Commenting on Obama’s second inaugural address, Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer matter of factly called the speech “amazing” and remarkable” not as a compliment or a criticism, but as a way of describing the President’s complete rejection of limited government, and Reaganism, and his outright embrace of big government. He said the speech was a declaration that “the era of big government is back.”
“I thought it was an amazing speech, and historically very important,” Krauthammer began. “This this was really Obama unbound. And I think what’s most interesting is that Obama basically is declaring the end of Reaganism in this speech.”
He continued, “Reagan had declared government is not the solution, it’s the problem. Today’s address was a rebuke of that entire idea.”
I hope the top 50 percenters are ready for it — because big government is coming for our pocketbooks. Did all of Obama’s voters realize they were voting for unbridled Marxism back in November?

Today we continue a never-ending journey to bridge the meaning of those words with the realities of our time.
Uh oh. Look out. We’re going to bridge Jefferson’s words with “reality.” That means, of course, we are going to change Jeffersons words.
What Obama spends the next part of his speech – the most important part – doing is enunciating the liberal rationale for junking the intentions of the Founders and replacing them with their own.
To each according to his need? I suggest we cross that out.It is a rationale for creating Socialism on the framework of freedom: That in order for values like equality, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to be realized in modern society, government must act to safeguard them.
If government does not protect you with millions of pages of regulations, greedy capitalists will steal your freedoms; if government does not save man from his worst instincts, man will destroy the earth with non-biodegradable potato chip cannisters; if government does not pay to train workers and invest in the right technologies, people will be too stupid to do it on their own; and if government does not provide a safety net even for those who can succeed by themselves, then all people might not live the lives of the dreams.
Jefferson, Adams, Madison and Franklin trusted the people with a Republic. Liberals say the people can no longer be trusted alone with such things.
And so, Obama says:
We have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action.
Collective action meaning the government, not your local church . . .
Together, we determined that a modern economy requires railroads and highways to speed travel and commerce, schools and colleges to train our workers . . .
No single person can train all the math and science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future, or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores. Now, more than ever, we must do these things together, as one nation and one people.
And you should get points just for trying.
And oh my! Patterico unleashed a rant for the ages, today. Here’s but a snippet, but you need to go read the whole thing:
I don’t care whether he is intentionally trying to ruin the country’s economy, to drive us into European-style socialism, or whether he is just fiddling while Rome burns because that’s the easiest thing to do politically, and he knows our crap feckless media won’t call him on it. It doesn’t matter. Either way, he knows better and is not doing what is necessary.
In the past four years he has shown himself to be a wretched, God-awful excuse for a human being. God help the country that today officially “welcomes” another four years of this unthinkable set of economic atrocities.
This guy’s wife said, when he was elected the first time around, that it was the first time she had ever really been proud of her country. Now we live in a country that has re-elected this buffoon — and for the first time in my life, I am not really proud of our country. How dare he parade around children to read letters about a real tragedy, to enact a cynical gun-grabbing agenda for cheap partisan gain. After what he has done to my children’s future, the idea that he would use children as props for any policy advantage is infuriating enough to make me want to bang my head against the wall hard enough to bring down the house around my ears.
And watching our media lionize this scumbag is more than I can take. You can bet I won’t turn on the television today. If I did, I’d throw a shoe at it.
I see nothing but misery on the horizon, and we’re rushing headlong towards it, led by a pompous, self-satisfied, grinning narcissistic fool.
Dang if I don’t agree with the whole thing – especially the “I am not really proud of our country” part. No, I’m actually ashamed. Mortified, really. What the hell happened to us?
