Friday Free-For All

Just a few quick links, this Friday because I’ve REALLY got to get those cookies going.

First, some great Fast and Furious news that got short shrift because of all the focus on the stupid payroll tax showdown in Washington.

Matthew Boyle at The Daily Caller:

RNC chairman promises to make Fast and Furious a 2012 election theme:

“Obama’s leadership deficit in holding the members of his administration accountable demonstrates yet again that the president is taking Washington in the wrong direction and only making things worse,” said Preibus.

“If Obama won’t fire Holder, we will,” Priebus added. “We’ll fire the whole team in just 11 months.”

Priebus considers Obama’s continued support for Holder a sign of a consistent lack of competence in the administration. He said that although Holder is ultimately responsible for Fast and Furious, the president refuses to hold him accountable.

Another House hearing has been set up for Holder on January 24th, but it remains to be seen whether or not he comes. If he refuses to cooperate, I expect two things to happen. Either Obama cuts him lose (which I doubt) – or impeachment proceedings begin. From what I gleaned from Dec. 8th hearing, the House Republicans are through dinking around with this.

Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman has directed the staff of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, which he chairs, to investigate miscommunication between law enforcement agencies related to the Justice Department’s Operation Fast and Furious. A spokesperson told The Daily Caller Wednesday that Lieberman “believe[s] that the lack of interagency coordination along the border merits further examination, and as Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, he has directed his staff to follow up with the relevant federal agencies on that topic.”

Some reports suggest that the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Agency and Immigration and Customs Enforcement were also involved in some manner or another with the operation.

For instance, Pajamas Media reported that the night Terry was killed, an FBI informant was in the drug cartel rip crew that used Fast and Furious weapons to murder him. Rip crews are armed groups of bandits who work for specific drug cartels and try to rob rival cartel shipments and illegal immigrants as they’re crossing the border.

And just by amazing coinkydink, Sipsey Street Irregulars reported yesterday:

Folks, just received this statement by email:

Statement from Alan D. Bersin, Commissioner, U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Earlier today, I notified the President of my intent to resign as Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection effective Dec. 30. I have expressed my deep gratitude and appreciation to President Obama and Secretary Napolitano for the opportunity to have led such an exceptional organization and for the confidence they have shown in me.

Gonna retire to spend more time with the family, no doubt.

Another of the many reasons Holder has to go:

Gateway Pundit: Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Deputies Turn in Federal Credentials As Attacks Continue:

Yesterday, dozens of Sheriff Joe’s deputies turned in their federal credentials during a press conference in Arizona.

FOX News reported, via Orbusmax:

Dozens of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s jail officers lined up at a news conference in Phoenix Wednesday to ceremoniously hand in their federal credentials a week after they were stripped of the ability to verify the immigration status of inmates.

Arpaio spoke at the same news conference, saying he’s going to hold the federal government to its promise to send 50 federal agents to do such screening in his jail. But he predicted there will be illegal immigrants in jail who won’t be deported and will be put back on streets.

On to politics….
Nearly every candidate now, has had their turn as “flavor of the month”, but the timing has been wrong for most of them. Perry peaked way too early, then had some bad debate performances…. Cain peaked and then flamed out amidst a smear campaign of sexual innuendos….The timing was almost right for Gingrich, but there is so much baggage there – both political and personal it’s hurting him, and Ron Paul, apparently because he has put almost all his eggs in the Iowa basket, has been surging there, but is in the process of flaming out as we speak as folks get to know him better through his racist newsletter.
Who’s left for conservative voters to turn to? (Not Mitt):
Robert Costa, NRO: Santorum, the Dark Horse
On the campaign trail over the past month, Santorum has frequently spoken about his youth. Yes, he served in the United States Senate from 1995 until he lost his 2006 reelection bid. But these days, in the eleventh hour of the primary, it’s his roots and principles, his scrappy persona, that are stirring renewed interest in his candidacy. In the latest Public Policy Polling survey, his Iowa support has risen, hitting 10 percent, a mere four points behind Newt Gingrich with less than two weeks until the caucuses. Those numbers are close to those of other second-tier contenders, but Santorum has something they do not: upward momentum.
Wouldn’t it be nice if Santorum peaked in a big way on January 3?
Points and Figures: Big Payroll Tax Cut:
The press is making this whole tax cut thing to be a big victory for Democrats. But is it? The disorganized Republicans passed a two month extension to the payroll tax cut. Some Republicans didn’t want to vote for a two month extension. They wanted a year long extension, 12 months. Or, you might say those that favored a longer tax cut wanted you to receive a 500% larger tax cut than the Democrats did.

Brent Bozell: Cultural Winners and Losers, 2011:

The depravity of our popular culture and our eagerness to shred traditional values manifests itself every day. Lady Gaga, the top-earning woman in the music business and deemed by ABCs Barbara Walters to be one of the “most fascinating people,” has a new vocation in mind. She’s announced she wants to become an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church so she can marry two gay male friends.

Lady Gaga is as unattractive, in every sense of the word, as her name is stupid. She welcomed Easter with a single called “Judas” (“I’m still in love with Judas, baby.”) and arrives at Christmas as Reverend Gaga. This is the same “instant online ordination” that TBS late-night host Conan O’Brien used in November in a disgusting scene to “marry” two gay males live on his television show. Gaga and Conan are two of the real cultural losers of 2011. Here are some other winners and losers:

Doug Ross: O The Irony!

The official public relations journal of the Democrat National Committee (sometimes referred to as The New York Times) offers this hilarious insight into Leftist logic:

A spokesman for President Obama‘s re-election campaign blasted Mr. Romney and questioned whether he had something to hide in his finances.

“Why does Governor Romney feel like he can play by a different set of rules?” said Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the Obama campaign. “What is it that he doesn’t want the American people to see? Governor Romney, who has favored secrecy over openness time after time, should live up to the same standard of disclosure his father and others set.”

Go right ahead and play that card, Obami – we’re ready for you…

Weasel Zippers: BREAKING: Obama’s DOJ Formally Rejects South Carolina’s Voter ID Law, Claim It Will Discriminate Against Minorities…

The Friday afternoon before Christmas weekend, you think they’re trying to keep this out of the news? Especially when you consider polls show 70% support voter ID laws.

Yep, Obama is clearly planning to steal it.

2012 is going to be an interesting year.

  1. So Stefani J. Angelina Germanotta wants to become a ULC minister? That’s really not hard. You can do it online, for free.

    However, there’s a catch:

“Please only put your true and legal name (*nicknames will invalidate your ordination).”

    About the candidates:

“… Nearly every candidate now, has had their turn as “flavor of the month”, ”

And one by one, they’ve been shot down, mostly by the other candidates. Pretty soon there’ll be nobody left. All Obama has to do is sit back, watch the dogfight, relax, and renew the lease on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  4. What’s the old joke? Oh, yeah. She was so ugly when she was born the doctor slapped her MOM!

And she still is. And no one in her world has the guts to tell her she’s just being a slut, not a sex kitten.

“Transparency is fine for thee, but not for me.” (J. Carnival, Duh-1’s spokesman, quoting his boss in response to the question of why Obhammud’s administration has the transparency of a lead blanket.)
