Bombshell: Sarah Palin To Resign

She’s stepping down from the AK Governorship and making way for the Lt Governor July 25!

Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor’s Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks on Saturday, July 25, Palin said.

There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Palin made the announcement flanked by Parnell and most, if not all, of her cabinet.

Possible reasons for this development? Conservatives are tweeting that it could be health issues, some brewing scandal, or she’s “gearing up” for the 2012 Presidential  campaign.

It doesn’t seem like a great political move, to me. Why so fast?

I think she was just worn down…sick of having a target on her back. She can go out now, and start earning some money to pay for her legal bills. Congratulations libs.

UPDATE:

Via Melissa Tweets: JUST IN — Sources close to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin tell MSNBC that she is “out of politics for good.”

Just as I suspected…she got sick of the bullshit.

Again, congratulations libs.

UPDATE II:

Here is her resignation speech:

Text here.

UPDATE III:

Wow, they’re staying classy in libland: naturally lib bloggers  feel duty-bound to handle this news with their distinctive brand of  contempt for strong conservative women, large families, and babies they think should have been aborted,  but this Huffpo blogger goes far beyond the call of duty:

Via Heaven Better Have Light Sabers, we find a Huffpo article titled, “Palin Will Run in ’12 on More Retardation Platform.” reads as follows:

In Sarah Palin’s resignation announcement she complained about the treatment of her son Trig who always teaches her life lessons. She said that the “world needs more Trigs, not fewer.” That’s a presidential campaign promise we can all get behind. She will be the first politician to actually try to increase the population of retarded people.

To me, it’s kinda like saying the world needs more cancer patients because they teach us such personal lessons.

Her first act as President: To introduce a Pre-K lunch buffet that includes lead paint chips. Sort of a Large HEAD-START Program.

She will then encourage women to hold off on pregnancies until their 40’s just to mix up some chromosomes.

She now is in favor of abortion only in case of diploid birth.
Her policies will increase jobs because Wal-Mart is building new stores each day and someone has to be the greeter.

It goes on. Funny stuff, huh?

No?

How about the fact that the author looks just like the fat kid in the Numa Numa Yei video? Yeah, that’s kinda funny.

American Power has more Leftist reaction to Palin’s resignation.

Mark Levin has a short but sweet post at the Corner:

Palin is running for president, get used to it.

  2. I think everyone is misinterpreting the direction she intends to travel. It didn’t sound to me like she was giving up. I suggest that her sights are not on the White House in 2012 but in reinvigorating the conservative base and destroying the liberal agenda. She will no longer be tied up with frivolous ethics violations suits because as a private citizen she can go on the attack against Obama & Co in unrestricted mode.
Liberals feared her while she was in office, I think they will rue the day the sicced their cronies on her and freed her from constraint. Think of Rush Limbaugh,
Think of Sarah Palin. 20000 came to hear her talk after the election in upstate NY recently. 100 people showed up for Joe Biden in Erie PA. Liberals beware!

  4. I watched Sarah Palin wave the white flag of surrender from the governor’s mansion today. I guess all those “real responsibilities” of being a governor were too much. Quitter.

  5. This is basically a copy of what I said at The Hostages, where this is being debated, but Cathy encouraged me to repeat it here.

I thought her explanation of the resignation on her official website was awesome. I was moved.

Now, she either retreats into private life, or she does what she says she is going to do — keep on fighting, and support others.

That means, basically, that she makes a ton of appearances in support of Republicans in the upcoming Congressional elections. She uses her star power to help them raise money. She collects chips. She also forms a PAC and starts collecting money with lucrative speaking engagements.

I think Sarah knows exactly what she wants to do, and she can’t do it as Governor of Alaska. She’s looking at Obama, she’s looking at the weak Republican field, she’s looking at tea parties and unemployment data and the general fear of the public, and she smells blood on the water.

Could be wrong, but I think she is a very smart and very ambitious politician. And I agree with an earlier comment [at The Hostages] — she needs advisors, not “handlers.”

She did not appear in Runners World looking hot by accident. She’s poking the MSM in the eye.

  6. I think SHE is NOT GIVING UP! What a Lady. She is smart, decent and unconventional. Her timing is P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

What a GIFT to us. Such character! SHE KNOWS she is a gift to us. And her timing about her stepping down is symbolic, I think, because tomorrow is our day to celebrate our Liberty. AND now we can also celebrate our SARAH PALIN!! I know the Tea Parties are going to be all that more celebratory because of this.

Mark Levin is spending much of his 3-hour radio show today discussing this, and lots of the folks calling in on the radio program are seeing this the same way Michael and I are — very positively. Levin has been expressing a lot of respect for Palin — but he is tempered enough to hold back a tad on his full all out support. Good for him. He also thinks she is preparing for the bigger challenges and possibly running for the presidency. What a gift Mark Levin is to us also.

Palin is a major political influence here in America and she knows she can effect healthy and positive change. She even said this in her speech that she is going to support those she sees who are running (the “good guys”) who need her support to get re-elected or into office. Her popularity makes her almost a Rock Star. And this announcement, while lots of the libs are off to their snooty snobby get-away vacation spots for the long weekend, are wetting their pants right now. *snigger* She made my weekend.

God Bless America. And God Bless Sarah Palin.

    It’s only begun…

Like Michael said: …she smells blood on the water. SARAH-BARRACUDA!

*Okay. I know it’s sharks that smell blood in the water — but give me an effin’ break. I’m excited.*

  7. Yeah, the more I think of it, the more I see it as only a positive. I don’t know if she’ll be ready or able to run for the Presidency in 2012, but she’s a great spokesperson for the GOP.

  8. Speaking of the Runners World photoshoot . . .

Let’s be frank about this, Palin is throwing down the sexuality card. I respect her for that. She’s not going to pretend that she’s not hot. She’s being who she is. She has an attactive husband, and everyone pretty much figures that they probably fuck like crazy.

Did that hurt JFK, or Obama? Nooooo.

Of course, it drives the libs and feminists batshit crazy. Does that bother Palin? Nooooo. They are not going to vote for her anyway.

Back to the issue of Palin. It’s the strategy. A GOOD Strategy! She can start the run, and we’ll see where it goes. For now, I’m ok with that.

    She’s young.

Let’s say she runs, she loses to Mitt or someone in the primaries, she gets the VP slot on a “unity ticket,” they beat Obama, eight years later she has grey hair and is an “elder statesman” who becomes the first female President.

Her credentials sure would be a lot more convincing than Hillary in the last election.

  11. We don’t need Rock stars! We need moral, well educated, superbly prepared, intelligent and articulate politicians who care more about America and Americans than the banks, churches, insurance companies, drug manufactures and the military industrial complex (to name a few) who donate to their political campaigns. After watching Mrs. Palin very closely for the past several months (in all media), I still think she’s an ignorant, poorly prepared politician who wasted an excellent political opportunity and severely damaged the McCain campaign. She was a gift. A gift to Obama, assuring his landslide victory!

  12. Bull, Solomon, she breathed life into his near-dead campaign. She excited the base, and terrified her political enemies.

She will probably be more useful to us now as a fund-raiser…

Pssst: How do I make my flag counter bigger to show all my flags?

Go to the Flag Counter text box in your sidebar and hit Edit. Look at the HTML code and change the “Maxflags=” value to a bigger number. Right now it’s at the default value of 50. Go for 200. There are only 194 countries on the planet. You do not have a moral obligation to conserve space on Flag Counter’s servers.

  14. Click Dashboard/Click Widgets (under Appearance)/Click the Down arrow at the right of the Flag Counter text box header/look at HTML text/change maxflags value to 200 (I think the largest value they allow is 212 or something like that), scroll down and CLICK SAVE

    You’re done.

  16. Following the surprise Palin announcement, website supporters are gathering across the nation to support Sarah Palin for President in 2012 can be found online at http://www.palin4pres2012.com

Our the website is in danger of crashing due to the flood of readers and supporters signing up to show their interest in a Palin Candidacy. The GOP establishment had better watch out, Sarah Palin and Ron Paul combined with the power of the internet will remove the stranglehold of GOP special interests and the elites who have brought the party to its knees in defeat in the 2008 elections.

    Like a bloodied warrior,
    laying broken and torn.

Like a dying soldier, hopeless and forlorn.

But the blood, it be green,
    the color of money.

And the soldier is an economy,
and it is anything but funny.

Broken are it’s people and shattered are their dreams.

Thanks to the ultra rich and their full proof schemes.

It is a tragedy with more pain to come.
