Audio: Mitt Romney on Fire in Irwin, PA, Today

Via John Hinderaker of Powerline, who says, Mitt knocked it out of the park:

By all accounts, Mitt Romney was sensational today in Pennsylvania. His theme was Barack Obama’s revelatory “you didn’t build that” speech. Over the lunch hour (here in the Midwest), Twitter was burning up with commentary from those who were watching Romney’s speech live. The commentary was unanimously euphoric. Romney spoke without teleprompter or notes, something Obama rarely does without getting into trouble. He was, everyone agreed, passionate and articulate. It seems that Obama’s attack on entrepreneurs and job creators, and his baldly stated conviction that everyone owes everything to government, was the spark that Romney needed. It will be interesting to see how his speech is reported on tonight.

I searched YouTube for the full video, but there were only a few short clips. You can watch some video clips at Powerline.

Here’s a near full length audio of the speech put up:

John is right that Romney was at his best when talking about Obama’s recent remarks denigrating business owners. He said:

“President Obama exposed what he really thinks about free people and the American vision and government, and what he really thinks about America, itself. He probably wants to understand why his policies failed…if you wanna understand why his policies have failed, , why what he has done has not created jobs, or rising incomes in America, you can look at what he said. And what he said was this, and I quote, (and he’s speaking by the way of businesses, like this one, small businesses, big businesses, middle sized businesses, mining businesses, manufacturing, service,  businesses of all kind. He said this , If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” (Boooooooo!) That somebody else is government in his view. He goes on to describe the people who deserve the credit for building this business, and he  describes the people we care very deeply about…school teachers firefighters, people who build roads, we need those things….you really couldn’t have a business if you didn’t have those things, but you know, we pay for those things. (Applause) The taxpayers pay for government. It’s not like the government just provides those things  for us, and we say, “oh thank you government for those things…”

“The idea that Steve Jobs didn’t build Apple, that Henry Ford didn’t build Ford Motors, that Papa John didn’t build Papa John’s Pizza, that Ray Crock didn’t build McDonalds, that Bill Gates didn’t build Microsoft – you go down the list… say something like this is not  just foolishness, it’s insulting to every innovator in America, and it’s wrong.”

He went on to say that what Obama said “was both startling and revealing. I find it extraordinary that a philosophy of that nature could be spoken by a President of the United States.”

I’ll take this guy over the preening, teleprompter-reading, Occupy-loving Marxist any day.

Arpaio Reveals Findings from Hawaiian Investigation – Concludes Obama’s BC is “Undoubtedly Fraudulent” (Video)

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced at a press conference earlier today,  that his  investigation into the validity of  Obama’s birth certificate had come to the conclusion that the document presented to the American public in April 2011 is undoubtedly fraudulent.   HI officials would not confirm to investigators whether or not the BC Released by the WH was an exact copy of the one they have on file.

KTAR reported:

According to Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Posse Lead Investigator Mike Zullo, the findings were partially based on an interview with a person whose signature appears on Obama’s birth certificate. That person, Verna K. Lee, 95, said she was a local registrar at the time of Obama’s birth.

A press release from MCSO said the rest of the case was based around several factors.

The first factor is a coding discrepancy on Obama’s birth certificate when compared to other Hawaiian documents.

Information given by Lee, including the in-question vital codes and their meanings, contrasted the president’s claims.

Investigators were not permitted to compare the White House’s version of Obama’s birth certificate to that held by Hawaii. Officials refused to allow MCSO investigators to make the comparison and also would not confirm if a PDF of the birth certificate, released by the White House, was an exact copy of the document released to Obama’s attorneys.

It should be noted that other document experts have disputed the Cold Case Posse’s March findings as reported in Snopes…

WND has much more on this story, as you can imagine: Arpaio Obama probe finds ‘national security threat’

Arpaio told WND he intends to move the investigation and the new information to a higher authority within the federal government because of what he calls an imminent threat to national security and U.S. immigration laws. The threat is posed by a flaw in Hawaii’s law discovered by his investigators that allows a foreigner to obtain a Hawaii birth certificate.

“Although I am having a difficult time deciding who to forward this information to given the fact that the obvious choices report directly to the president, I cannot stand by and hold on to information that threatens to weaken national security,” Arpaio said.

Arpaio said he intends on keeping a case file open if more information surfaces or if federal authorities decide to ignore the case.

Zullo explained that along with new information discovered regarding the birth certificate since the posse’s March 1 press conference, his team has discovered Hawaii provides easy access to a birth certificate, even if the child wasn’t born in the state.

Under Hawaii Revised Statute 338-17.8, a person only has to be an established resident of Hawaii, not necessarily a U.S. citizen, and pay taxes there for one year to be able to register an out-of-state or foreign-born person with an official Hawaii birth certificate.

Mara Zebest, The American Thinker: New Obama Birth Certificate Forgery Proof in the Layers:

My newly released report examines the metadata and object code of Obama’s long-form birth certificate PDF file and explains how this information corroborates the claim that Obama’s PDF file never originated as a paper document, but rather was born in cyberspace or was — to put it another way — digitallymanufactured.  The only time Obama’s long-form birth certificate image exists as a paper document is when a computer user selects Print from the Filemenu.  Obama’s PDF file, like everything else from this administration, is a composite, a lie, an illusion — even down to the deceptive colors presented in the file.

The layers have been the most damning and problematic evidence of file-manipulation, and the defenders of Obama are quick to respond with a plethora of explanations to justify the presence of layers.  The excuses range from OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to the more predominant excuse of optimization — both of which have been debunked in my previous report for the Cold Case Posse press conference.

Many Obama defenders have conceded that OCR is not a factor and admit that OCR was never applied to the PDF file.  However, arguments for optimization still persist.  Optimization refers to a file-saving process in which the goal is to reduce the file size while maintaining (or optimizing) the quality of the image (as best as possible depending on the settings applied).

Those who insist on the optimization argument either do not understand what attributes need to be present for this argument to hold water — or they are hoping the general public does not understand.  It’s probably a little of both.  The defenders certainly count on the ignorance of the average citizen when it comes to understanding the differences in layers produced from an automated process (such as optimization) compared to a manual choice to manipulate the file.  One goal of the report is to offer a deeper understanding for recognizing the two patterns of layering (and to avoid being deceived or bamboozled).  The report adds additional proof along the way that the optimization excuse fails miserably and can be completely ruled out as a justification for layers.

Obama Did This On His Own!: Behold the results of Obamanomics

Michelle Malkin: The latest on Obama’s rogue Interior Department: Stone walls and revolving doors:

Last week, I reported on the ongoing shenanigans of President Obama’s rogue Interior Department.

House GOP watchdogs continue to chip away at the stonewall surrounding the reckless, politicized White House drilling ban.

House GOP Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings announced plans yesterday to summon more Obama officials to testify after they refused to agree to transcribed interviews:

After Interior Dept. Fails to Agree to Transcribed Interviews, Hastings States Intent to Call Officials to Testify at Drilling Moratorium Hearing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (WA-04) on Friday, July 13 sent a letter to Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar regarding the Committee’s request for transcribed interviews with five Department officials who were personally involved in developing the May 2010 Interior Department report that falsely stated independent engineers had peer reviewed and supported a drilling moratorium.

Seton Motley, Newsbusters: Media Fail: Chevy Volt Makes NO Money, Costs Taxpayers Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Per Car

The President is running in large part on the bailout’s $30+ billion loss, uber-failed “success.”  And the Press is acting as his stenographers.  An epitome of this bailout nightmare mess is the electric absurdity that is the Chevrolet Volt.  The Press is at every turn covering up – rather than covering – the serial failures of President Obama’s signature vehicle.

The Press has failed to mention at least five Volt fires, myopically focusing on the one the Obama Administration hand-selected for attention.

The Press has failed to mention that the Volt fire problem remains unsolved.  Is it the battery?  Is it the charging station?  Is it the charging cable?  All of the above?

GM and the Administration don’t know.  And the Press ain’t breaking their necks trying to find out.

In more recent news, the Press has almost as one hailed the June Volt sales increase.

GM’s Volt Sales Up in June

Surprising June Sales for Volt

Chevy Volt Leads US Plug-In Car Sales

Chevy Volt Sales Increases

Volt Records Second-Best Sales Month

The Press has for the most part failed to mention how pathetic this “second-best sales month” actually is.  And even when one Dinosaur does, the unwarranted enthusiasm is palpable.

GM sells 1760 Volts in June, double from 2011

Wow.  Huge number.

The Press also fails to put this pathetic tally in perspective.

The Chevy Cruze is basically a Volt without the dead-weight, flammable 400-lb. electric battery.  Which makes it $17,000, rather than the Volt’s $41,000.

Yes, but did the Chevy Cruze have its own performance squad to help promote it? Meet the Chevy Volt Dancers (watch the video and read the reviews in the YouTube comments):

On July 13 FBI agents Conrad Rodriguez and William Sivley paid a visit to my son-in-law, Andy Moore, at his home.Andy is a pro-life activist who prays and protests outside the Southwest Women’s Surgery Center abortion mill in Dallas, where late-term abortionist Curtis Boyd freely acknowledges he “kill[s]” children.

Agents Rodriguez and Sivley told Andy three red flags prompted their visit:

  1. His use of a megaphone outside the mill, a one-time event on March 31, which he stopped and never repeated after police told him he was violating a noise ordinance.
  2. A complaint by the clinic manager that Andy trespassed, which he did not. There was no evidence, yet police gave Andy a warning: “I asked the officer multiple times, ‘Why are you giving me this warning, as I did not trespass?’ All he would tell me was, ‘I’m giving you this warning.’ He did not answer my question.”
  3. Unsubstantiated complaints that Andy may be too aggressive. “One of the agents told me it is acceptable to be aggressive, however there is a line. He gave examples of things which would cross the line, such as making threats of violence, or obstructing vehicle access – violations of the FACE act. I told him in no uncertain terms that I had never done anything like this and had not considered anything like this either.”

But not at Politico. Politico earns high praise for its studious neutrality, with hard-hitting coverage of both candidates.

Stunned at the sheer ineptness and lack of due diligence in the Libor-rigging details that are being uncovered specific to Geithner’s Treasury and Bernanke’s Fed, CNBC’s Rick Santelli reflects on just how unbelievable TARP was in this context. “Hurry up, let’s spend three quarters of a trillion dollars; how much due diligence did they do for our role as taxpayers in basically bailing out the banking system? Obviously zero!” and this as they knew these very-same banks were manipulating rates. Opining on the un-Americanism of jet-skis and outsourcing, Rick states unequivocally “what’s un-American is we now have the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Treasury taking heightened importance in regulating us in the future through Dodd/Frank. Shame on their legislation!”

When Brock isn’t meeting cloaked men at park benches and cooing into the dark to give the “all clear”, he’s running yet another Soros-funded group known as American Bridge. American Bridge is a Super PAC (which in this instance must not be the worst type of organization in history as the left usually labels SuperPACs) and currently employs roughly 17 campaign trackers as of May 2012 and were expected to hire at least 5 more in June.

There’s been a lot of hubbub in the news lately about trackers. The DCCC actually appears to be working to cover up the embarrassing way in which some trackers are doing their jobs from stalking candidate homes to catching Romney in his Mucaca moment when he uttered the offensive word “y’all“.

Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with campaign trackers. Sending people out to campaigns armed with cameras to catch candidates slipping up is a practice which I wholeheartedly support as YouTube is quickly becoming the single greatest source for opposition research. But it is a bit amusing that Brock would so readily employ people to stalk candidates considering the shadows he undoubtedly runs screaming from on a daily basis.

So how creepy are the tactics being employed by some trackers that American Bridge readily acknowledges they are following?

Brian Darling, Townhall: Obama’s Outsourcing of Jobs, Foreign Policy and Debt:

The left continues to pile on Mitt Romney for allegedly outsourcing jobs while at Bain Capital.

Yet the mainstream media seem curiously uninterested in reporting on “outsourcing” by the Obama Administration, which has (1) outsourced stimulus monies to create jobs in foreign nations, (2) outsourced U.S. foreign policy to U.N. and (3) outsourced our kids and grandkids financial future to pay for his unprecedented spending binge.

The Obama Stimulus has turned out to be an exercise in Venture Socialism . Unlike Venture Capitalism, in which investors risk their own capital to help companies launch and grown, Venture Socialism is when the federal government loans other people’s money (the taxpayers’) to companies. If the company pans out, the government gets the money back. If it goes belly up, the taxpayers—who had no say in the transaction—lose.

Specter, formerly a Republican, had switched parties in April 2009, giving Democrats a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate that enabled them to pass any law they wanted. Until the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy that August, and the surprise victory of Republican Scott Brown in the special election that followed in Massachusetts in January 2010, the Obama administration hoped to use that majority to rush through health care reform.

There was one small catch: Specter evidently expected to be repaid for his defection, and the Obama administration was eager to oblige by ensuring that he ran unopposed. So they attempted to dissuade Sestak from running–and Sestak made the offer public, in an effort to cast himself as a Washington outsider versus the octagenarian Specter, the consummate Beltway insider. He told the story several times on the campaign trail.

As Karl Rove pointed out at the time, either Sestak was lying, or the White House had committed a felony–namely, offering a government job in exchange for something of value. The independent-minded Jake Tapper of ABC News prodded President Obama’s then-press secretary, Robert Gibbs, for answers–and Gibbs had none. Future House oversight chair Darrell Issa (R-CA) said the scandal could be Obama’s Watergate.

Didn’t matter…The media soon lost interest, the Republicans dropped it….and Obama went merrily on his America hating, economy crushing way to perpetrate may more offenses against the constitution that would also be under-reported and soon forgotten.

Gateway Pundit: Oh Brother… Democrats Rename “Bank of America Stadium” for DNC Convention:

How pathetic is this?

The Obama 2012 Campaign sent out this email recently inviting Democrats to the DNC Convention in Charlotte at “Panthers Stadium.”

This email may have surprised their host city since there is no Panthers Stadium. There never was a Panthers Stadium. The DNC Convention will be held at Bank of America stadium… But Democrats currently have a war against the rich, business owners, doctors, white men, stay at home moms, bankers so they switched the stadium name to Panthers.
It’s one of the drawbacks to running a campaign based on the politics of division.

This isn’t the usual-usual we see in politics where bigtime contributors become ambassadors to Algeriastan, or some such place. This is TAXPAYER dollars.Hoping to push the story along, the Romney folks held a conference call this morning with Senior Romney campaign advisor Ed Gillespie and Andrea Saul, the campaign’s national press secretary. Once again, the campaign made a compelling case (I was on the call) connecting Obama contributors to a windfall of tax dollars. Questions from media types were taken and then — obviously channeling the Obama campaign — NBC’s Peter Alexander asked the following:

I know it’s innate in this conversation — the sense that a lot of the people that gave the Obama campaign money at over the course of the years have benefited by position, political appointees, as you say, and other monies. Will the Romney campaign in the days and weeks ahead release the name of its bundlers so Americans can get a sense of who those people are behind Governor Romney who have largely given him money and who could be influencers going forward.

What Alexander is doing here, and I knew this the moment he asked the question, was changing the subject entirely as a way to blunt and dismiss the evidence the Romney people had gathered about Obama cronies and contributors being paid off with our money.

Though the evidence against Obama would be compelling to any serious reporter interested in holding power accountable, in order to protect Obama from this criticism, Alexander turned the story into one about Romney disclosing who his bundlers are. Romney isn’t required to disclose his bundlers, and the media makes an issue out of it because it fits Obama’s narrative about Romney and money.

Read the whole thing. The palace guards are working overtime for Emperor Obama.

Check back, I’ll be adding more, later…
DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign team have been waging a coordinated effort against Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney by repeatedly casting aspersion on the length of his tenure at Bain Capital as well as the limited disclosure of his past personal income tax returns.Wasserman Schultz has been relentless in her mocking of Romney’s offshore holdings and tax records even after it was disclosed that she had her own offshore investments including a Swiss Bank Account and holdings in foreign drug companies and the State Bank of India. In a desperate attempt to distract from the president’s record of failure, Wasserman Schultz has tried to paint Romney as a “one percenter” who outsources American jobs overseas and is disconnected from the American people. Wasserman Schultz has even boldly claimed that “I’m a Middle Class American.”But now the Shark Tank has come into possession of information that has never been publicly disclosed which completely undermines Wasserman Schultz’ credibility as it pertains to her calls for transparency or the claim that she qualifies as “middle class.”Speaking of “offshore” interests, on 6/9/12 Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz took a one-week cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean ‘Oasis of the Seas’ luxury liner to the Western Caribbean, embarking from Port Everglades, Florida.

Back on the mainland, Newbury, New Hampshire is a quaint little town that’s located in Merrimack County. According to public records, we’ve learned that Wasserman Schultz owns a second home here along with another land parcel. Based on our own public records search, these assets have never been previously disclosed by Wasserman Schultz.

As per congressional disclosure rules, Wasserman Schultz is not required to report either her personal residence or additional properties that do not generate rental income. If Wasserman Schultz were to release her personal income tax returns as requested by her Republican congressional opponent Karen Harrington, these assets would then be disclosed.(Source)

Debbie may not be not running for President, but she is running for federal office. We believe that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander- if you are repeatedly calling for your political opponents to fully disclose their tax returns, Debbie should be prepared to do the same.

To this point, Debbie continues to dodge our request for her tax returns. The question now arises- just what is the Congresswoman hiding?-Karen Harrington

Why was this not-so incidental piece of information never discovered? Wasserman Schultz signs her name on legislative documents using “Debbie Wasserman Schultz,” but when she signs public records that require her legal signature, Wasserman Schultz signs her name “Deborah Schultz.”

IBD: Obama’s Socialist Mantra: Risk Takers Are Free Riders:

In Obama’s collectivist world view, we are all ants on a socialist ant farm. We are sheep being led by a government shepherd. Wealth, as we now know, is not to be created but to be redistributed in the manner of the Marxist slogan — to each according to his need and from each according to his ability.

Your success, Obama says, is not your own. There “was a great teacher somewhere in your life,” he tells us, and that somebody “invested in roads and bridges.”

Is it a coincidence that virtually the only people President Obama gives credit to for anything are teacher and construction unions?

And, with apologies to Al Gore, we are told: “Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”

So Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, the founders of Google, Facebook and Twitter, are all parasitic pretenders.

Without government, there would have been no Mac computer or iPad? Michelangelo didn’t paint the Sistine Chapel, you know. Credit must be given to the folks who built the scaffolding and the inventor of paint.

Of course, this is the president who, in a speech delivered at a high school in Osawatomie, Kan., last December, argued while a limited government that preserves free markets “speaks to our rugged individualism,” such a system “doesn’t work” and “has never worked” and that Americans must look to a more activist government that taxes more, spends more and regulates more.

Each time an Obama apologist tells you that Bain Capital is the root of all evil in the economy, remind them that President Obama has accepted $34,250 from employees of Bain Capital so far this cycle.

Most of the donors are senior executives who were with Bain when it made all of those allegedly controversial decisions from 1999 to 2002 that the Obama campaign is so focused upon.

Teh horror.

Judicial Watch: Border Patrol Agents Ordered To Run, Hide From Shooters:

Mexican drug-cartel violence is at an all-time high along the southern border yet the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has ordered federal agents on the front line to “run away” and “hide” when encountering a shooter.

This may seem like a really bad joke, but it’s reality in the Obama DHS, which as we all know is headed by an official (Janet Napolitano) who is in deep denial about the severity of the crisis along the border. It wasn’t that long ago that Napolitano, who as Arizona governor advocated for illegal immigrants, declared the Mexican border “is as secure as it has ever been” and that violence in the area is merely a mistaken “perception.”

Those famous words, ridiculed in the press worldwide, came days after U.S. Border Patrol agents engaged in a violent gunshot battle with Mexican drug smugglers along the Rio Grande in Texas. The federal officers came under siege during a bust that netted half a ton of U.S.-bound marijuana. Yet the nation’s Homeland Security Secretary stood stoically at an El Paso port of entry called the Bridge of the Americas assuring that the area is safe and that “misinformation about safety” is negatively impacting border communities by driving visitors away and hurting local businesses.

DHS agents on the frontline, from the U.S. Border Patrol, know better. That’s why they are outraged that their delusional big boss has ordered them to flee when confronted with an armed person in public. The preposterous directive, intended to be kept quiet, was made public by the nation’s largest Border Patrol Union, which is located in Tucson Arizona. A nonprofit dedicated to studying the impact of immigration in the U.S. subsequently wrote about it in its blog.

The Border Patrol union reveals on its website that agents are forced to take lengthy computer courses known as “Virtual Learning Center” where they are taught in an “Active Shooter” course that if they encounter a shooter in a public place they are to “run away” and “hide.” Only if cornered by a shooter, as a last resort, should agents become “aggressive” and “throw things” at the attacker. They are also advised to “call law enforcement” and wait for their arrival.

BORTAC Incident Report Indicates Brian Terry’s Killers Were Let Go

There were five Mexican bandits in Peck Canyon, Ariz. the night Terry was killed. Of those five suspects, four are on the run, and one, who was shot on the night Terry was killed, remains in custody.

The United States Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) shooting incident report 11 TCANGL 121570000077,  among the documents the DOJ unsealed a week ago, indicates authorities had four suspects in custody at the time of Terry’s murder and let three of them them go.

New NRCC Ad “He Doesn’t Get It” Slams Obama For Belittling Business Owners

It didn’t take Republicans long to pounce on Obama’s woefully wrong-headed remarks about American business owners: “If you’ve got a business—you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

“American entrepreneurs are the engine of job growth for our country — they work hard, make sacrifices, and deserve their success,” they shoot back.

An effective ad, imo:

Fox News: Business Groups Criticize Obama Over Remarks About Government’s Role In Success:

David Chavern, chief operating officer of the Chamber of Commerce, accused Obama of slighting the remarkable achievements of extraordinary individuals.

“We should applaud the risk-takers and the dreamers who are willing to stand out from the crowd,” Chavern said in a Chamber blog. “Rather than denigrate what these people have done, we need to encourage more people to be like them.”

The National Federation of Independent Business said the president’s “unfortunate remarks over the weekend show an utter lack of understanding and appreciation for the people who take a huge personal risk and work endless hours to start a business and create jobs.”

“I’m sure every small-business owner who took a second mortgage on their home, maxed out their credit cards or borrowed money from their own retirement savings to start their business disagrees strongly with President Obama’s claim. They know that hard work does matter,” the group also said.

Obama pushed his policy goals of infrastructure (aka stimulus) spending and “government research” as part of a collectivist utopia “doing things together.” It’s simply stunning that he would tell Americans, “If you’ve got a business—you didn’t build that.”

After all, could individuals be resourceful and hard-working enough to create whole new enterprises? Obama said:

Look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart.

It is this view of successful businesses—essentially, “You owe us”—that drives Obama’s continued attacks on the country’s job creators in the form of tax hikes and regulations.

It’s a tough time to be a business owner and entrepreneur in America. Surveys show small business owners are struggling, and they are not expanding or hiring because of tax and regulatory uncertainty. Federal agencies, from Health and Human Services to the Environmental Protection Agency, are regulating them to death. And just last week, President Obama announced his latest economic plan was to hit job creators with a tax increase.

Nealz Newz: Obama Revealed:

So … small businessman!  How does that sit with you?  You took your money and put it at risk.  You worked perhaps as many as 80 hours a week to get things running.  You had your ups and downs, but you persevered.  Vacations?  Are you kidding?  Maybe it was five years into your new business venture before you ever took a vacation.  Every penny you could scrounge up … every spare minute you could find … all went into your business.  While others were believing that their role was simply to do their nine-to-five bit five days a week for someone else was their life’s role, you had another game plan — and it worked.  Here you are with your successful small business.  You employ perhaps a dozen people or so.  You take vacations now.  You might even have a vacation time-share on the coast.   You just bought a new car for the first time in your life.  You’re thinking that you’ve done pretty good chasing that American dream, and you’re justifiably proud of yourself.  Then along comes Barack Obama to tell you that this business you sweated over for so many years?  Well … you didn’t build that.

Does that work for you?

I’ve told you for a while now, and Barack Obama told us himself just a few months ago: That Obama believes America’s greatness comes from government.  This “unbelievable American system” that Obama mentions used to be a system based on individual responsibility,  freedom, economic liberty, the free market, the rule of law … Obama has done his fair share of dismantling that system.  That’s what he meant by “fundamental transformation.”

But let’s get into Obama’s “somebody else made that happen” proposition.  Here, of course, Obama was trying to portray the government as the enabler of every entrepreneur who ever started a business enterprise.

lauraw, AOSHQ: Liberalism Is A Cargo Cult:

Obama’s little speech the other day where he essentially discounts the risk of the entrepreneur, is just another way for liberals to prop up the lie at the core of leftism; that the state is a provider.

It’s a colossal and laughably transparent lie. The state provides nothing, because it possesses nothing on its own. The state is the perpetually dependent child of the taxpayer, and not the other way around.

We are told by these geniuses that we are supposed to be building busways and roads and bridges and HIGH! SPEED! RAIL! and that will get us out of the mess we are in.

But all of the roads the government builds- with our money– will not magically create successful commerce all around themselves.
Merely building infrastructure and calling it ‘stimulus’ is a childish mimicry of the trappings of a healthy economy. It is foolish to expect the commerce that actually provides these good things to ‘just happen,’ and downright dangerous to try to force this pipedream by spending out our sustenance before we’ve earned it.

Liberalism/socialism/leftism is a cargo cult, magical thinking, donut seeds.

We have to remove the levers of power from the hands of these mad children. We just have to.
