This is barely worth mentioning because it is what we’ve all come to expect from Obama. Those of us who were paying attention saw how Obama fought throughout the 2008 election campaign – this tendency he has of demonizing his opposition was something to behold. We knew it didn’t bode well for the country, should he be elected, and we were right. Instead of having a President who stays above the political fray, we have, for perhaps the first time in our nation’s history, a President who singles out Americans/groups/corporations to publicly disparage, and who makes a habit out of pitting Americans against each other. This latest example of the President attacking Fox News should be shocking, but sadly this sort of behavior has become commonplace for the Obama administration.
Obama went after Fox in an interview with Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner for an upcoming issue of the magazine. The cover story is titled “Obama Fights Back”:
[Laughs] Look, as president, I swore to uphold the Constitution, and part of that Constitution is a free press. We’ve got a tradition in this country of a press that oftentimes is opinionated. The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition — it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view. It’s a point of view that I disagree with. It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world. But as an economic enterprise, it’s been wildly successful. And I suspect that if you ask Mr. Murdoch what his number-one concern is, it’s that Fox is very successful.
There is so much wrong with this, one hardly knows where to start. First of all…why single out Fox News? Why not the grotesque, left-wing biased MSNBC? Fox News is far and away the most watched and most trusted cable news station. Why alienate all those viewers who represent mainstream America? It doesn’t even make sense, unless you look at him not as President of the United States, but a radical organizer/agitator, trying to fire up his left-wing minions.
Does he have any idea how unpresidential this bitchy sniping makes him look?
As Drew at AoSHQ says:
Can you imagine if George W. Bush spent 1/10 the time whining like a little girl about the press that Obama does?
Obama is the most thin skinned, lying, anti-prosperity, anti-American exceptionalism President in memory and he’s lecturing people about what is destructive to America? The irony, it burns!
Call me when Fox News has put this country on a path to fiscal ruin. Call me when Fox News has endangered the health care of nearly every American. And call me when Fox News has sold out freedom loving allies to authoritarian thugs.
Until then Mr. President…shut the f*ck up.
And like Drew goes on to say, this “golden age of an objective press” of which he speaks, is when liberals had a monopoly of all three network news stations. And now that there’s one that doesn’t shut out conservative voices, (which, it turns out, are the ones most Americans want to hear), libs have to throw their wittle temper tantwums. You expect to see that in the comment sections of Daily Kos, or Democratic Underground. But to hear the President of the United States talk that way is beyond sickening.

Remember when Obama gave the finger to Hillary? Does anyone doubt anymore that it was an accident?

Come 2013, I suspect Obama will have lots of time to disparage and demonize his opponents….while relaxing poolside at his exile villa on the French Riviera. 😉

I guess obama isn’t looking at foxnews’ ratings on weekdays, especially.
Go to the link below.
The weekend numbers aren’t the ones that impress.
The weekday numbers indicate foxnews running circles around the other cable news shows during primetime.
Beck is BEFORE primetime and he just blows the others away.

It must be tough to not actually be able to “message” on everything you’re doing right. Still, he could always resign, instead.
