

Archbishop Chaput warned of the “spirit of adulation” that surrounds Obama. He also lamented the election of Obama, scolding Catholics:

“November showed us that 40 years of American Catholic complacency and poor formation are bearing exactly the fruit we should have expected. Or to put it more discreetly, the November elections confirmed a trend, rather than created a new moment, in American culture.”

So why oh why would a Catholic University invite such a person to deliver their Commencement speech, when his core values, and sensibilities so profoundly conflict with the Catholic Church’s?

  1. Notre Dame has long been another battleground of the Culture Wars, this one waged on a Catholic institution. I had hoped it would’ve subsided by now, but apparently not. I shall pray for our nation.

  2. Betty, in response to your question I would like to say that there is a difference between those of us who are truly trying to live out our Catholic faith and those who have become Cafeteria Catholics — picking and choosing what to believe. Rest assured, this is not an act which represents the belief and true desire of all Catholics. You should simply be asking, “Why has Fr. Jenkins decided not to uphold our Catholic teaching. Why is he compromising?” Please do not lump all of us into one catergory.

  4. I think that it is HIGHLY amusing that the Catholic church is SO “pro-life’ that they would allow a man who was a member of the Nazi party, a person who allowed a Holocaust denying priest a place in the faith AND a faith that signed the death warrant for millions of Jews and others deemed “undesireable” along with Adolph Hitler.

SO do NOT call yourselves “pro-life” for you may lie to yourselves, but you CAN NOT lie to the rest of the WORLD!!

  6. Dear Rosie,
“Cafeteria Catholics — picking and choosing what to believe”
I love the disparaging remarks – “God forbid” that we should logically, rationally or intelligently pick ourr beliefs – surely blind faith has servered us better through mankinds history.

  7. Choose to believe what you want to believe, but don’t call yourself a practicing Catholic if your beliefs deviate significantly from what the Church teaches.

  8. I do not believe Obama should have been invited to Notre Dame Commencement. I believe he has proven himself to be a national disgrace. And, I believe it will be a mark on the history of Notre Dame which will be difficult to erase. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop Obama’s visit, or the dis-honorary degree he will receive.
