Captain America Takes On The Tea-Partiers

This is truly disgusting. He started out as a patriotic hero, but in his more recent incarnation, Captain America has apparently become a  moonbat.

Enemies of the State.

You’ll note that one of the signs says, “Teabag the libs before they teabag you”, as if a tea party protester would ever use the liberal media’s insulting and scatological term.

Publius has the storyline:

In preparation for the infiltration, Marvel Comics depicts the two super heroes out of costume and observing from a rooftop a street filled with what can only be described as a Tea Party protest. The scene shows crowds of people in city streets carrying signs that say, “stop the socialists,” “tea bag libs before they tea bag you,” and “no to new taxes.” Naturally, the people in these crowds are depicted as being filled with nothing but white folks.

The black character asks the out of costume Captain, “What the hell is this?” And follows that with, “looks like some kind of anti-tax protest.” The Falcon character then snidely tells his partner the Captain, “So I guess this whole ‘hate the government’ vibe around here isn’t limited to the Watchdogs.”

The two then discuss their plan to infiltrate the subversive group that Marvel comics seems to be linking to the Tea Party movement. This discussion culminates in The Falcon wondering how a black man would do such a thing. “I don’t exactly see a black man from Harlem fitting in with a bunch of angry white folks,” he tells the incognito Captain America.

Now just  take a look at how the tea partiers are depicted in the comic book pictured, above.

Compare and contrast to some real tea partiers.

To pretend that the average Americans who make up the tea party movement are  menacing looking as a group is just plain dishonest.

If you want to see scary, freaky looking mobs, you really have to hearken back to the anti-war protests of the Bush years:

Here is a great companion piece to this story:

Misunderstanding the tea party

By Dr. Zero in the Greenroom.

Just a snippet:

The Tea Party movement is not crazy, hateful, or stupid. Their rallies are disarmingly cheerful affairs, which most certainly do include women and minorities. The movement is still in the process of coalescing, and seeks inspiration and representation, rather than leadership. They know their country is rocketing down the wrong path, and while the current President has a heavy hand on the throttle, the course was set long before he entered politics.

If you seek madness, look for it in the President’s delusional State of the Union speech, or the people who indulge his belief that another three or four trillion piled onto a $14 trillion national debt will get us at least halfway to utopia. If you want to taste hatred, sample the venom directed at Sarah Palin, the only person currently capable of building a bridge between the energy of the Tea Party, and the established resources of the GOP. If you would like stupidity illustrated, witness the spectacle of the Democrats passing off their oily mass of backroom deals and political payoffs as a rational plan for improving health care.

The lack of a comprehensive solution doesn’t make criticism invalid. The point is that comprehensive solutions are inherently inadequate, compared to the creative power of free markets and private industry. Tea Party stalwarts are entirely rational in refusing to submit themselves as raw materials for the next big adventure in central planning. After several lifetimes of watching an increasingly huge federal government fail at almost everything it tries, while displaying increasingly less enthusiasm for the Constitutional duty of national defense that it actually excels at, the middle class demands the freedom and respect to get busy solving its own problems. They’re understandably tired of watching every story in the evening news twisted into another reason the government needs more money, every market fluctuation offered as proof the private sector has too much freedom, and every change in the weather presented as a omen their standard of living is a mortal wound to the Earth.

  1. Nice Deb – The Big Tea Party I attended and sent pictures of that ACE posted show very clearly that that they were all white and I’m proud of that fact. If like minded white people want to congregate together, we have NOTHING to apologize for. I saw one very uncomfortable looking young black man who looked totally astonished and intimidated by the deep anger of those “pussy white folks.” And if we don’t happen to welcome someone because they are opposite our views that’s too damn bad. Furthermore, if we don’t want to be around anyone at all, and that includes minorities, and make them feel unwelcome, THAT’s to damn bad too! They have all been sticking it to us a VERY long time and I’m old enough to remember when we wouldn’t stand for it. Too bad young white people have grown up to accept being second class citizens when (even if you take away spanish speaking white people) we are still almost 70%!!!

    U.S. Census Population projections 2008 to 2050
    Non-Hispanic whites 66% 46%
    Hispanics 15% 30%
    African Americans 14% 15%
    Asian Americans 5% 9%

  4. Oh, nice find, Mal.

Unfortunately every large group of people is going to bring out a few weirdos. My point above, is that the anti-war demonstrations were typified by their extremism.

“So Nicedeb – are the above comment indicative of your own opinions? You really think you are white second class citizens?”

NiceDeb – I live in a city that is 50% black and hispanic, at my UberLiberal job I work with those numbers and white people are very much treated like second class citizens every day, all day. Women and minorities are given special treatment and deference over white men in all kinds of ways. The galling thing about it is that since Bill Clinton put his “spin”on the subject, we have been told that we had better get used to the not being the biggest, most powerful group in this country anymore and had better learn to accomodate the “majority of minorities.” And so we must defer to minorities and get used to the idea that they outnumber us. What horsedump! As you can see from the US Census data, we are the biggest group now and will remain so even past 2050:
    U.S. Census Population projections 2008 to 2050
    Non-Hispanic whites 66% 46%
    Hispanics 15% 30%
    African Americans 14% 15%
    Asian Americans 5% 9%
I know lots of hispanics that consider themselves white people, and it is these artificial, arbitray classifications that are dividing us. Time was, and in truth still is, when there were only four races: cacausian, black, oriental and Austrailian aboriginee. The rest are arbitrary reclassifications used to didivde us up, and give to some, some while taking from others. And who is getting and who is giving? (Tried to send pix, will resend)

  6. Nicedeb – Oh I forget anybody even moderately to left of you (which wouldn’t be very hard) is some kind of weirdo. Incidentally despite the at times questionable sartorial taste, I don’t notice anyone ‘peacefully’ toting guns at the rallies you’re having a go at – do you support that particular behaviour? What a joy it must be to have a racist and sexist of the calibre of 7heavens here jumping to aid you in spreading your prejudices!

You should take a good look at the anti-war protests chronicled by Zombietime’s at his/her blog. They were characterized by large contingents of weirdos. Period.

I don’t notice anyone ‘peacefully’ toting guns at the rallies you’re having a go at – do you support that particular behaviour?

I don’t have a problem at all with people carrying guns where they’re allowed, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to display them at tea parties because of their threatening nature. It’s just not necessary.

What a joy it must be to have a racist and sexist of the calibre of 7heavens here jumping to aid you in spreading your prejudices!

Oh Yes, Mal. 7 Heavens is practically my co-blogger because he occasionally comments, here.

I don’t agree with every comment posted here, as you as well as anybody should know.

  8. Mal – I speak for myself, not NiceDeb. Your name calling is so predictable it’s boring. You obviously believe that we must have uniformity of thought on these matters or we are bad people, i.e., racist, sexist, homophobic, imperialist, post-colonialist, lookist, ageist, ignorant, evil-white-men, oh, and did I forget racist and sexist? THE magic words to frighten the faint-of-heart, and shut down any argument with anyone who does not agree with you and your stereotyping and prejudiced views. Those classic Liberal buzzwords have become meaningless to conservatives and have been so overused for so long that they are rapidly becoming meaningless to the general public. Whenever a Liberal has no argument they always revert to name calling as if it were an argument, well it isn’t. Mal, you did not address the issue, you just add a pathetic whiny tone to this string which we could all do without. In short, you are a bore and a waste of bandwidth space. If you don’t like my views tell me exactly and specifically what it is that you don’t like and we’ll have a conversstion about it. I will not be shut down by name calling. Otherwise, if you don’t like it that is too damn bad.

  9. “Whenever a Liberal has no argument they always revert to name calling as if it were an argument” – what was that about name-calling and stereotyping 7heavens? You give no specific proof of anything except a percentage list of race breakdown and a whinge about how badly treated anglo-saxon whites are. You’re the epitome of a racist ideologue. And living proof that the internet has a lot to answer for.

If you think calling you a Liberal is name calling, I guess in this country today you would be right. But you just proved my point, and if you are not capable of seeing it you have proved it again. You are proving yourself impervious to argument, reason and rationality.

Again, if you don’t like my views tell me exactly and specifically what it is that you don’t like (if you can) and we’ll have a conversation about it. Otherwise engaging in silly epithets is a waste of all of our time.

  11. 7heavens there is not a skerrick of rationality, reason or coherent argument in anything you’ve said so far. Really this trash: “Furthermore, if we don’t want to be around anyone at all, and that includes minorities, and make them feel unwelcome, THAT’s to damn bad too! They have all been sticking it to us a VERY long time and I’m old enough to remember when we wouldn’t stand for it. Too bad young white people have grown up to accept being second class citizens when (even if you take away spanish speaking white people) we are still almost 70%!!!” – is supposed to be rational argument? Pure blind racist emotion as far as I can see. Incidentally your use of the term liberal is a term of abuse – from what I’ve seen here and elsewhere to a rightwinger it means Marxist, Fascist, Communist, liar etc etc. In other words you and other rightwingers have made it devoid of meaning. Try looking it up in the dictionary sometime. You can do that, can’t you?
