UPDATE: This post was for the 2009 4th of July tea party. For info on the 2010 tea party, go here.
Tea parties have been planned in 1,468 cities, today…check interactive map, here for a city near you.
There are three events in the Kansas City area that I know of:
Here’s some info about the Kansas city American celebration via The Kansas City Tea Party Website:
July 4 Independence Day
An American Celebration
Time: 9:00-10:00 am
Location: Stateline Rd. (Leawood, KS and Kansas City, MO) both sides of street from 125th to 135th Street, with overflow going north of 125th street.
The organizers want you to feel free to express yourself:
First Amendment
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Therefore Kansas City Tea Party will honor this insight and your right to freedom of speech. Keeping that in mind it is important to us that everyone that wants to attend do what their conscience dictates. With that said Kansas City Tea Party would like you to join us and celebrate our great nations founding along with your signs of grievance with our government.
You can get free graphics for your signs, (like the ones pictured, below) here.

I am just as mad as the rest of Americans.
Our socialist government is spending money like there was no end
It’s time to bring and end to the word “public”
An end to public health care
An end to public education
An end to public parks
An end to public roads
An end to public libraries
An end to public police
An end to public firefighters
An end to public military
An end to public politicians
It’s time to get rid of every socialistic institution in this country and hand it back to the private sector.
The private sector and market principles can do a better cheaper job than any government entity.
Show your support. Pull your children out of public schools. Avoid public libraries. Refuse to play in a public park. Don’t ride on public roads. Don’t call a public police if your house is robbed. Or a public firefighter if your house is on fire.
Stand up for your beliefs!!!

Cute, but as you surely know, we’re not demonstrating against any of those things. We’re demonstrating against this:
Get a clue.

EXACTLY!! But just cutting Obama’s spending isn’t the cure to our problems. Bush was as big a spender as there ever was.
And everyone of our politicians enjoy bringing home the bacon.
Even local governments can’t resists the urge to spend , spend spend.
We are in deep deep debt.
It’s time to put the brakes on all spending.. .local and national…and personal
Why personal. Because Most Americans are big spenders themselves. Just look at the credit card debt in America.
So it isn’t just Obama. It’s Obama and everyone of us who owes credit card debt, mortgage payments and a car loan we can’t afford.
If you can’t pay off your credit card debt at the end of the month…you are part of the problem.

Bush was a big spender, but Obama’s spending has dwarfed his, as you can see from the chart shown in the linked video.
It’s the difference between “sustainable” and “unsustainable”.
