Monday Morning Catch-Up

I thought I’d start my blogging week by reviewing a few stories you may have missed over the busy holiday weekend. My New Year’s resolution is to do everything in my power to see the Obama criminal cartel kicked out of Washington on January 20, 2013. That means we are going to have to go over the heads of the MSM to get news stories out there. Even after repeated abuse from the administration, like battered housewives, the media continues to shill for their man. See Tom Blume at PJ Media for Ten 2011 Examples of Major Media Malfeasance. Here are John Hawkins’ 50 Most Obnoxious Quotes Of 2011 (8th Annual), Judicial Watch’s‘Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians’ for 2011: Executive Edition.

It also means we are going to have to unite 100% around whomever the Republican candidate (save Paul) turns out to be. Reagan’s 11th Commandment should be in full effect after our nominee is announced. No more handing ammo to the enemy. Whatever our candidate’s shortcomings, (and they all have them) none compare to the unmitigated SCOAMF that currently leads us.

There can be no rest for conservative America in 2012.

You may remember my post from last August, where I posted video of Tarek Fatah, a liberal Canadian writer, broadcaster, and political activist who said in a speech, “Today in the White House there are three members of the Muslim Brotherhood that influence Obama’s policy.

  • One is Rashad Hussain of Indian origin who is the American Ambassador to the 52 nation organization of Islamic countries.
  • Dialia Mogahed who writes his speech who comes from the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
  • Just day before yesterday, another woman, an academic, was appointed in that circle.

In 2011, we we saw that influence bear much fruit.

Daniel Greenfield lays it out with gut-wrenching clarity: The Year We Lost Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and Most of the Middle East:

2011 will indeed be remembered, but not because of any Arab Spring or OWS nonsense. It will be a pivotal year in the rise of the next Caliphate. A rise disguised by angry protesters waving cell phones and flags. And clueless media coverage that treated Tahrir Square as the new fall of the Berlin Wall.

This was the year that Obama helped topple several regimes that served as the obstacles to Islamist takeovers.

The biggest fish that Ibn Hussein speared out of the sea for Al-Qaradawi was Egypt, a prize that the Islamists had wanted for the longest time, but had never managed to catch. That is until the Caliph-in-Chief got it for them. Egyptian Democracy splits the take between the Brotherhood and the Salafists, whom the media is already quick to describe as moderates. First up against the wall are the Christians. Second up against the wall are the Jews. Third up is all that military equipment we provided to the Egyptian military which will shortly be finding its way to various “moderate militants” who want to discuss our foreign policy with us.

The ugliest part of this story isn’t what Obama did. It’s when he did it. If he really had no interest in winning Afghanistan, and if as he had said, the Taliban are not our enemy, then why did we stay for so long and lose so many lives fighting a war that the White House had no intention of winning? The ugly conclusion that must be drawn from the timing of the Iraq and Afghanistan withdrawals is that the wars were being played out to draw down around the time of the next election.

What that means is Obama sacrificed the thousands of Americans killed and wounded in the conflict as an election strategy. The idea that American soldiers were fighting and dying for no reason until the time when maximum political advantage could be gained from pulling them out is horrifying, it’s a crime beyond redemption, an act worse than treason—and yet there is no other rational conclusion to be drawn from the timetable.

If the Taliban were not our enemy, then the war should have ended shortly after the election. Instead Obama threw more soldiers into the mix while tying their hands with Rules of Engagement that prevented them from defending themselves or aggressively going after the Taliban. Casualties among US soldiers and Afghan civilians increased. Now the Taliban are no longer our enemy and we are negotiating a withdrawal.

There are only two possible explanations. Either we lost the war or Obama never intended to win it and was allowing the Taliban to murder American soldiers until the next election. If so we’re not just looking at a bad man at the teleprompter, we are looking into the face of an evil so amoral that it defies description.

But whatever motives we may attribute to the Obama Administration the outcome of its policies in backing the Arab Spring with influence, training and even weapons is indisputable. What Carter did to Persia, Obama has done to Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan and that’s not the whole of the list.

Read it all – especially his conclusion, which is not as gloomy as you might think.

At NRO, Andrew McCarthy writes this depressing missive:

The surrender is complete now. The Hindureports that the Obama administration has turned to Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Muslim Brotherhood’s leading jurist, to mediate secret negotiations between the United States and the Taliban.

I wrote about Qaradawi at length in The Grand Jihad and, here at NRO, have regularly catalogued his activities (see, e.g., here, here, here, here, and here; see also Andrew Bostom’s “Qaradawi’s Odious Vision”). For those who may be unfamiliar with him, he is the most influential Sunni Islamist in the world, thanks to such ventures as his al-Jazeera TV program (Sharia and Life) and website (IslamOnline.net). In 2003, he issued a fatwa calling for the killing of American troops in Iraq. As he put it,

Those killed fighting the American forces are martyrs given their good intentions since they consider these invading troops an enemy within their territories but without their will. . . . Although they are seen by some as being wrong, those defending against attempts to control Islamic countries have the intention of jihad and bear a spirit of the defense of their homeland.

After thousands of young Americans have laid down their lives to protect the United States from jihadist terror, President Obama apparently seeks to end the war by asking Qaradawi, a jihad-stoking enemy of the United States, to help him strike a deal that will install our Taliban enemies as part of the sharia state we have been building in Afghanistan. If the Hindu report is accurate, the price tag will include the release of Taliban prisoners from Gitmo — an element of the deal Reuters has also reported. The administration will also agree to the lifting of U.N. sanctions against the Taliban, and recognition of the Taliban as a legitimate political party (yes, just like the Muslim Brotherhood!). In return, the Taliban will pretend to forswear violence, to sever ties with al-Qaeda, and to cooperate with the rival Karzai regime.

It would mark one of the most shameful chapters in American history.

Professor Jacobson snarks, “but he got bin Laden“. So there’s that.

Melissa Clouthier: President Selfish: Obama Spends Christmas Golfing, Marines Can’t Be Home With Family:

…basically, the President ruins the Christmas of some Marines so he can play golf on the military base which causes a complete shut down around the base around Christmas.

President Obama seems to have no class and no empathy for those working around him. Unlike President Bush, who took the secret services’ needs into account, President Obama, his royal wife and the royal family go to Hawaii. This makes the lives difficult of the secret service.

And as the above demonstrates, the Marines in Hawaii and their families are deprived of Christmas, too.

President Obama is President Selfish. Shameful.

In case you haven’t heard, the Obama endorsed OWS movement is now occupying school classrooms.

J Christian Adams reports at Big Government:

Keeping politics out of government run schools requires constant vigilance.  In recent years, political ideology has been brazenly imposed on students across the country.  Woodbrook Elementary School in Charlottesville, Virginia, provides the latest example of a government school imposing left wing ideology, this time with the Marxist rhetoric of the Occupy movement.

Woodbrook Elementary, (principal Lisa Molinaro), allowed leftist activists into the school to train third graders in writing songs which were performed at an assembly organized by an outside group –  Kid Pan Alley – in October of this year.  The tune the 3rd graders “wrote” and performed could have come from the soundtrack at Zuccotti park, minus the drug overdoses and rapes.

Some people have it all,
but they don’t think that they have enough
They want more money
A faster ride
They’re not content
Never satisfied

Yes-  they are the 1 percent
I used to be one of the 1 percent
I worked all the time
Never saw my family
Couldn’t make life rhyme
Then the bubble burst
It really, really hurt
I lost my money
Lost my pride
Lost my home
Now I’m part of the 99
I used to be sad now I’m satisfied
Cause I really have enough
Though I lost my yacht and plane
Didn’t need that extra stuff
Could have been much worse
You don’t need to be first
Cause I’ve got my friends
Here by my side
Don’t need it all
I’m happy to be part of the 99.

I took the liberty of creating a fun coloring page for Woodbrook Elementary to use with the lesson plan:

Jeffrey Kuhner of the Washington Examiner asks the $64,000 question: Will Obama steal the 2012 election?

Mr. Holder evidently wants to scuttle ID laws because he knows which organization will be hurt most: ACORN. For years, community activist groups, such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, have engaged in massive electoral fraud – registering illegal aliens, offering bribes to numerous politically disinterested people in the inner cities as inducements to vote and pushing underage and multiple voting. Election reform, therefore, is a stake aimed at the heart of Democratic corruption and ACORN’s power. Clean up the voter rolls and Mr. Obama’s re-election is in serious jeopardy.

It is perverse to have a society that requires a photo ID to go through airport security, drive a car, purchase expensive consumer goods using Mastercard or Visa (as happened to me recently when I bought a stack of DVDs and the cashier asked for my driver’s license to check against credit card theft) or get a simple library card, but not to cast a ballot – the most sacred act of citizenship in a deliberative democracy.

Mr. Holder is a shameless demagogue. He has become the Democratic Party’s new Al Sharpton: Everything is seen through the lens of race. He has refused to prosecute members of the New Black Panther Party, who in the 2008 election stood at a polling booth wielding clubs in a blatant attempt at voter intimidation. Career Justice Department lawyers admitted that Mr. Holder’s policy is not to go after black perpetrators whose victims are white. He insists that Republican criticism leveled at him over Operation Fast and Furious is because of his race – not the obvious fact that, under his watch, thousands of guns were illegally smuggled into Mexico, resulting in hundreds of deaths including a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Mr. Holder says his department’s aim is to “expand the franchise.” This begs the question: Expand it for whom?

Also at the Washington Times, Robert Knight cuts to the chase: Voter ID terrifies Democrats:

The stakes are enormous, and the Obama administration is quite aware of the danger posed by an aroused electorate on a level playing field.

With the economy in a ditch, their only hope of stemming the conservative tide might be to rig the returns, especially where political machines still prevail.

People are so on to this…

Ken Blackwell: Holder’s Race-Baiting Ruse Is About Obama’s Reelection, Not Voting Rights:

Every eligible citizen has a duty to vote. But as we explain in our book Resurgent: How Constitutional Conservatism Can Save America, it is a duty to cast an informed vote. Although there are only so many hours in the day, we each need to make an effort to gather enough information to understand the major issues facing our nation, state, and community, and to carefully vote for candidates who offer the best solutions for our long-term safety and prosperity.

Because voting is a duty, and also because every voter has the right to ensure his or her valid vote is not diluted by fraudulent votes, citizens can be expected to fulfill certain requirements that would not be justified when exercising other rights, such as free speech or the free exercise of religion. Measures such as showing up at the correct place on the correct day to cast a ballot under the watchful eyes of trained precinct personnel are examples of fulfilling our duty, as is showing valid ID to prove that you are the person listed on that precinct’s voter rolls.

It’s obvious that they are going to try to steal it. Are we going to let them succeed?

And from RS McCain covering the Caucuses in Iowa: Hope in the Heartland:

Santorum makes his case as the man to beat Romney — and Obama.

If the numbers in the final Des Moines Register poll are accurate, however, Santorum’s closing surge may be strong enough to vault him into second place, ahead of Paul — a result which would turn the “electability” argument on its head. How can Gingrich and Perry’s advocates claim that they are credible alternatives to Romney, if they can’t even beat a low-budget underdog campaign like Santorum’s? And what does it say for the vaunted superiority of those other campaigns that they failed to realize Santorum was moving ahead here until it was too late for them to respond effectively? The same might be said for another Republican candidate who has banked heavily on Iowa, Rep. Michele Bachmann. At her headquarters in Urbandale, Bachmann’s campaign on Friday was still distributing a slick full-color flyer promoting her as a “consistent conservative.” The flyer contrasts her record to Romney, Perry, and Gingrich, but doesn’t mention either Santorum or Paul. Craig Robinson of the influential IowaRepublican.com website said Sunday that the Bachmann flyer was probably printed before anyone realized that Paul and Santorum would be top contenders here. Similarly, when the Perry campaign went on the attack here against Santorum last week — reportedly after their own internal polling showed the Pennsylvanian pulling away — they could only use a radio ad, because it was too late to produce and book time for a TV commercial.

From Jack Cashill in the American Thinker, we have: Witch Hunt in the Heartland:

The story that follows has taken place in and around Kansas City.  But it could have unfolded in any city in which a stealthily leftist publication has a near monopoly on the production and distribution of news — in other words, just about every city in America.

“Monsignor backed the four altar boys up against the wall, “shoulder to shoulder.” writes Judy Thomas of the Kansas City Star. “Then he forced them to perform sexual acts on each other and on him.”

“If you ever tell,” the monsignor reportedly warned the boys, “you’ll be kicked out of the Catholic Church, your parents will disown you, and you’ll die and go to hell.”

So begins Thomas’s ultra-Gothic, front-page series, “The Altar Boys’ Secret,” served up by the Star just in time for Christmas.

Although the Catholic League has accused Thomas of “anti-Catholic bigotry,” the accusation is too narrow.  A local evangelical leader has more precisely identified the Star’s larger goal, namely the “the destruction of the Christian pillars that have stabilized the country for more than two centuries.”

Michelle Malkin: Did you miss the Christmas White House visitor log document dump?

Once again, the new batch reveals even more visits from Robert Creamer — five visits with White House staffers on September 7, 12, 14, 16, and 21including Stephanie Valencia, Jon Carson, and health care czar NancyAnn DeParle.

Creamer is the convicted felon, Huffington Post/Alinskyite agitator, and husband of Illinois Democrat Rep. Jan Schakowsky. As I noted at Thanksgiving, Creamer was at the White House five times in August 2011 meeting with various officials, including Jon Carson, Cecilia Munoz, and Stephanie Cutter. The Obamacare godfather and Occupy Wall Street promoter is listed some 60 other times in visitor logs since the start of the administration.

Nothing to see here, move along

Duly noted.
