Pamela Geller’s Jihad Conference At CPAC

Just got back from Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer’s excellent conference, where it was standing room only. I got there at the last minute, of course, (with C. Prater) and found a place in the front to squat. (literally).

Introductory remarks by Ms. Shrugs

Wafa Sultan worried too much about her accent – I understood her perfectly. Pamela profiled her, here.

Here was a woman, basically property in the Muslim world, supposed to do what she was told, when she was told, where she was told, how she was told, turning around after she had been interrupted numerous times, and saying in effect, “Quiet, it’s my turn!”

Just as important is her book, A God Who Hates: The Courageous Woman Who Inflamed the Muslim World Speaks Out Against the Evils of Islam (St. Martin’s Press). This book is a key resource in the resistance to jihad and Islamization.

In it, the brilliant psychiatrist from Syria, now an American citizen, tells her own story: it’s about a Muslim woman who grew up in a Muslim country and who was indoctrinated in the Islamic ideology. But what makes this book great, apart from its breathtaking honesty and truth and the clarity and urgency of its warning, is that it is also a beautiful love letter to America.

Her major point was that most Jihadis aspire to world domination through the facade of  moderate Muslims. And tragically, many of these people are playing key roles in public policy, in Europe, and yes, here in the US.

Former State Dept. Islamic Expert, Steve Coughlin gave the longest and most comprehensive talk. Atlas profiled him, here.

Late in 2007, Major Stephen Coughlin, USAR, the Pentagon’s lone expert on Islamic law (Sharia) on the Joint Staff, was asked by Hesham Islam, special assistant for international affairs for the Deputy Secretary of Defense, Gordon R. England, to moderate his statements about Islam’s doctrines mandating warfare against and the subjugation of unbelievers. In response, Coughlin, cited Islamic sources to show that he was portraying Islamic teaching accurately. According to journalist Bill Gertz in the Washington Times, Islam and other Muslims in the Pentagon then began campaigning to have Coughlin fired, calling him a “Christian zealot with a pen.” Ultimately, Coughlin’s contract was not renewed.

This was despite the high quality of Coughlin’s work. Said retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney: “Steve Coughlin is the most knowledgeable person in the U.S. government on Islamic law.” LTC Joseph C. Myers, Army Advisor to the Air Command and Staff College, told the truth: “The termination of Stephen Coughlin on the Joint Staff is an act of intellectual cowardice.”

Coughlin insisted that we must speak clearly about the nature of the threat we face. In his thesis, “‘To Our Great Detriment’: Ignoring What Extremists Say About Jihad,” submitted to the National Defense Intelligence College in July 2007, he argued that the politically correct refusal to name the enemy was placing the United States at a strategic disadvantage.

Even worse, according to terrorism expert Steven Emerson, Hesham Islam was “an Islamist with a pro-Muslim Brotherhood bent who has brought in groups to the Pentagon who have been unindicted co-conspirators.” Gertz reported that Islam had brought Muslim Brotherhood operatives into Pentagon community outreach programs: “Coughlin came under fire from pro-Muslim officials after a memorandum he wrote identified several groups that are being courted by Mr. Islam’s community outreach program as front organizations for the pro-extremist Muslim Brotherhood.” Islam also prevailed upon England to host members of the Islamic Society of North America, a Brotherhood organization, at the Pentagon in April 2008, “raising concerns,” said Gertz, “that the deputy defense secretary does not understand clearly the nature of the Islamist threat he is working against as the No. 2 official.”

The Stephen Coughlin affair illustrated most vividly the infiltration at the highest levels of the U.S. government. At the Freedom Defense Initiative event, Coughlin will make his first public appearance since the sad and telling events that led to his termination from the Defense Department. His message about Muslim Brotherhood influence at high levels of our government is deeply disturbing – and it is crucial that he be heard.

I’ve covered  his story, here.

Here are some of his bullet points from his speech:

Abrogation, he explained,  is  key  to understanding  Islamic doctrine.

More about this from the next speaker, Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff

Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff – Atlas highlighted her her story, here.

Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff is an Austrian human rights and anti-jihad activist. A diplomat’s daughter, she was a child in Iran during the Islamic Revolution of 1979, and later lived in Iraq, Kuwait and Libya. During the 1990 invasion of Kuwait by Iraq, she was among the Austrian citizens who were kidnapped and held hostage. Today, Sabaditsch-Wolff is an international representative of the Citizens’ Movement Pax Europa.

An unprepared reporter from the Austrian magazine “News” attended the seminar, and was so frightened by what she heard that she wrote a major reportage about ‘political hate speech’ at the seminar, and reported Elisabeth to the Austrian authorities for the crime of ‘hate speech’, quoting statements from the seminar.

Late in 2009 she was charged with “hate speech” under Austrian law for statements she made during a seminar on Islam. It was another attempt to silence by brute force those who speak out accurately about the global jihad and Islamic supremacism. Sabaditsch-Wolff explained: “I want to preserve Europe and its democratic and secular values. Islamic doctrine discriminates against women and non-Muslims. Islamic law, or shariah, cannot be reconciled with democratic principles and universal human rights.”

When she was a young woman living in Syria, she asked a Jordanian about the Prophet Mohammad’s penchant for young girls, because she had recently heard about it, and found it rather shocking and reprehensible. She reported that he didn’t admit or deny it – he just told her to never speak of it again: “A person  should not speak of anything he notices about people besides that which benefits a Muslim”.

Anders Gravers, SIOE – Atlas profile, here.

SIOE exists to legally combat the overt and covert expansion of Islam in Europe and states that Islam and democracy are incompatible due to teachings within the Koran itself and some of the hadiths which comprise sharia law.
Such incompatibility is self-evident when those tenuous democracies in countries where Islam is the dominant religion are scrutinized.
Western values are under the most severe threat from Islamisation, but particularly Europe, at the present time.

Simon Deng, Former slave, and Muslim apostate. Atlas profile, here.

Simon Deng knows what so few in the West today realize: that the Sudanese in Darfur and southern Sudan were subjected to genocide and enslaved in the name of Islamic jihad – the same Islamic jihad that threatens Israel’s existence, that took down the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, and that has murdered innocent people in London, Madrid, Bali, and all over the world. Simon Deng calls jihad “the worst evil presently confronting the world,” and adds: “Jihad is on the march across the globe, and the people of the Sudan have experienced its cruelty more than any other group on earth.”

“I belong to a people,” Deng explains, “who have been subjected to mass murder, slavery, systematic rape, religious persecution, enforced starvation, dislocation, exile. We are the victims of genocide, both physical and cultural. We have been targeted for annihilation as human beings and as members of a culture. These miseries did not fall upon us from the sky; we have been and remain the victims of the radical jihadist regime in Khartoum….we Southern Sudanese lost 2 million more to what Khartoum calls a holy war against the infidels….We black ‘infidels’ in the South, Christians and other non-Muslims, refused to be ruled by Islam, and we refused to be Arabized.”

And so they were massacred or enslaved. Deng lived as a slave for several years. And now he asks, “How long will mass murder, slavery, religious persecution, systematic rape, enforced starvation, and ‘ethnic and religious cleansing’ be allowed to go on? When will those with the power to act to stop these crimes stand up and say enough is enough? Not long ago – only yesterday in historical terms – after the Nazis slaughtered millions of innocent Jews, the UN was created….But in Sudan, when 1.5 million were lost in a genocide perpetrated by the Islamists, nobody said anything at all.”

My camera ran out of batteries before Lt. Col. Allen West’s bold speech, which was a really, the grande finale. Atlas profiled him, here.

West still writes for Atlas. In his January 2010 column, he wrote about what the next three years of Obama could mean for America. “We continue to do the three things history, and sound economics teaches, say you do not do; print more money, borrow more money, and raise taxes. Of course this is all because the Obama, Pelosi, and Reid triumvirate have to grow the entitlement class in order to maintain their hold on power.” Meanwhile, “in the past year we have seen the Obama crew sailing all over the world promoting American values and traditions, way wrong answer….It was just pathetically appalling to watch an American President parade all over the world apologizing for the exceptionalism of our Republic, town hall meetings in Europe and China….why? However, it was even more disturbing to watch the submissive nature of this President before the Turkish National Assembly and at a University in Cairo. These speeches certainly projected weakness and a dhimmi (submissive) attitude to the clear and present dangerous totalitarian ideology which threatens our Nation and its interests.”

And that ideology is jihad, which hardly anyone in politics has West’s courage to discuss in public.

West is a Republican candidate for Congress in Florida’s 22nd congressional district. I am shocked that the GOP has not gotten behind him. He gets it. He knows what is happening and what needs to be done. It’s not enough to chat amongst ourselves. We must elect officials who see the serious damage being done to the basic foundation of this great nation. We need leadership that understands America, respects the Constitution, believes in small government, and has the fortitude to combat Islamic supremacism and the stealth jihad. We can affect change with the right leadership.

  1. BTW – I meant to also thank you also for having the wisdom to think about taking photos of the slide presentation and to load them in the blog. They turned out beautifully and are easy to read (good vantage point with you squatting in the front!)

    Let freedom ring!

  3. I was there, sitting in the front too.

I wonder if we were next to each other and didn’t even know it?

Anyway, I spoke with Pamela and Robert later. They were so gratified to see the packed house for FDI.

Coughlin was spot on about the concept of abrogation. This concept is essential to understanding Islam, and so many don’t have a clue about the concept.
