Tea Party Foe Wins Pulitzer

Remember the hateful, insulting and profoundly unfunny cartoon that NPR ran a few months back: Learn to Speak “Tea Bag”?

Just to jog your memory:

The lame attempt at humor demonstrated the political depth and artistic skills of the average 14 year old. But guess what? The guy who created that just won a Pulitzer:

It was announced yesterday that Mark Fiore won the Pulitzer Prize, with the Pulitzer committee saying that his “biting wit, extensive research and ability to distill complex issues set a high standard for an emerging form of commentary.”

He’ll  be up for a Nobel Peace Prize, too, no doubt.

Meanwhile, one of the most hysterical political videos ever made sits in relative obscurity.

There is no justice in this world.

  1. Good post, deb. I actually thought the pbs video was pretty funny. Amazing that the guy got a pulitzer though.

Your hubby’s vid was outstanding! Deserving of some kind of award.

I kinda think this one of mine does too. What do you think?

  2. And fyi, I have announced a $99,999 finders fee to anyone who provides a video of the racial slurs slung at the CBC Congressmen. I promise anonymity. So if you know any tea partiers who are harboring the evidence because they don’t want to be considered a traitor, send them my way, would you? All the info is on my blog…

  4. deb, I remember that one. Excellent! It so telling.

But of course we both know I could do a counter with equal, if not better, responses from the right. But I’m not that cruel. lol

  5. well, do we both know that President Obama slipped when he said he’s been to 57 states? He was counting PR, Guam, Virgin Islands, Northern Mariani Islands, Samoa, Midway and oh yeah, I think he visited Cuba too.

  6. What are you saying? That there aren’t ignorant people within the Republican party?

No, but I am saying that the people in the tea party movement are people who are paying attention and are a little more informed than the general public, and certainly the average Obama voter.

  7. Nice Deb, you’ll have to forgive Big Hips and her selective memory. So let me remind her for you about the “brilliance of Barry Barack Obama”.

Some people think President George W. Bush was “the dumbest president ever” (and, amazingly, many of you still do), please note that political blogger Josh Ray has this message for you:

If George W. Bush had given Prime Minister Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Prime Minister Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to Cinco de Cuatro in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and ‘potatoe’ as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan, causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W.. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plans holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

And my favorite all-time gaffe from the ignoramus that Big Hips worships. Do we all remember the pronunciation of “CORPSEMAN”? Here Big Hips, relive your spectucular dunce for President’s greatest moment. I can see why you’re a fan! 😉

  8. well, deb. You might be right. At least those peeps are exercising free speech and are concerned enough to speak out. I know that many Obama supporters are clueless. There is much reactionary thinking on both the left and the right. They probably would make good bedpartners.

and fyi, I will not be rabbling at the tea party on Thursday. I will be there with my little camcorder recording what people say. If they stick their feet down their throats, far be it from me to spare them embarrassment. I will be fair and balanced, but I won’t censor myself.

  9. and Tex? guess what. I am not one who thinks that President George W. Bush was dumb, just like I don’t think Governor Sarah Palin is dumb.

Obama is just smarter than either of them. But that doesn’t mean he is a better President. That will be determined after his presidency is over.

  10. But I bet GW did some things like burning 9000 gals of fuel to plant a tree too. I can’t come up with anything quite as outrageous though. Did President Obama really do that? Where? When?

  11. I don’t think saying “corpsmen” was all that dumb. I think some people say it that way. I have heard it myself. In the whole scheme of things, I don’t think it was all that bad a blunder.

  12. and I never hammered Dan Q. for misspelling “potato.” It’s a common error. I know far too many intelligent people who can’t spell for beans. I usually don’t correct people unless they irritate me. So Tex, just a warning, use your spellcheck. hahaha

And you base this one what? Your opinion? But you’re an obvious leftist shill. This is why nobody sane will take you seriously as a debator Rose. You’ve got to show us what Obama has done to deserve merit. George Bush could fly jets – Obama shoots set shots and throws like a girl.

So far, Obama has been an abject failure and complete moron. Actions speak louder than words. Let’s see his sealed records. I say Obama is at best an affirmative action graduate, and not terribly bright. Prove me wrong…

As Commander-in-Chief talking in front of many in the military, they would differ with you. It’s a joke.

And just because you run in a brain dead crowd of leftist hacks, none who can spell including you, and the fact that you minimize glaring idiocy, doesn’t change the fact Obama’s biggest weakness is that he is weak. 🙂
