Ten Buck Fridays: September 5 – 10

Another week, another great bunch of candidates on the TBF poll (located on my upper right sidebar).
Right Klik gives us the TBF poll in a nutshell:

This is a poll designed to promote rising conservative stars. At the end of the week, the winner will be promoted by a network of over 80 conservative blogs and will receive a flurry of contributions from patriots across the country.
We’re working to fill a leadership vacuum that has resulted from the failures of the Washington-based Republican establishment.
There’s a write up about each of the candidates at Right Klik if you’d like to learn more about them.

The Nice Deb Pick this week is Vicky Hartzler, who’s running against Ike Skelton in MO-4.

In 1994 she ran for state representative and was overwhelmingly elected to represent parts of Cass and Johnson Counties. She served in the Missouri House of Representatives for six years where she championed legislation promoting adoption, strengthening education, and lowering taxes for working Missourians. She fought for small business owners, farmers, workers, and the jobs they create and hold. She fought for what we value—life, individual rights guaranteed us in the U.S. Constitution, freedom.

During her time in office she received many awards including “Individual of the Year Award” from the Harrisonville Area Chamber of Commerce, and “Public Servant of the Year Award” from the Pleasant Hill Area Chamber of Commerce.

In 2000 Representative Hartzler decided to not seek re-election after the Lord blessed her husband and her with a beautiful baby girl.

Vicky Hartzler has written newspaper columns over the years, written op-ed pieces for the KC Star and St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and spoken to groups on a variety of topics. She teaches Sunday School at her church and has been a speaker at women’s conferences.

In 2005 Missouri Governor Matt Blunt appointed her chairperson of the Missouri Women’s Council—an agency within the Department of Economic Development dedicated to helping women achieve their economic goals—and was overwhelmingly confirmed by the Missouri Senate.

Vicky has been actively involved in Farm Bureau for over 20 years having serving as President of the Cass County Farm Bureau and Chairman along with her husband, Lowell, of the Missouri Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Cass County Farm Bureau.

Vicky and her husband, Lowell, run a diversified farming operation and are owners of Hartzler Equipment Company with store locations in Harrisonville, Nevada, and Lamar. The Hartzlers live with their daughter, Tiffany, near Harrisonville, Missouri.

Since leaving office in 2001 she has remained active in politics coordinating and managing numerous campaigns and serving as state spokesperson for the Coalition to Protect Marriage in Missouri in 2004. That year she was one of the main organizers of the campaign to protect traditional marriage and participated in over 150 interviews with television, radio, and newspaper reporters from all over the world as well as took part in debates on television and radio. Despite being outspent 22 to 1, on Election Day, Missouri sent a clarion call around the world that traditional marriage was worth protecting by passing the constitutional amendment with 71% of the vote. She is the author of the book “Running God’s Way: Step by Step to a Successful Political Campaign”. The project is designed to encourage and equip more people with integrity to get involved in the political process.

Ike Skelton is considered a bluedog Dem even though he votes with San Fran Nan 95% of the time. He’s been a fixture in Congress for nearly three decades, but this is a an anti incumbent Republican wave year, and District 4 is a red district which voted for McCain over Obama 61%-38% in 2008.
This thing is very doable.

10 Buck Friday Blogroll:

Ed Schultz “Accepts challenge” – Announces Big Labor March On Washington October 2

Ed  Schultz is “accepting the challenge”, whatever that means.  What he described  as he and Glenn Beck’s “war of words all week long” was actually he,  “Genius Envy”, being made the butt of jokes, all week long, but never mind that. To his mind, he’s got something to prove.

Schultz, (who recently threw a hissy fit because his network won’t even use him in election night promos) can drum up at least as big a march on Washington as that “phoney, preachy, self centered” Glenn Beck! We are talking, BIG SHAKES!

Glenn Beck had a lot of help, you know!

Ed Schultz is going to bring “real Americans” together, with a just a teensy weensy bit of  help from big Labor, (WHO HAVE BEEN UNDER ATTACK FOR THIRTY YEARS! by the way)…

Did Schmultz mention that that One Nation Working Together rally he’s so honored to be a part of was already made public August 2nd on the Marxist website, People’s World, weeks before Glenn Beck’s massive “so called” Restoring Honor rally?

The AFL-CIO executive committee voted unanimously this morning to join One Nation, Working Together, a new national coalition of labor and civil rights groups that has as its purpose to “reorder America’s priorities by investing in the nation’s most valuable resource – its people.”

The labor, civil rights, environmental, faith and other organizations that have formed the new coalition intend to replace unemployment and economic crisis faced by the country’s majority with “nothing less than a future of shared prosperity for all our people,” the AFL-CIO said in a statement after it voted to join One Nation.

“None of us alone have been able to achieve our priorities,” said Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO.

One Nation’s first official act as a coalition will be a march on Washington on Oct. 2, which unions say will energize an army of tens of thousands who will return to their neighborhoods, churches, schools and voting booths to prevent a Republican takeover of Congress in November and begin building a new permanent coalition to fight for a progressive agenda.

So, Big Labor is organizing the march they announced  over a month ago, and Genius is going to try to take credit for however many lefties show up.  Truly pathetic.

Doug Ross recently reported on the Frankenstein monster of SEIU, AFL-CIO and AFSCME spending a combined total of  150 million dollars on the mid-term elections:

CFIF notes that two of the nation’s largest unions — Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) — will spend about $100 million supporting Democrats in the 2010 midterms. In addition, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union (AFSCME) will donate an additional $50 million to the Democrat cause.

Not only do they think you’re stupid, they think their members are even dumber. After all, that money could be spent on member benefits. Like a $1,000 check for 150,000 members. Or putting some money into the dramatically underfunded pensions.

If Schmultz were truly concerned about the union rank and file, he might wonder aloud why his Big Labor buds are blowing millions of dollars of  members’ dues on Dem losers in the upcoming elections when they could be spending it on their drastically underfunded pensions?

He might ask why union bosses “have directed millions of dollars to their own generous pay packages and to their Democrat cronies, while leaving rank-and-file members’ retirements at risk”.

He might learn that Big Labor thinks it can continue to rob and spend with impunity, because they can dump their benefit obligations onto the taxpayers.

… they’re now pushing federal legislation to dump grossly underfunded union pension plans into the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PGBC). In other words, labor leaders want a bailout for union pensions…

Michelle Malkin recently asked: Hasn’t the SEIU wasted enough of its members’ (and taxpayers’ ) money?

$10 million down the drain in Arkansas for the Purple Army’s failed bid to unseat Democrat Blanche Lincoln.

$10 million on a nasty lawsuit against a competing union in California.

Untold millions in fatcat pension funds and lavish deals for former SEIU head Andy Stern’s hand-selected cronies.

Another $44 million budgeted for left-wing political lobbying in the coming election cycle.

Who knows how much on transporting SEIU radicals to bully bank execs and their families at their private residences.

Oh, and that $40,000 payment to former SEIU heavy-turned-Obama domestic political adviser Patrick Gaspard which he somehow forgot to report to the most transparent administration in American history.

Down the drain.

No wonder more and more rank-and-file union workers are revolting against the Big Labor thugs.

The Union rank and file Smultz thinks he’s standing up for, may not show up in the numbers he’d like to see, as people with working brain cells are not looking to the very people who are part of the problem to solve the unemployment problem.   But there will, no doubt, be plenty of  hard left, commie  moonbats in attendance, and I for one, will be honored to feature the spectacle on my blog on October 3rd.
