Your Easter Sunday Hymn: Jesus Christ Is Risen Today!

In case I haven’t mentioned it before – yes, I do have a thing for boys choirs. This one’s especially good –  the King’s College Cambridge choir, Easter, 2011,  singing Jesus Christ is Risen today arr. Stephen Cleobury.

Enjoy, and Happy Easter, everybody!

Lyrics:

Lyrics to Jesus Christ Is Risen Today:
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once, upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!

But the pain which He endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation hath procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky He’s king, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing, Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
Praise eternal as His love, Alleluia!
Praise Him, all you heavenly host, Alleluia!
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia!

  1. Deb, I hope you excuse my unrelated (to your post) comment. A few weeks back you posted about Obama’s birth certificate and I made objection to the notion that the fact the image was ‘layered’ was offered as a significant factor in determining origin. Perhaps you recall? Today I ran across a posting of interest – as it effectively answers my concern.

The post includes an image showing the layers in the supposed birth certificate. It notes/shows that the layers are not specific to blocks of text as would be the case if my original assumptions had been correct.
I was wrong. You were right. Hope you have a good day.

  2. in church right now. Realized that sunday service is in need of more inter-activity, more connectivity. Some times, a connected device is a great ice breaker, as much as we recognize each other’s faces, we don’t necessarily know each other. Thoughts ?

  3. Thanks for the great choir performance! I am a little disapointted in the political commentary attached to such a beautiful song on my favorite holiday

  6. Beautiful song and video, but it is not “Jesus Christ is Risen today”, it is “Praise to the Lord the Almighty”.
