Drudge Graphic Evokes Shock and Horror on the Left

Drudge’s depressingly apt header photo  caused much wailing and gnashing of teeth from leftists on Twitter, today.

Guns may be flying off the shelves in gun stores across America, but in DC, liberal journalists are reaching for the smelling salts.

“Hitler and Stalin!” exclaimed BuzzFeed Editor Ben Smith on Twitter alerting most of his followers by linking directly to the Drudge Report.

“Drudge rules our world,” responded Slate journalist David Weigel to Smith’s post on Twitter, later adding sarcastically, “SOMETHING SHOCKING HAS BEEN POSTED ON THE INTERNET.”

“Our right is nuttier than your right (US to 193 countries),” wrote the Al-Monitor’s Laura Rozen.

The Washington Post’s Greg Sargent begged his followers not to talk about or visit the Drudge Report.

“Dear everyone: Talking about how Drudge’s visuals are ruse to get attention = giving Drudge attention,” he wrote.

“Also, don’t link to Drudge – link to twitpic,” the Washington Post’s James Downie added.

And so on. Where were these morons during the Bush Derangement Syndrome years of 2000-2008? Egging it on, most likely?

Let’s pretend we don’t know Obama was mentored by a card carrying Communist, looked forward to a violent Communist revolution in America while he was a student at Occidental College, went to Socialist conferences while studying at Columbia, joined the Socialist New Party in Chicago, and was close friends with former domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers, who once advocated for the elimination of 25 million “diehard capitalists”. (Those would be the “refuseniks” who balked at being sent to re-education camps after the revolution.) No reason for concern, there. We’re just a bunch of paranoid, crazy, kook, gun and bible clingers here on the right to even bring that up.

So is this any cause for alarm?

“The president is going to act,” said Biden, giving some comments to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence. “There are executives orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”

Biden said that this is a moral issue and that “it’s critically important that we act.”

Biden talked also about taking responsible action. “As the president said, if you’re actions result in only saving one life, they’re worth taking. But I’m convinced we can affect the well-being of millions of americans and take thousands of people out of harm’s way if we act responsibly.”

The sort of actions Sheriff Joe is talking about wouldn’t result in saving any lives, but from what I’ve been reading on conservative blogs and forums, would result in massive civil disobedience and quite possibly the spilling of a lot of blood. Why is the Regime  stocking up on guns and bullets, former Navy Seal Matt Bracken recently asked:

Tens of thousands of new “assault weapons,” enough to shoot all of the billions (with a “b”) of .223 and .40 caliber hollow-point bullets recently purchased by our federal law enforcement agencies in unprecedented new acquisitions. Are we suddenly expecting a foreign invasion I missed reading about? Wouldn’t that be the job of the military? Why do our federal law enforcement agencies suddenly need tens of thousands of “assault weapons” and billions of new hollow-point (not training) bullets, many times more than in previous years?

Who knows. It’s none of our business, I’m sure.

Although they reportedly haven’t decided what actions will be taken, the measures promise to be draconian, turning formerly law abiding citizens into criminals, overnight:

Among the most brazen assaults being considered by the administration is a proposal that would criminalize all private sales of guns that did not keep the federal government in the loop. The scheme, which would purport to require a full federal background check for every gun sale in America, aims to track all firearms in the country through a federal database. It would also represent an attack on gun shows. According to newsreports, the administration seems to believe that the unconstitutional scheme can be implemented by “executive order.”

Gun rights activists have already shot down similar schemes, saying a national registry would simply serve as a prelude to outright confiscation later — as has happened on countless occasions throughout history, often just before governments engaged in mass murder of dissidents and target groups. However, despite massive opposition and public vows of civil disobedience, Obama and some Democrat lawmakers are determined to build an expensive federal register of all guns in America, complete with fingerprints. How such measures would reduce crime or violence remains unclear, but critics of the proposal say that was never the point anyway.

Incredibly, despite the fact that virtually every mass shooting in America has occurred in so-called “gun free zones” mandated by federal statutes, Obama is reportedly planning to double down on that scheme as well. According to news reports citing administration officials, the president will be seeking to, among other ideas, increase penalties for violators — perhaps teachers or school administrators who leave a firearm in their car, for example.

Even as Obama’s own children attend a school with numerous armed guards and Secret Service agents, kids without taxpayer-funded protection are expected to remain sitting ducks in “gun free” zones that critics have called “magnets” for mass shooters. Aside from being unconstitutional, how stricter penalties for gun possession would deter somebody intent on murder and probably suicide remains unclear. Gun rights advocates, meanwhile, have called for repealing the half-baked statute purporting to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms in certain areas, saying it only affects law-abiding citizens anyway.

Obama hopes to implement much of the anti-gun rights agenda by executive fiat. However, he also has a plan that he thinks will help ram other unpopular and unconstitutional gun control measures through Congress, according to a Washington Post article published over the weekend outlining parts of the attack. Like he did with ObamaCare, which is still opposed by most Americans, the president is plotting to create a “coalition” to get behind his schemes. This time, he hopes it will consist of big companies such as Wal-Mart, which would benefit financially, as well as some religious leaders and even law-enforcement personnel who can be prodded into jumping on board. The plan would also try to fracture the opposition.

Obama and his henchmen know exactly what they’re doing.

And so does Drudge. Good on him.

Gateway Pundit: Wal-Mart Blows Off White House Gun Control Talks

You go, Wally World.

Figures – they’ve got that crony socialism thing going on: Walmart buckles, will attend WH gun control meeting, implement gun control ‘code’

Indeed. Some mom-and-pop gun shops will likely not be able to afford to comply with the regulations spelled out in the agreement.

It was nice knowing you, Wally.

Molon Labe teeshirts are on sale at iOWNTHEWORLD.

Video: Lindsey Graham Vows to Hold Up Obama Nominees Until Key Benghazi Question Answered

“I’m not going to confirm John Brennan or anyone else until the administration shares information with the Congress about who deleted references to al Qaeda three weeks before the election. I think it was purposefully done and I want to know who did it and why before we move forward,” Graham told Brett Baier on Tuesday’s Special Report.

“And what did the President do during the seven hours?” Graham continued as he made the following point showing not a hint of sarcasm in his expression: “They’re making two movies about his strong leadership during the bin Laden raid – this administration leaked every detail about the bin Laden raid so the whole world would know how strong they are on national security, but when you have a major debacle like Benghazi, you can’t get the basic information four months later.”

Damn straight. And of course the truth is – Obama didn’t show strong leadership  on the Bin Laden raid, at all. According to investigative journalist Richard Miniter, it was Obama’s Greatest Foreign Policy Failure.

Never mind the fact that he raced before the cameras to take credit for bin Laden’s death only hours after he was buried at sea, putting publicity above victory and security.  As Miniter noted, “Obama forgot the two trash bags of papers, hard drives and thumb drives that the SEALs had dragged from bin Laden’s lair. Those documents and devices contained a treasure trove of intelligence: the whereabouts of al Qaeda’s senior commanders, the secret sources of funds, its hideouts, its sleeper cells, its pending plots.”

With a few weeks to translate and analyze those captured documents, the CIA and other services could have been providing actionable intelligence to guide commandos to the secret locations of al Qaeda leaders all over the world. With the element of surprise and clearly defined targets, nearly every al Qaeda leader could have been killed or captured.

The entire al Qaeda apparatus could have been wiped out. The terror organization could have been eliminated.

Never mind that he chose to have bin Laden executed rather than captured even though it would have been an tremendous military asset to have had the leader of al Qaeda captured and answering questions.

No, the best part is, regardless of what Dear Leader and his media toadies say – his so called “gutsy call” wasn’t so gutsy after all.

The Obama campaign has insisted on describing the bin Laden mission as a “gutsy call,” an example of the president’s leadership abilities. So far, the press has failed to probe the planning stages of the operation; preferring to stick with the White House’s official narrative that begins about 24 hours before the raid.

But career military and intelligence officials tell a different story.

In my new book, Leading From Behind, I document three times in 2011 in which the planning for the bin Laden raid was stopped or stalled.

The Daily Caller and others in the conservative media reported the story in July of 2012: Book bombshell: Obama canceled Bin Laden ‘kill’ raid three times at Jarrett’s urging.

Of course the MSM had no interest in this story.

Jack Cashill suggests that Republicans in the Senate ask Brennan about the 2008 passport breach in which his company played a role: Brennan must answer for passport breach

The Washington Post headlined the story on March 22, 2008, “Rice Apologizes For Breach of Passport Data; Employees Looked at Files On Obama, Clinton, McCain.”

The “Rice” in question was Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The offended party in the Post story was Barack Obama. He told reporters that he expected “a full and thorough investigation,” one that “should be done in conjunction with those congressional committees that have oversight function so it’s not simply an internal matter.”

It was not until the 13th paragraph of the Post story that the reader learned that of one of the three contract employees caught in the act worked for the Analysis Corporation, the CEO of which was Brennan.

The Post did report that Brennan donated $2,300 to the Obama campaign but suggested no deeper tie. This information was offset by the revelation that the other two culpable contract employees worked for Stanley Inc., whose CEO, Philip Nolan, contributed $1,000 to the Clinton campaign.

Stanley, however, had been handling passport work for 15 years and had just been awarded a five-year, $570 million contract. The company had no reason to play favorites in the 2008 campaign. It promptly fired the two employees, neither of whom was likely working at the directive of Nolan or of the Clinton campaign.

Unlike Stanley Inc., a huge government contractor listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Analysis Corp. had fewer than 100 employees, and its one culpable employee apparently escaped discipline. The Post article told us only that “his or her employment status is under review.”

Nor was Brennan a casual donor to the Obama campaign. To its credit, CNN Politics saw the real news angle in the passport scandal: “Chief of firm involved in breach is Obama adviser.” Having made this point, CNN and the rest of the media fell silent.

Keep reading, but don’t hold your breath. Nobody wants to go there.

Krauthammer: Hagel Chosen to Dismantle the Military (Video)

“In a second term, Obama is going to show us who he really is”, Krauthammer began ominously. “Remember when he said to  the Soviet president, after the election, I’ll be more flexible?”

Yes, we do, in fact.

Number one on his agenda is cutting defense, said Krauthammer. Panetta gave very strong indications that if the cuts that are now on the table went into effect, he would resign because he believes they would destroy the military.  Hagel on the other hand, is on record saying that the defense department is “bloated”. Not known for being particularly bright, or original, he’ll be Obama’s “yes man” or a “toady” as O’Reilly put it.

Obama, Krauthammer maintained, wants to “cut the US military down to size.”

Barry Rubin, PJ Media: After the Fall: What Do You Do When You Conclude America Is (Temporarily or Permanently) Kaput?

If we reach the following highly unpleasant conclusion, what are the implications?

The United States has taken a political turn which, at least for the next four years, will guarantee that it does not play the role of a great power mindful of and willing to protect its own true interests, to support its allies, and to combat its real foes. On the contrary, through inaction or active effort the leadership of America will take counterproductive actions that achieve the opposite result. And there are certain factors — radical ideological hegemony, a weak economy and growing debt, structural social changes, the weakness and disorganization of the opposition — that may make this situation regarding America’s international behavior and policies a long-term, partly irreversible condition. In other words, we don’t know if America is finished as the world’s leading power, but we do know that it will not have leadership and certainly not leadership in a good direction for a while and perhaps will never fully recover.

So what do those outside the United States do to face this situation? (Please note that I am speaking here only of U.S. foreign policy and just remarking on the domestic situation.)

There are those readers who would contest the accuracy of this statement. They will say that Barack Obama is a great president, or at least a decent one, and there is no big problem regarding U.S. foreign policy at all. In fact, he and his team, which now includes Secretary of State-designate John Kerry, will be just fine, or at least okay. They will make the point — valid, but irrelevant — that the United States doesn’t control everything in the world.

Of course, but what about the things it can affect? Unfortunately, American allies and clients cannot afford the luxury of clueless optimism or wishful thinking. Some will grumble publicly and scramble to limit the damage. Others will smile, praise the president, and scramble to limit the damage.

To put it another way: it doesn’t matter whether you agree with me. I’m telling you what’s actually happening.

Barry Rubin Noxious Nominations: The Four Horsemen of the American Foreign Policy Apocalypse

I did a lot of soul-searching before writing my latest article, “After the Fall: What Do You Do When You Conclude America is (Temporarily or Permanently) Kaput?” Of course, I believed every word of it and have done so for a while. But would it depress readers too much? Would it just be too grim?

Maybe U.S. policy will just muddle through the next four years and beyond without any disasters. Perhaps the world will be spared big crises. Possibly the fact that there isn’t some single big superpower enemy seeking world domination will keep things contained.Perhaps that is true. Yet within hours after its publication I concluded that I hadn’t been too pessimistic. The cause of that reaction is the breaking story that not only will Senator John Kerry be the new secretary of state; that not only will the equally reprehensible former Senator Chuck Hagel be secretary of defense, but that John Brennan, the president’s counterterrorism advisor, will become CIA chief.

About two years ago I joked that if Kerry would become secretary of state it was time to think about heading for that fallout shelter in New Zealand. This trio in power—which along with Obama himself could be called the four horseman of the Apocalypse for U.S. foreign policy—might require an inter-stellar journey.

Read both pieces in full. There’s no reason to be optimistic that this country the entire world is doing anything but entering a dark and dreary age.

Andrew Klavan, however did his best to offer a bit of cheer:  Why So Serious? Is Conservative Despair Justified?

He lists three positive trends that have not yet been dismantled by the Regime.

 1. Fracking.
2. Federalism.
3. Reality is on our side.
And that’s it. Reality? When has that ever mattered to leftists and low info voters?

Look, I’m not exactly sanguine. Our republic has gone past the 200-year limit for republics. Islamist fundamentalists are on the march — and history shows religious fundamentalism is never a good thing for anyone. The free market is unfairly in disrepute and the family disastrously in decline. Non-fundamentalist religion is corrupt where there’s any religion at all and atheism is massively destructive whenever it takes over the majority. Things, in other words, are almost as bad as they always are.

But while there are cycles and phases in history — and while everything made by mortals surely dies — modernity has shown itself full of unique moments and last minute rescues. I think of New York City before Giuliani; America before Reagan. Things can look pretty damn dark before the sun comes over the hill.

So really the only question is:  you want to grumble and despair or start pushing the sun up the hill? That’s what I figured. Start pushing.

I get that there are cycles and phases in history – but  sometimes it can take a few hundred years for the pendulum to swing back…  Decent, God fearing, and patriotic Americans are demonized and/or ridiculed by the Regime and its allies in the media on a daily basis  in order to push us further to the left. What the 2012 election showed us is that we as a nation finally reached a tipping point – demographically, intellectually, and morally. The country is heading for a major fall – not a swing. And I don’t think we’ll be climbing back up anytime soon.
