Video: Natl. Black Chamber of Commerce Prez, Harry Alford Claims Obama Conspiring To Destroy NBCC

Harry Alford is the president and CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, and he’s a lot of fun to listen to. (You may remember his acrimonious confrontation with Barbara Boxer, at a Senate Hearing in 2009.)

Alford has nothing good to say about Obama, (who he calls a Marxist). He admits to voting for Obama because he was black and because he fell for the hope and change rhetoric. Now, he says support for Obama is waning in the black community, and he predicts that Obama will get only 35% of the black vote in the next election.

Shockingly, he charges that the Obama is conspiring to destroy the Black Chamber of Congress… and I don’t say that tongue in cheek. If what he is saying about the Obama White House is true, it is shocking:

Your Read of the Day: Krauthammer On Obama Doctrine

Charles Krauthammer takes Obama to task for his “doctrine” of “leading from behind”:

It is the fate of any assertive superpower to be envied, denounced and blamed for everything under the sun. Nothing has changed. Moreover, for a country so deeply reviled, why during the massive unrest in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan and Syria have anti-American demonstrations been such a rarity?

Who truly reviles America the hegemon? The world that Obama lived in and shaped him intellectually: the elite universities; his Hyde Park milieu (including his not-to-be-mentioned friends, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn); the church he attended for two decades, ringing with sermons more virulently anti-American than anything heard in today’s full-throated uprising of the Arab Street.

It is the liberal elites who revile the American colossus and devoutly wish to see it cut down to size. Leading from behind — diminishing America’s global standing and assertiveness — is a reaction to their view of America, not the world’s.

Other presidents have taken anti-Americanism as a given, rather than evidence of American malignancy, believing — as do most Americans — in the rightness of our cause and the nobility of our intentions. Obama thinks anti-Americanism is a verdict on America’s fitness for leadership. I would suggest that “leading from behind” is a verdict on Obama’s fitness for leadership.

Leading from behind is not leading. It is abdicating. It is also an oxymoron. Yet a sympathetic journalist, channeling an Obama adviser, elevates it to a doctrine. The president is no doubt flattered. The rest of us are merely stunned.

Read it all.

This is why Trump totally jumped the shark when he said Charles Krauthmmer was a “sad fool”. A sad fool is someone who calls everyone who disagrees with him, “stupid”, and gives speeches laced with F-bombs.

Another good one:

Michael Walsh at The New York Post: Change’ via executive power grab

So, our elected representatives in Congress may pass a law and a president may sign it, but if Obama decides — absent any Supreme Court ruling — that the law is unconstitutional, out it goes.

It all boils down to this: Are we to be a constitutional government with three distinct branches, or a single executive entity that makes policy, carries it out and decides for itself whether it’s constitutional or not?

That’s what the next presidential race is really all about.

“Today Was a Fun Day”, Says Obama After Tornadoes Rampage Through Six States Killing 250

More not-so-great optics for the President.

Reuters

Via Weasel Zippers:

NEW YORK — President Barack Obama plunged into donor-rich New York on Wednesday, his first fundraising sweep of the city since announcing his re-election bid this month, with a lament that he has not seen his wish for less-polarizing politics realized. . . .

“Today was a fun day,” Obama said at his first fundraising event at Corzine’s apartment. “Nobody checked my ID at the door. But it was also a serious day because part of what happened this morning was me trying to remind the press and trying to remind both parties that what we do in politics is not a reality show. It’s serious.”

Does anyone in his administration have an ounce of sensitivity?

Daley was brought in to help smooth out the rough edges according to White House Dossier’s Keith Koffler, who said over a month ago when “Obama’s trivial pursuits” in the midst of a Middle East afire with rebellion, Japan’s earthquake and tsunami, and the budget battle, were causing  raised eyebrows:

The newly installed tandem of White House Chief of Staff William Daley and Senior Adviser David Plouffe were supposed to impart a new sense of discipline and purpose to the White House. Instead, they are permitting him to showcase himself as a poorly focused leader who has his priorities backward.

Two killer tornadoes later, it’s still happening.

Obama is making time to visit Alabama Friday, before his trip to Cape Canaveral to see the shuttle launch.

The Politico: A Tornado Menaces President’s Favorite Golf Course

The weather team at corporate sibling WJLA Wednesday night confirmed a tornado touched down around the golf course at Andrews Air Force Base.

Prompting the comment of the day by Shredder3: The ONE day he’s not playing golf. What are the odds?

Wisconsin grocery stores are bracing for a big protest against the Governor, but protesters won’t be outside stores with pickets. Protesters are planning to place anti-Walker stickers on products made by businesses they believe support Governor Scott Walker. These illegal actions have grocery store owners worried.

Freedomworks: Discovered: An UNLIMITED Obamacare Slush Fund:

Just when we thought there were no more brazen audacities left to report about in Obamacare, here comes a doozy.

House Republicans have uncovered, tucked away in Section 1311(a) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), an UNLIMITED Obamacare implementation slush fund.

That’s right.  Unlimited.

An open tap on the US Treasury, this little gem — discovered by Representative Fred Upton (R-Mich.), chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee — can be used for anything the President wants to spend taxpayer money on, under the guise of “actitivites related to establishing” Obamacare health benefit exchanges.

This is what Pelousy meant when she said we had to pass the bill to see what was in it.

***

So, assuming as we should the legitimacy of the long-form birth certificate produced yesterday, the only thing that makes sense is that Obama knows the mainstream media is in his hip pocket. That is, he knew that he would not be held to the same standard as other politicians, and that if he acted in an unreasonable manner by withholding basic, easily available information that any other person seeking the presidency would be expected — be compelled — to produce, the media would portray as weirdos those demanding the information, not Obama and his stonewalling accomplices. And he also knows that, having now finally produced the document only because the game was starting to hurt him politically, the media will not focus on how easy it would have been to produce the birth certificate three years ago, or on how much time and money has been wasted by his gamesmanship; they’ll instead portray him as beleaguered and the people who have been seeking the basic information (i.e., doing the media’s job) as discredited whackos.

It’s hard to say what’s more depressing, Obama’s cynicism or the zeal with which the media does his bidding.

Read the whole thing. I agree with his analysis 100%.

Thaddeus McCotter, (who really should consider running for Prez) Human Events: In Praise of Our Republican Party:

Thus, Republicans seek to conquer a quartet of American challenges:

1.  The social, economic, and political upheavals of globalization—notably a persistent recession and the impending implosion of the industrial-welfare state.

2.  A borderless, worldwide war for freedom against evil, transnational enemies and rogue regimes.

3.  Communist China’s emergence as a strategic threat and rival model of governance.

4.  Moral relativism’s erosion of virtue within an exceptional nation built upon self-evident truths.

Taking heart despite the times, and rising to transcend America’s challenges, who are these inspiring Americans?

They are not billionaires, Beltway power brokers, or bromide pundits, who in their foolish hubris claim the mantle of “leadership” and the ability to manage America through their contributions, opinions, and “acts.”  For as Ronald Reagan observed:  “All great change in America begins at the dinner table.”

Around America’s transformational kitchen tables one finds seated Republicans: shopkeepers and workers, soldiers and first responders, teachers and artisans, students and retirees, among so many others.  They reject leftist defeatism and apocalyptic conservatism.  They know our nation’s best days are ahead, and they realize our generation’s defining moments of freedom will come not from the hands of Washington politicians, but from the hearts of the American people.

The Other McCain: VIDEO: Herman Cain Says, ‘Secure the Border. Not Pretend That We Want to Secure the Border — Secure the Border

Cain’s common-sense policy, supporting the right of states like Arizona to defend themselves against what can only be called a foreign invasion, is winning him more and more support among grassroots conservatives.

Just the other day, Rush Limbaugh called Cain “a guy who’s got it all”

He’s got my vote if he runs.

Yes, There Was A Kapiolani Maternity And Gynecological Hospital In 1961

I’m seeing a lot of chatter about the name of the hospital on Obama’s newly released birth certificate. Supposedly it’s wrong because the Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital didn’t exist in 1961. Well, I’ve already found evidence that it did, and I don’t even understand the reasoning behind the argument that it didn’t.

I first saw the allegation at The Smoking Gun, in the comments, yesterday, and have been seeing it all over the blogosphere ever since. The argument goes something like this:

Name of the Hospital Obama was supposedly born at should have been Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital until 1978. Then they merged with the Kapi‘olani Maternity Home in 1978 and became Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children.

See for yourself. Here is the link to the hospital website detailing their history… Lets see if they change their history now…

http://www.kapiolani.org/women-and-child…fault.aspx

Okay, so the link leads to the Kapi’olani Medical Center For Women And Children info page, which says:

A Century of Care for Hawaii’s Women and Children

This is the story of two hospitals: Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital and Kapi‘olani Maternity Home.

Concerned about the welfare of Hawaii’s mothers, Queen Kapi‘olani held luau and bazaars to raise the $8,000 needed to open Kapi‘olani Maternity Home in 1890. She endowed her legacy with “Kulia i ka nu‘u” or “Strive for the highest.”

In 1908, Albert and Emma Kauikeolani Wilcox donated $50,000 to start a children’s hospital. The community, concerned that two of every seven infants in Hawai‘i did not live to see their first birthday, rallied to match the Wilcox’s gift. A year later, Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital opened.

The two hospitals joined in 1978 to become Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. Staying true to its mission, the non-profit hospital has played a vital role in the health of Hawaii’s women, children and adolescents. It is staffed with highly skilled, compassionate physicians and nurses, dedicated to providing the finest care for Hawaii’s families:

A lot of people lack basic reading skills if they are taking from that that it was a children’s hospital until 1978. What started out as a maternity home, became The Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in 1958. This is from a PDF from HA Catholic Social Services, which referred unwed mothers to the Kapiolani Maternity Home/Hospital throughout the years:

What more, another Hawaiian birth certificate from a day after Obama was born has been posted online from the same hospital, (Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital):

As you can see, there should be no question whatsoever that there was a Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in 1961. It merged with the Children’s hospital to become The Kapi’olani Medical Center For Women And Children in 1978.

Now, you may see some  differences in the birth certificates. Obama’s is much…uh – newer looking. And the ID # in the top right hand corner is higher even though he was born a day earlier. But I’m sure there will be explanations for these things.

NRO’s  Nathan Goulding of National Review shot down the “layers” argument I’ve been seeing all over the place:

What’s plausible is that somewhere along the way — from the scanning device to the PDF-creation software, both of which can perform OCR (optical character recognition) — these partial/pseudo-text images were created and saved. What’s not plausible is that the government spent all this time manufacturing Obama’s birth certificate only to commit the laughably rookie mistake of exporting the layers from Photoshop, or whatever photo editing software they are meant to have used. It’s likely that whoever scanned the birth certificate in Hawaii forgot to turn off the OCR setting on the scanner. Let’s leave it at that.

I’ve confirmed that scanning an image, converting it to a PDF, optimizing that PDF, and then opening it up in Illustrator, does in fact create layers similar to what is seen in the birth certificate PDF. You can try it yourself at home.

I think the story here is that Obama was being a big, fat,  petulant jerk for refusing to release the thing until it started hurting him in the polls. That’s it. Time to move on.

Gas Pump Sticky Note Campaign Gaining Steam

The idea originated with the blogger, Disrupt the Narrative, who provided a PDF you could download and print. Now, a simpler sticky-note crusade is  gaining steam all across America. The Facebook site, The ‘Hope and Change’ Sticky Note Campaign,   is dedicated to spreading the word about this grassroots activism:

****** “America’s GAS-ROOTS movement”! ******

Purchase a pad of large sticky notes. Write on each one, “How’s that Hope & Change working out for you?” Every time you stop to fill your vehicle with gas, place your sticky note somewhere on the pump before you drive away. DO NOT be destructive in ANY way! Place your sticky note somewhere, so as not to impede the next customer’s ability to read the pump’s digital readout.

After placing your sticky note, please consider taking a digital picture, then uploading it to our wall. Please tell us in which city and state the picture was taken. This is meant to be a “quiet” protest by our silent majority of Americans, to be served upon this administration!! Thank you all for your support!

And the pump isn’t the only place people are sticking the stickies:

Places to stick your sticky’s!
1. The Gym
2. Food Stores, on food items, indicate the price of the item.
3. Gas Stations
4 Doctor’s Offices
5. Restrooms, on the toilet, sink, mirror, door, towel dispenser, etc.
6. Self Check Out Machines, right where the change comes out.
7. Hunting Clubs
8. Bars
9. Shopping carts, on the handle, baby seat, etc.
10. Bulletin Boards in stores
11. Red Boxes
12. Leave Fliers in empty shopping carts
13. Your Electric and Water Meters
14. Flea Markets
15. Resort Areas you visit
16 The “Mom and Pop” stores.
17. Your Computer, Bulletin Board, Desk, etc. at work! It will generate some questions.
18. ATM’s, where the money comes out.
19. Fast Food Drive, on the order screen.
20. Fast Food Restrooms, on the toilet, sink, mirror, door, towel dispenser, etc.
21. Car Washes
22. Laundromats

Here are some more pictures from the Facebook site:

sticky notes have gone up, too.

mass-produced stickies.

James M. Simpson at Big Government expresses the beauty of it all, very well:

The Left has stealthily worked for decades to forever change this country, with the Agitator-in-Chief’s policies threatening to push us all off the economic cliff before 2012. Yet the Left has an almost hysterical fear of the Tea Party, because it represents the one great unknown that the best laid plans of the Left– even with billions of Soros money – cannot foretell: the resourcefulness and spirit of Americans.

And that great, innovative American spirit has done it again. Without billions, millions, thousands, hundreds or even tens of dollars; without strategy sessions, focus groups, coordination with media “Journolists” or anything else, patriotic Americans have launched another devastating offensive in what has come to be called the “Sticky Note Campaign.”

Sticky notes and flyers are being attached to gas pumps, at grocery stores and retail outlets all over the country, reminding people who we can thank for all this “change.”

***

With typical Tea Party scruples, all the websites carrying this story urge would-be Sticky Note Campaigners not to be destructive in any way. They advise you to place the sticky note in such a way that it will not impede any customer’s ability to see prices, read the gas pump’s digital readout, or operate any of the equipment.

I would contrast this with the way Obama’s union buddies behave when they are trying to make a point, or the way a rally site looks after the Leftists leave versus the Tea Party, but you already know the answer.

Update, May 1:

Here’s mine.

I had to fill up three times, this weekend for a road trip I went on with my girls. We left one of these at the pump, each time.

Linked by Hyscience, and Doug Ross, thanks!
