Obama Picks a Target and Freezes it: Permanent Campaign Re-Election Machine to Target NRA

The Obama administration puzzled many observers by leaving its campaign infrastructure largely in place in the aftermath of President Obama’s re-election win. Now we know why. According to Stephanie Cutter, President Obama’s former deputy campaign manager on Ed Schultz’s MSNBC program:

President Obama’s network across this country, grassroots individuals, who organize, volunteered with their time to get the president reelected are much more powerful than the NRA lobby. And I think that you can expect to see that network activated, very soon. And for good reason.

Cutter’s words should frighten Americans accustomed to the usual ins-and-outs of politics. Unlike prior presidents, who leveraged their campaign into power, then got down to the business of governing, Obama is running a permanent campaign intended to destroy his political opposition completely.

Brian Hughes of The Washington Examiner reported that Obama campaign manager Jim Messina got things rolling early Thursday morning. He sent emails to millions of supporters urging them to “stand with President Obama” on gun control, and later,  Biden previewed the campaign-style blitz the White House is getting ready to launch.

“We’re going to take it to the American people,” Biden told a gathering of U.S. mayors Thursday. “We’re going to go around the country making our case and we’re going to let the voices, the voices of the American people be heard.”

Obama for America is set to meet Sunday with supporters gathering in Washington for the president’s inauguration and will continue working to shift the organization’s focus from electing a president to pushing a legislative agenda.

Still, some questioned whether the grassroots organization can help usher gun control measures through a Congress that has repeatedly rejected such restrictions over the last two decades.

“The president has always been more successful selling himself than his policies,” said Frank Donatelli, who was President Reagan’s political director. “They have a big hill to climb. Most views on this issue are very well-known.”

The online petition Messina launched Thursday sets the stage for a major clash between two of the most influential organizations in politics. The Obama campaign compiled millions of email addresses during Obama’s two presidential runs. Meanwhile, the National Rifle Association, the nation’s most powerful gun rights lobby, boasts more than 4 million members.

The Divider in Chief strikes again. He must love conflict because that’s all he’s caused since he was elected. And his left-wing Patchouli smelling drones are going to have a hard time convincing red blooded Americans they should go along with their master’s anti-gun designs.

John Nolte of Big Journalism reported Thursday:

According the latest Gallup survey, which was taken after the Sandy Hook murders and Wayne LaPierre’s press conference, the NRA, despite being demonized 24/7 in the media, enjoys a favorability rating of 54%. Today, according to Gallup, Obama’s approval rating sits at 53%.

Moreover, only 38% of those polls have an unfavorable opinion of the NRA. Obama’s disapproval rating sits three points higher at 41%.

Part of the reason the White House, Democrats, and the corrupt media are losing their battle to marginalize and destroy the political power of the NRA, might have to do with the fact that a new CNN poll released today shows that an overwhelming majority of the America people agree with the NRA’s proposal to put armed guards in schools, 54% to 45%.

After Obama and his repulsive minions are through demagoguing the issue, the NRA’s position will be even stronger. And deploying innocent little tots as a substitute for substantive arguments is probably not going to have the hoped for effect, either.

That doesn’t mean Obama won’t put extreme pressure on Reid to force unpopular legislation through the Senate despite strong opposition. As we saw with Obamacare’s passage, Obama doesn’t much care what most Americans think. But obviously, he’ll have a tougher road with a Republican Congress and moderate Dems from red districts in the Senate to deal with.

Rush made this observation on his show, yesterday:

President Obama today is taking action that a majority of Americans disagree with.  He’s going down a road a majority of people disagree with.  He knows it.  The question is, why?  Why is Barack Obama literally trying to push people to snap?  Why is he doing this?  It’s as though in some way he’s attacking the very sanity of people in this country.  Why is he doing this?  Why is he deliberately making people so upset?  What is driving him?

A lifelong antipathy toward the Constitution?
