Video: Issa to Megan Kelly, ‘Yes, We Have Reason Not To Trust DOJ Inspector General, Cynthia Schnedar’

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, went on Fox News, Tuesday,  to discuss the latest developments in the investigation of the Justice Department’s criminally insane Operation Fast & Furious.

Anyone who has watched any of Attorney General Eric Holder’s testimonies before Congress has heard the “special privilege” excuse, which he uses profusely to avoid answering difficult questions.

Megyn Kelly wanted to know if there is anything to that: Is the special privilege excuse legit?

Issa answered that although they “want to respect the history of executive privilege, he’s not asserting executive privilege…you don’t make up a privilege against embarrassment.”

Another good question, Megan Kelly asked, “what would be the tipping point for you in terms of a Contempt of Congress charge?”

Issa explained that it is a rather arcane system –it’s voted on in the house, and then goes the US Attorney in the Dist of Columbia, (and that court of course is part of the DOJ), which Issa concedes presents a “challenge”, because “will he respect the fact that he has an independent sworn obligation…”

“It’s very rare that anyone in an administration is held in contempt”, he says, but  “the history is that they eventually comply”.

Perhaps Issa needs to be reminded that this administration has a tendency toward “historic firsts”.

Megyn brought up the IG’s investigation, “she’s looking into it, she’s got the documents, trust in Cynthia. Do you have reason not to trust in Cynthia?” Issa laughed in response, “boy do we”.

“She actually released tapes that were not hers to release and released them to the object of the one of our investigations….”

Issa was referring to Schnedar’s unlawful release of secret tape recordings that corroborated allegations of misconduct in Operation Fast and Furious, which undermined and obstructed the House investigation.

“After a year, if an IG hasn’t issue at least a preliminary report, hasn’t seen that someone is either prosecuted or fired, you have to question, basically, how long does it take to find out who lied to Congress, how long does it take to find out who authorized a felony stupid … a ‘dangerous reckless program’ by the Atty Gen’s own statement.  If you can’t find one person accountable in a year, are you really trying?”

I have a similar question for Chairman Issa, who has been investigating this criminal debacle for a year, now. If you can’t hold Holder accountable after he perjured himself,  are YOU really trying?

For those of us who are sick and tired of the slow drip/drip/drip of the House investigation, wondering when the @#$% something is going to be done already, mindful of one of Harry S. Truman’s most famous utterances —Mike Vandenboegh, fresh out of surgery, has this to say: Oh, shut up and indict his ass for perjury already. Or surrender your legitimacy once and for all.

Attorney General Eric Holder, who became news again over the weekend for a 1995 campaign to demonize guns and gun-owners and who tried to use the terror attacks of  9/11to justify gun control, pushed to reinstate the so-called “assault weapons” ban.

What excuse did Holder use to argue for reinstating the law? Guess.

“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

“I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum,” Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also made similar pleas, predicated on gun violence committed with U.S. guns in Mexico.

We know for a fact that Operation Fast and Furious was designed by the Obama administration to put American weapons in the hands of Mexican cartels to kill Mexican citizens, and that the guns recovered in those deaths would be used to call for more gun control.

Hundreds died in a plot that appears to have been designed to impose gun control. It’s past time for the appointment of an independent prosecutor, and to press for criminal charges against those responsible for the carnage that has resulted from the deadliest scandal in U.S. government history.

Dick Morris: Holder Concealed Evidence Of Gunrunner’s Release:

In a letter to Holder this week, Congressional Republicans investigating Fast and Furious asked the Justice Department why Acosta wasn’t arrested in May of 2010. They also want to know why the Justice Department failed to turn over the documents on Acosta’s detainment and release, which were covered under a longstanding subpoena.

The Acosta case did not come to public notice until it was reported by CBSNews on May 19, 2012.

Compare the Fast and Furious program with the Arms-Contra scandal in the late 80s.  In Iran-Contra, we supplied weapons to patriots in Nicaragua fighting the communists and Reagan almost got impeached for it.  Here we are supplying arms to drug dealers and Holder won’t supply Congress with information about it.  It’s time Holder was forced to go.
