Boom! New Salt Lake Tribune Poll Has Love Trouncing Matheson 52 percent to 40 percent!

Polls have been showing the race as too close to call, but tonight, a new poll, just released moments ago by the Salt Lake Tribune has Republican candidate for US Congress, Mia Love leading Democrat Jim Matheson in Utah by 12 points

For 12 years, Jim Matheson has been a political escape artist, managing to wiggle free from every trap the Utah Republicans have thrown his way.

But after six successful elections, his charmed political run may be coming to an end.

Matheson trails Republican challenger Mia Love 52 percent to 40 percent in a new poll conducted for The Salt Lake Tribune, a large margin in a race where, even a few days ago, both campaigns were predicting a tight finish.

Game over, man.

Republican Nominee for Governor of Missouri, Dave Spence: “My Office Will Not Be For Sale” (Video)

Missouri Republicans, Dave Spence, Shane Schoeller, Ed Martin, and Cole McNaryrespectively, the party’s candidates for governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and state treasure  made a stop, Thursday evening  in Lee’s Summit, Mo, during their statewide tour thatbegan in  Jefferson City, with afternoon stops in Springfield and Joplin.

Ed Martin, acting as the master of ceremonies, introduced Dave Spence to the crowd that had gathered at Republican Headquarters in Lee’s Summit to hear the candidates speak.

“My office will not be for sale,” Spence proclaimed, “we need someone who will finally represent 114 counties and 5.9 million people to do what’s right for everyone verses just special interests.”

The mudslinging coming from the Nixon campaign has been so  ugly, Spence has sued the the governor for defamation.

Statement of Dave Spence on Defamation Lawsuit Against Jay Nixon for His False Attack Ads:

October 12, 2012

SAINT LOUIS, MO – Dave Spence, Republican candidate for governor, today issued the following statement regarding a lawsuit he filed against Jay Nixon for Nixon’s false and defamatory campaign attack ads.  Spence said the following:

“I filed this lawsuit for one simple reason, we need good people in politics.  If the standard for truthfulness in political campaigns is there is no standard, our state and country will continue to erode because good people won’t run for office.  Jay Nixon’s attack ads are false and defamatory and he knows it.  If he had a record of accomplishment to run on he wouldn’t need to lie about me, but he doesn’t.  Missourians deserve a governor who won’t lie about his own record and about his opponent.  Jay Nixon should be fired.”

Video: Republican Candidate for Mo. State Treasure, Cole McNary: “I Will Fight for Fiscal Truth”

Republican Nominee for State Treasurer Cole McNary-R-Chesterfield, teamed with Ed Martin, Shane Schoeller, and Dave Spence, the Republican candidates for attorney general and secretary of state, and Governor, for a statewide tour with a stop  that included  the Republican headquarters in Lee’s Summit, Mo, Thursday night, 11/01/12.

McNary spoke about the need to return to transparency and full disclosure to the office.

Was Obama Briefed On 9-11 Libyan Terror Threats the Day Before Benghazi Attack? (Video)

A classified cable obtained and reviewed by Fox News shows that the U.S. Mission in Benghazi convened an “emergency meeting” regarding Al Qaeda training camps in Benghazi with the concern that the consulate could not defend against a “coordinated attack”,  less than a month before the terrorist assault that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Summarizing an Aug. 15 emergency meeting convened by the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Aug. 16 cable marked “SECRET” said that the State Department’s senior security officer, also known as the RSO, did not believe the consulate could be protected.

“RSO (Regional Security Officer) expressed concerns with the ability to defend Post in the event of a coordinated attack due to limited manpower, security measures, weapons capabilities, host nation support, and the overall size of the compound,” the cable said.

According to a review of the cable addressed to the Office of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Emergency Action Committee was also briefed “on the location of approximately ten Islamist militias and AQ training camps within Benghazi … these groups ran the spectrum from Islamist militias, such as the QRF Brigade and Ansar al-Sharia, to ‘Takfirist thugs.’” Each U.S. mission has a so-called Emergency Action Committee that is responsible for security measures and emergency planning.

The details in the cable seemed to foreshadow the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. compound, which was a coordinated, commando-style assault using direct and indirect fire. Al Qaeda in North Africa and Ansar al-Sharia, both mentioned in the cable, have since been implicated in the consulate attack.

In addition to describing the security situation in Benghazi as “trending negatively,” the cable said explicitly that the mission would ask for more help. “In light of the uncertain security environment, US Mission Benghazi will submit specific requests to US Embassy Tripoli for additional physical security upgrades and staffing needs by separate cover.”

The State Department has declined to comment on the cable “citing its classification”. Uh huh. And it’s “political sensitivity” to unnamed an person who may or may not be up for reelection, I would add.
Fox News is now reporting that the President attended a briefing the day before the attack to “evaluate 9/11 threats”.
Catherine Herridge reported her findings on America Live with Megyn Kelly, earlier today.

The question Kelly asked her guests, former Bush speechwriter, Marc Thiessen of AEI, and Simon Rosenberg (Discover the Networks profile, here); “did the Benghazi warnings come up in that briefing and if not, why not?”

Via Ace of Spades HQ: White House: Obama “Has Not Participated” In Benghazi Investigation

But he’s determined to get all the facts out, he says.

He has not participated in the investigation. He is anticipating results that show us exactly what happened and who is responsible and what lessons we can learn from it and ensure it never happens again. He expects the investigation to be rigorous.

He needs an investigation to discover what orders he gave on the night of the attack?

He needs an investigation to know if he was briefed about Libya the day before the attack?

What he needs is time to run out the clock until the election.

Report: Naughty Bob Menendez Stiffed Hookers after Easter Tricks in Dominican Republic

The sex scandal teased by Drudge turns out to be about Democrat Senator Bob Menendez’s penchant for patronizing hookers in the Dominican Republic and paying them substantially less than the agreed price.

Matthew Boyle of The Daily Caller  has obtained records that provide strong circumstantial evidence that Menendez traveled to the Dominican Republic from his  home in New Jersey on Easter Sunday of this year.

One woman said Menendez wooed her with compliments like “beautiful” before they slept together. The other woman recounted, with apparent bitterness, receiving from an intermediary only $100 of the $500 she had been promised.

“He lies,” she said of Menendez. “He says one thing and does another.”

According to the translator’s summary, Menendez “was nice at first, but then later he did not seem to care about her.”

Menendez, who is 58 and divorced, has represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate as a Democrat since being appointed to fill a vacancy in 2005. He is up for re-election on Nov. 6.

Asked about the allegations, Menendez spokeswoman Tricia Enright refused to answer any questions on the subject. “We’re not going to respond to a completely false accusation,” she wrote by email.

As RS McCain notes,  Menendez’s Republican challenger is Joe Kyrillos, and he may now be a serious contender  as a result of this (possible*) scandal.
I say *possible* scandal because with just a few days until the election, the Democrats are going to be in full scale circle the wagons mode – proclaiming his innocence, attacking the accusers, etc. They can easily run out the clock using their usual lying and obfuscating (or ignoring) methods.
And if that doesn’t work, they’ll just brazenly stand by him as they’ve stood by so many other bad actors in the party who have been caught in even worse scandals.
Here’s a video (H/T Charles B.) of Menendez speaking at a women’s forum, last summer, because – you know – he has so much respect for women…
