Czar Gazing

A few czar related stories caught my eye, today.

1.) Following Glenn Beck’s lead, the Republican pushback on czars begins:

Hot Air:

Lamar Alexander (R-TN) delivered a blistering attack on the apparatchiks of Obama’s government and the way it undermines the checks and balances in the system:

Kay Bailey Hutchinson piled on in the Washington Post, Sunday.

Ed Morrissey:

It’s well past time for the Republicans to demand answers on the massive expansion of “czars” in the government. A proper Congress would have balked at it regardless of the political parties involved. They represent a deliberate attempt to undermine the role of Congress as a check on executive power, and set a very dangerous precedent for subsequent administrations of both parties.

Hear hear, it’s about time.

2.) Also…guess which malevolent public figure has been found to be a big financier of  Van Jones, according to Cliff Kincaid?

When the list of donors to the Van Jones “Green for All” organization is examined, one name stands out-the Open Society Institute of billionaire George Soros. The Green for All 2008 annual report is also notable for the pictures of the powerful people who associated with Jones. They include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Vice President Al Gore.

For those interested in finding out how a real communist got a White House job, the Van Jones scandal isn’t over. One of the most fascinating preliminary answers involves the George Soros connection. Why would an organization associated with someone who made billions of dollars by exploiting the global capitalist system want to underwrite the activities of a communist? We have previously noted that Soros has escaped press scrutiny because he has funded a variety of news media organizations, in addition to major elements of the Democratic Party. Soros was a major backer of Obama during the 2008 campaign.

3.) And next on the conservative agenda according to FrontPageMagazine?

Valerie Jarrett: The Next Van Jones

Many have wondered how ANYONE AS EXTREME AS Obama’S “Green Jobs Czar” Van Jones – a self-described “Communist” obsessed with racial conspiracy theories – could have been named to head a federal agency. David Horowitz described the radicalization of the Democratic Party as the appointment’s subtext. Closer to the fore, Jones owed his elevation to another new factor: the unparalleled influence of Valerie Jarrett. To call Jarrett a presidential adviser, even a close adviser, is misleading. She is an alter ego, an inner conscience, a touchstone of clarity for both President Obama and first lady Michelle. In the frenzy of the presidency, she reminds both Obamas of their identity and deepest-held beliefs. In exchange, the president makes no decision without her and has said she can “speak for me.” Unfortunately, she is also a racially polarizing elitist. She obtained her first foothold in Chicago politics through the patronage of a former SDS radical who regrets “nothing” about her role in the Days of Rage and ventured in 2003 that she “would probably reject violence as a useful form of revolution.” The same radical tried to persuade Rod Blagojevich to name Jarrett to Obama’s empty senate seat. Instead, Jarrett has served as a conduit of far-leftists into the administration.

With a Little Help from my (Radical) Friends

Who is this person to whom Jarrett is so indebted – and who, we shall see, she calls a personal friend? Marilyn Katz provided “security” for Students for a Democratic Society at the 1968 Democratic Convention. Undercover Chicago policeman William Frapolly told prosecutors that during the Days of Rage, Katz showed protesters a new weapon to use against the police: “a cluster of nails that were sharpened at both ends, and they were fastened in the center.” Police later reported being hit by golf balls with nails through them, as well as excrement. Years later, Katz would insist her “guerrilla nails” were merely “a defensive weapon” to prevent “possible bad behavior by the police.”

The SDS soon imploded. Bill Ayers – whom Katz has known since he was 17 – helped create the terrorist Weather Underground from its ranks. In 1971-2, Katz would lead another remnant to form the New American Movement (NAM), a combined Old Left-New Left organization that included Communist Party USA members from the 1930s.

  1. These “associations” games did not work in the general election, and will not work now. I just shook my head and laugh when I read this. Nobody cares, just like the Acorn story. Nobody cares. I read on a another board another “association” thread. VJ’s mother worked on a board with a person who once had breakfast with a friend whose maid one time was a waitress at a diner that served Bill Ayers.

  2. Nobody cares? Sure, keep telling yourself that.

During the election nobody believed. It was too outlandish.

    People are waking up, now.

You might have noticed that on 9/12.

  4. Mike: Obama got elected because it was just unbelievable to a majority of voters that Obama would govern the way that many of us warned. Then he got elected and it started, each appointment almost as outlandish as the previous. Nobody cares? So far, in order to achieve his far left agenda he’s pissed off: police officers, firefighters, soldiers, CIA, FBI, the elderly, hispanic farmers, legal immigrants, large numbers of Jewish people, rank and file union workers, New York City and survivors of 9/11, and many of the “soccer Moms”, all of whom were instrumental in voting him into office. You’ll see in 2012 just exactly how “nobody cares.” I think the official number of protesters in Washington on Saturday 9/12 has been generally accepted to have been 1.7 million. Obama had 1.8 million (according to the MSM) at his inauguration. If “nobody cares” then why did Jones even resign? Why did Congress overwhelmingly vote to disqualify ACORN from Federal Funding? Why did the census drop them? Why has the viewership of Fox News increased exponentially and continues to rise on a daily basis? You’ll see.

  5. First, not even close to 1. any million.

Second nobody cares. I know many people, not once, ever, has any one said, hey Mike, what about Acorn, or Valerie Jarrett, or Glenn Beck, or whatever. Remember there are 305 million people in America. 70, 000 showed up for some right wing event that did not disrupt one thing in DC, and 3 million watch Fox News. Need I say more?

  6. I know many people, not once, ever, has any one said, hey Mike, what about Acorn, or Valerie Jarrett, or Glenn Beck, or whatever.

Hahahahaha!! That’s even more moronic than the “70,000 is a small % of 305 million” idiocy. It’s high school level stupid.

I know many people, not once, ever, has any one of them been in jail. Therefore nobody is in jail.

I know many people, not once, ever, has any of them lost their job. Therefore unemployment is low.

I don’t know the caliber of Michael’s friends, but if they’re the sort of people who turn to him for his commentary on current events, they’re hurting.

  7. …and I see that the ACORN story made the New York Times today. But nobody Michael hangs out with cares, so it must not be important.

It’s tough to get people interested in politics down at the skateboard park.

  8. …and I see that the ACORN story made the New York Times today

Did I say “New York Times?” My bad. I meant “New York Times, LA Times, and Wall Street Journal.”

  9. are people really still saying 70K? and proclaiming photos are doctored? really?
talk about remaining willfully ignorant. must be easier than admitting the guy you worship doesn’t give one rat’s a$$ about you and is just paying homage to his commie buddies and their agenda.

it’s never easy to admit you are wrong (so incredibly, ridiculously and wholeheartedly wrong) but if you need someone to hold your hand, Mike, i’ll do it.

  10. I just want to say, that’s a great title. I’m all jealous.

I also love the p-shop of Soros. That’s my favorite of him.

This could get interesting. Very interesting.

On the one hand, the Republicans are full of “good friends” of the Dems and they won’t want to get too “partisany” or anything.
But there’s the possibility that people right up at the top of the Democratic party, who are very cosy with Acorn, have been involved in some seriously shady/illegal/caricature of Chicago sort of things.

Imagine the great crashing sound we could hear except the GOP won’t do it. Not if John Mac and the Rino brigade have anything to say about it.
