Romney Jet ski Photo Somehow a “Gift” to Democrats

The liberal media is downright embarrassing itself, now.  First, the way the Romney’s traveled with their dog on vacation was supposed to be a huge scandal, then it was the expose on Romney’s ‘shocking’ bully-boy antics in prep school, then it was Ann Romney’s supposed bizarre and unseemly love of horseback riding, then Romney supposedly had a “supermarket scanner moment” because he was so “amazed” by WaWa’s touchtone ordering thingie.

All of those bombshell stories were supposed to damage Romney’s campaign, but they fizzled badly.

They’ve really got the goods on them, this time, though….

Feast your eyes on these two insanely extravagant one percenters vacationing as only the richest of the rich can:

Whoever heard of such a thing? Americans – on vacation – on a lake – on a JET SKI!!11!

Seriously, I’m blushing for this Boston Globe columnist, Joan Vennochi – she must have drawn the short straw, or something,  to write something this hack-worthy:

The last thing Mitt Romney needs is a John Kerry moment that conjures up F. Scott Fitzgerald’s description of the very rich: “They are different from you and me.”

But like an early Independence Day gift to Democrats, there it was: the image of a grinning Mitt and wife, Ann, enjoying a perfect summer day on a jet ski on Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, N.H., where the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee owns a lust-inducing lakefront vacation home. The photo of the contented pair skimming joyfully over the water is a natural bridge to the next, less-quoted, line from Fitzgerald’s 1926 short story, “The Rich Boy”: “They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft, where we are hard, cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand.”

It’s a Kerry moment, that’s what it is.

Romney would say he was born comfortable, and not as rich as he became from investing in struggling companies, and making millions whether they lived or died.(the fiend) But, during a slow holiday news week, the photo was featured in newspapers and websites, including the Romney-friendly Drudge Report. It was quickly compared with a September 2004 shot of Kerry windsurfing off Nantucket, tacking back and forth in the gusty air. Back then, Republicans swiftly turned the footage of the Democratic presidential nominee, which was also taken by news crews, into a deadly campaign spot that hit on two levels. It showed a candidate in an elite setting, engaged in a sport not considered a touchstone for the common man or woman. It also reminded voters of Kerry’s propensity for shifting with political winds.

Let me make something clear. Lurch wasn’t ridiculed just because he was fulfilling every preconceived notion anyone ever had about him by engaging in a sport “not considered a touchstone for the common man or woman.”  Not to be mean, but – he was ridiculed because he looked like a dork:

Kerry, reminding voters of his “propensity for shifting with political winds” (AKA windsurfing)

I wonder why she threw in that bit about “reminding voters of his propensity for shifting with political winds”….It seems weird and out of place. Did people really think that about the photo?  Or is she trying to make a cute little passive aggressive dig at Romney….hmmm…gosh….I just can’t say…

I think most voters remember that Kerry had a knack for looking dorky in photo ops throughout the entire 2004 campaign. The windsurfing pic was just one of many goofy pics conservatives hooted at.

The Romney picture on the other hand, is perfectly fine. They both look very fit for their ages, and Romney looks mildly embarrassed to be taking a back set to his lovely wife. It’s a charming picture.

Unfortunately for Kerry, too many of the pictures from his 2004 campaign reeked of “photo op” and had an aura of trying too hard to make him look cool, or human, or normal….and it didn’t work.

The very MSMers who are trying to make political hay out of the Romneys going for a ride on jet skis, probably averted their eyes every time the Obama’s went on one of their many expensive, truly extravagant vacations. Michelle and the girls’ Aspen vacation last February, in fact, marked the 16th vacation in 3 years for Obama family.

Here is a full list of the 16 vacations, first compiled by The Washington Examiner:

— President’s Day 2012, Michelle and the girls go to Aspen to ski.
— Christmas 2011, the first family goes to Hawaii for an extended vacation.
— Summer 2011, the family visits Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., for the annual beach break.
— June 2011, the first lady, her mother and daughters travel to South Africa and Botswana.
— President’s Day 2011, the first lady and first daughters travel to Vail to ski.
— Christmas 2010, the first family goes to Hawaii.
— August 2010, post-BP oil spill beach trip to Panama City Beach, Fla.
— August 2010, Obama travels to Chicago alone for a weekend 49th birthday bash (and fundraiser).
— August 2010, the first lady and daughter Sasha travel to Spain for a mother-daughter vacation.
— August 2010, the family spends summer vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.
— July 2010, the first family goes to Mount Desert Island, Maine.
— May 2010, the first family takes a four-day trip to Chicago.
— March 2010, first lady and daughters spend spring break in New York City.
— Christmas 2009, the family goes to Hawaii for the winter break.
— August 2009, everyone heads to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon for a short vacation.
— August 2009, the first family takes its first vacation from the White House at Martha’s Vineyard.

Sooper Mexican wonders, “will they report that Obama loves to jet-ski too?”

When the Obama family vacations in Hawaii over the Christmas holiday each year, they traditionally spend a full day… jet-skiing, grilling, and playing volleyball.

Not to mention, all of those vacations are costing the taxpayers a fortune.
But that’s okay, they skipped their vacation to Martha’s Vineyard, this year, because it’s an election year, out of sensitivity to the American taxpayer during tough economic times.

Video: Rep Andre Carson Thinks American Schools Should Be Modeled after Madrassas

In a speech at the ICNA-MAS convention, last May,  Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) actually told those in attendance that America’s schools should be modeled after madrassas (Islamic schools).

Walid Shoebat notes:

Incidentally, the ICNA (Islamic Circle of North America) was identified in a 1991 Muslim Brotherhood document as one of 29 ‘like minded’ organizations. The goal of these organizations? According to the document itself:

“…their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands … so that … God’s religion [Islam] is made victorious over all other religions.”

MAS (Muslim American Society) was formed in 1992, one year after the date of the document, which might explain why they weren’t one of the 29. Bolstering that case further is the fact that MAS has identified two groups who are on the list of the notorious 29 – Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) as being like-minded.

Wonderful…the comments come 6:00 minutes in:

Not just no, but HELL NO to that.

Back in 2008, Michelle Malkin reported on the disturbing influence sharia was already having in our nation’s schools:

Sharia in the schools: Monitoring the American madrassa:

Katharine Kersten’s excellent investigative work on the Minnesota taxpayer-funded Islamic school, TIZA, has led to a state probe of the institution. It has also shed light again on the spread of sharia in U.S. secondary public schools.

You’ll remember the heated battle in San Diego over Muslim prayers in a public charter school.

You may recall the jihadi crossword puzzle discovered by parents in Johnston County, NC.

In Contra Costa (CA) County, school officials allowed Islam indoctrination lessons that subjected public school students to prayer recitation sessions and Muslim re-naming.

The Congressman from Indiana would like to see more of these outrages.

The name Andre Carson should ring a bell to tea party conservatives because he has repeatedly engaged in spurious and inflammatory attacks against the tea party.

At a town hall in Miami on August 22, 2011, during the August recess in which members of the Congressional Black Caucus traveled to five cities in what amounted to a “Spread Racial Division Tour”, Carson accused Tea Party-friendly members of Congress of wanting to bring back Jim Crow and went so far to accuse his colleagues of wanting to bring back lynching: Some of themwould love to see you and mehanging on a tree.”

And, as Big Journalism’s Larry O’Conner noted, Andre Carson is also the man who told the mother of all race-baiting lies against the Tea Party:
That racial slurs were screamed “fifteen times”at he and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) in Washington DC on the day before the ObamaCare vote in 2010.The headlines at the time (as well as Topic #1 on cable news and Sunday talk shows) was “Racist Tea Party Yells ‘N-Word’ at Civil Rights Icon John Lewis”. Andre Carson’s name was hardly mentioned in any of the stories. But a Big Government investigation revealed that it was he, in fact, who gathered Capitol Hill reporters around himself on March 20, 2010 and breathlessly told them what had happened “outside of Cannon (Congressional Office Building)” just moments before. (audio courtesy Kerry Pickett, Washington Times)
By now you know the story become part of Democratic Party lore showing up in talking points as recently as just last week as Alan Colmes mangled the “facts” but still was able to perpetuate the lie on Fox News’ “O’Reilly Factor”. You should also know by now that Andrew Breitbart offered a $100, 000 reward for anyone who can produce video proof o the supposed racial hatred. The only videos uncovered were found by the Big Government staff. They show the exact moment Carson described, “down the steps of Cannon”, from four different angles. Not only were there no slurs heard on any of the videos, but the scene is not at all how Carson described it to Capitol Hill reporters.
It’s almost like he lies about his enemies in order to defeat them. I wonder if there’s an Islamic word for that.

Here’s a little post-holiday, post-ObamaCare ruling pick-me-up created by Bullet People:

When diversion and distraction win each skirmish, you can get discouraged. A video of what’s at stake and who will take up the challenge of 2012, set to stirring orchestration.
