I’m becoming convinced that Obama suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Per Wikipedia:
The narcissist is described as turning inward for gratification rather than depending on others and as being excessively preoccupied with issues of personal adequacy, power, and prestige. Narcissistic personality disorder is closely linked to self-centeredness. It is also colloquially referred to as “the God complex.”
DSM IV-TR criteria:
A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:
1. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance
2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty or ideal love (megalomania)
3. Believes they are “special” and can only be understood by, or should associate with, people (or institutions) who are also “special” or of high status
4. Requires excessive admiration
5. Has a sense of entitlement
6. Is interpersonally exploitative
7. Lacks empathy
8. Is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
9. Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
So, per Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, only 5 of the above 9 characteristics are required for a diagnosis of NPD.
Holy cow! This explains a lot of his behavior.

Deb – I’m sorry I missed your original post from May ’08. It was truly great. As usual, you’re ahead of the curve. From all the examples you cited, there’s a interesting difference between those that cite his narcissistic behavior, common with many politicians, versus those examining his clinical NPD traits. The last video from FaithFreedom.org was just great.
Have you written or read anything on NPD enablers? Why do intelligent people around those with NPD enable them to reach reach such dangerous heights? Inquiring minds want to know.

If the fwench can make such an assessment of you that more than 1% of your own people can find themselves in agreement with, that’s not good.
