This is what happens when moonbats take over school boards:
A school in Florida has not only banned Christmas — but everything associated with the Christian holiday.
Teachers at Heathrow Elementary School have been ordered to banish images of Santa Claus from classrooms — along with traditional Christmas colors like red and green.
“You can’t use red and green,” one outraged parent told WESH. “It’s ridiculous.”
The parent, who serves as a volunteer room mother, said she was recently given a list of guidelines that listed the holiday restrictions.
She said the basic theme of the letter was, “We don’t want to offend anyone who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus or the Christian beliefs.”
That last bit is so unctuous, disingenuous, and and insulting, it’s making my eyes water. Conflating belief in Santa with belief in Jesus is a favorite militant atheist ploy.
So by not offending a few atheists (and kids who don’t believe in Santa Clause?), they wind up offending the vast majority of people who would like to see their children experience the holiday in a normal, traditional manner.
Nobody is advocating that Christianity be pushed on children at school, but since Christmas is an official state holiday, schools should feel free to recognize it with traditional images, songs and carols. ” Winter festival” is not an official anything, and deserves no special attention, so what’s the point of “celebrating the season” with some bland, meaningless, winter theme? Kids learn about the seasons in first grade.
A district spokesperson told WESH that so far no parents have complained.
No, it looks like they’re going right over their heads to complain about their stupidity to the local media.

That’s what’s so disgustingly disingenuous about it, is…if they really were concerned about offending people, they wouldn’t be offending the sensibilities of the vast majority of people (look at the results of the poll) who believe Christmas images should be allowed in school. And they wouldn’t be mocking Christian beliefs by comparing them to belief in Santa Clause.
This is anti-Christian, militant atheism at work, nothing more.

Disgusting process of divesting us of our culture. This is a program to render the U.S. into a mere geographic territory without an overarching culture. I hope these parents send their kids to school in red and green every day, and break into the school building and do some guerrilla decorating.

One of the things I never understood is why the majority puts up with these shenanigans.
Fortunately, my wife and I put our two through private Catholic schools K-12, but if I had not been able to afford to do so, I would have simply walked into the principal’s office in mass and said, “You are offending 93% of us parents. And I propose you have a change of heart or we will withdrawal any and all support from your school and will in mass use your name in vain to expose your gross incompetence, including the state school board in every media, venue and capacity available.” And do so.
These goons don’t have you over the ringer like so many people think. It’s way past due to play hardball with these jackboots.

This is how the left works. They worm their way into positions of power, and when the majority of people recoil in disgust at their policies, they’re called, “extremists”, or haters, or bigots. And nobody likes being called those names, so they shut up.

I’ll bet the idiots don’t want prayer either.
Get all the parents and students in on it and have one student in each room “sneeze” at the same time each day…or change kids and times…set up a schedule !
Anyway, when they all sneeze at the same time on a specified day, ALL can say “Bless You”…and there’s your prayer.

Not me. 🙂 I wear the badge of hate monger, “extremist” and bigot proudly when some goose stepper from the left refers to me as much. Makes them mad as hell too when I tell them that. It’s like they have no response but emotion when their bluff is called.
I’ve witnessed tears to outrage in the response, always accompanied with red faces, the progressive version of speaking in tongues, and spittle. Guaranteed they never forget you.
But I’m sure you’re right as I’ve witnessed it on many occasions – a combination of apathy and cowardice, or more commonly revulsion with neo-paganism.
Got to take a stand on the kiddies, though. Rational sweethearts like you and the foolhardy like me need to start teaming up and end this nonsense once and for all.

Santa Claus comes from the European culture. Saint Nick, Sinter Klaas (Dutch), Father Christmas, &c. Saint Nicholas may be the original; he was known for his generous giving.
He’s always associated with the Christmas season. He shows up in Dickens’ “Christmas Carol” as Ghost of Christmas Present.
The image we see today originated here in the late 1800s, by newspaper cartoonist Thomas Nast.
The connection isn’t theological, just cultural – like the Christmas tree. And since it’s particularly Christian, it’s a favorite target of Muslims and atheists.
But going after red and green is way over the top. The Saudi Arabia flag is all green. Iraq’s is red, white, and black. Iran’s is red, white, and green. &c.
This is just another example of “tyranny of the minority”.
