Michelle Malkin: Kneel before Zod! GOP control freak Karl Rove launches new effort to snuff out Tea Party:

This is war.

But of course, for Beltway establishment strategist and GOP control freak Karl Rove, it has been war on grass-roots conservatives for years now. The New York Times reported this weekend that Rove and the deep-pocketed donors whose coffers he drained futilely this past year are doubling down on stupid. Rove, Inc. will re-commit to a new group that will “protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s effort to win control of the Senate.”

Who needs Obama and his Team Chicago to destroy the Tea Party when you’ve got Rove and his big government band of elites?

Rove and his Tea Party-bashing minions will point to the losses of Christine O’Donnell, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Sharron Angle, Ken Buck, and others as justification to tighten his grip on the party in the role of Chief Decider. But those are all very disparate cases. It is ridiculous, for example, to continue smearing and lumping Mourdock (a bona fide, grass-roots candidate and fantastic State Treasurer whose sin was to honestly state his views on life) with establishment incumbent Republican Akin (whose indefensible Magical Uterus Meme idiocy cost the GOP a winnable Senate seat).

Human Events: ‘American sniper’ cut down by sick vet he helped:

Texas law enforcement arrested the accused assassin of the best sniper ever deployed by the American military, gunned down Feb. 2 at an exclusive sportsman’s club in Glen Rose, Texas.

Eddie Ray Routh was a troubled combat veteran Chris Kyle, the retired Navy SEAL, whose book “American Sniper” was trying to help, said Steven Young, the CEO of Craft International, the security consulting and training firm founded by Kyle. The book chronicles Kyle’s life in speicial operations and his four tours of Iraq, where he racked up more than 150 confirmed kills.

Gateway Pundit: Sandy Hook Dad: You`ll Have to Take My Guns “From My Cold Dead Hands” (Video)

Bill Stevens, whose daughter attended Sandy Hook Elementary school, testified before a Working Group Public Hearing at the Connecticut State Capitol on gun violence prevention. Mr. Stevens told the committee about his daughter’s 5th grade friend at the school,

“Unfortunately, her friend’s little sister was murdered in Sandy Hook that day when lock-down and 911 were not enough to protect her from an evil person… Charlton Heston made the phrase “From my cold dead hands” famous and I am here to tell you today, you will take my ability to protect my Victoria from my cold dead hands.”

Weasel Zippers: Harry Reid: “I’ve Got Lots of Guns”…

Via CNS News:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told ABC’s “This Week” “I’ve got lots of guns,” when asked his views on the Second Amendment and efforts by some of his Democratic colleagues to enact stricter gun control measures.

“I’ve got lots of guns,” Reid told host George Stephanopoulos in an interview Sunday. “I had guns from the time I was a little boy. I don’t hunt anymore, but I did.”

Star Parker, Townhall: Obama and Gun Control:

Every normal and decent American wants to live in a country where we will never again see life lost as result of a weapon held and fired by some deranged individual.

If we knew how to prevent it from ever happening again, we all would sign off in a minute.

But we don’t know. And that is the point.

Ironically, President Obama acknowledges that we don’t know what causes the irrational violent incidents we have witnessed. It is the reason one part of the proposal he has put forth is to provide funding to the Centers for Disease Control to study the problem.

Yet, despite acknowledging lack of understanding about what drives gun violence, the president and Senator Dianne Feinstein do not hesitate to offer what they claim is a solution. They propose further controls on gun ownership that are deeply problematic in their intrusion on our freedoms and right to bear arms, guaranteed under the second amendment of our constitution.

Why are the president and Senator Feinstein so ready to compromise basic American freedoms with gun control measures, that already have a dubious record of success, to solve a problem that President Obama acknowledges we don’t understand?

To the president’s credit, in his remarks introducing his gun control initiative, he acknowledges that there may be cultural reasons that contribute to this sick, violent behavior.

But he defines the cultural parameters of what he chooses to look at in such narrow terms that you have to question his seriousness or sincerity.

The president said, “Congress should fund research into the effects that violent video games have on young minds.”

But why limit this discussion to video games?

Has the president walked by a local movie theater complex recently to see what is playing? How about the local fare on television? Or what about the content of rap music?

White House Dossier: Top Obama Economic Aide Cuts and Pastes His Statements:

White House Council of Economic Adviser Chair Alan Krueger has begun his monthly statements on the nation’s employment situation with nearly the exact same sentences almost every month since November 2011, just after he was installed as one of Obama’s most senior economic advisers.

With the exception of some variation in the May 2012 statement, Krueger has mailed it in every month, not bothering to change a thing in the opening lines of his commentary on the statistic that is perhaps more important to Americans.

Washington Times: Obama misses budget deadline:

Monday marked the deadline set in law for President Obama to submit a budget, but he missed it — making this the fourth time in his five years in office that he’s failed to submit the blueprint on time.

That makes his record equal to the three previous presidents combined, who spanned 20 years in office.

White House press secretary Jay Carney defended the administration, telling reporters traveling with the president to Minnesota for a speech about gun control Monday to focus on “substance over deadlines.”

Mr. Carney declined to say when Mr. Obama will present a budget.

Did he really admonish the media to focus on “substance over deadlines” while traveling on a plane with a president who is on a  perpetual campaign designed to keep America’s focus off of his crappy economy?

Christian Adams, PJ Media: Going to Court in the Allen West Contest:

Today, True the Vote filed a federal lawsuit against the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections regarding the contest for the 18th Congressional District in Florida — the Allen West race. The case is brought under the 1993 Motor Voter law. (Full, yet totally unnecessary disclosure: I am one of the lawyers who brought the case, along with Michael Barnett).

Business Insider: Russia Is Sending Troops To The US To Learn American Military Tactics:

Russian paratroopers will meet up with American forces next month for an unprecedented military exercise in Colorado, according to RT News. It’s the first time Russian service members will be invited into the United States for a joint drill.A Russian airborne task force will “exercise with U.S. special service weapons,” an announcement by Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Col. Aleksandr Kucherenko revealed. The official purpose of the joint training is to practice airborne tactics and anti-terror operations, such as dropping into a hostile area and conducting a “terrorist camp raid.”
Anti-terror as in foreign terrorism, not what this regime considers “domestic terrorism”, right?
In my novel 2006: the Chautauqua Rising, which was published in the year 2000, New York State officials exploit a school shooting to strip state citizens of their constitutional rights.  This provokes a grass roots insurrection in Western New York that seemed, to some critics at least, far-fetched.  I excerpted a relevant section of the book in these pages after the Newtown shooting in December.

A recent forum held by state officials in Western New York explaining Gov. Cuomo’s new gun legislation suggests that life sometimes does imitate art.

Joel Pollak, The Conversation: Ron Paul’s conditional love for the military:

Ron Paul’s bizarre insult against murdered Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle today is causing outrage everywhere. And deservedly so.

I’ve heard for years from Ron Paul supporters about how he is supported by the troops, and that he’s been the only Republican presidential candidate with military experience (the Hagel defense).

Chris Stirewalt, Fox News: Obama Courts Backlash With Gay Scoutmaster Stance:

President Obama doesn’t have anything to do with the Boy Scouts of America, so what difference does it make that he thinks there ought to be openly gay scoutmasters?

Quite a lot, actually.

Whatever his reason… gnawing on the subject of gay scoutmasters as fathers and sons across the land sat down for the big game on Super Bowl Sunday will certainly not do anything to diminish the Republican attack that the president is a hard-left ideologue.

For the Scouts it means what had already been a painful and divisive debate will become worse: more political and more partisan. The prospect of a schism looms larger as the president’s supporters and opponents take sides. Gay activists may eventually get their way, but their victory could be a hollow one.

And for the president, using a pre-Super Bowl interview to pass judgment on the Scouts and their policy will have consequences too. Particularly when it comes to his laundry list of liberal political priorities

Obama sure has done a lot of “evolving” on gay issues in the past year, hasn’t he?
Joel Pollack: Obama’s gratuitous attack on the Boy Scouts:
You don’t have to support the Boy Scouts’ ban on gay scoutmasters to be alarmed that President Barack Obama thinks that topic is an appropriate area for intervention or comment.
New York State Assemblyman William F. Boyland, Jr., already under federal indictment for bribery, now stands accused of falsifying more than $67,000 in travel expenses over a five year period.  According to the Times Union, Boyland filed false claims on 609 out of the 975 days that he requested travel reimbursements during that time span. The State Comptroller’s Office has declined to make the report public, and Albany County District Attorney David Soares, a Democrat, has still failed to take action against Boyland, despite specific requests from colleagues in the Assembly

Now that Scott Brown has said he’s not running for John Kerry’s open seat, the GOP is scrambling. Very often it seems to me the wife of the candidate is the person who should be running, as with last year’s presidential run. I think this is a great idea and hope she’d have the energy and inclination to do so. I’m curious to see what you think.

Massachusetts Republicans are desperately scrambling to find a strong Senate candidate to replace Scott Brown, with some even trying to persuade Mitt Romney’s wife or son to jump into the race to avert another electoral disaster.

Update: Tagg, you’re it for GOP Senate hopes.

  1. Apparently Rove likes the RINO lean to the party. The establishment has inexplicably decided to separate itself from its powerbase…and the band plays on as everyone moves further left.

  2. Ronald Reagan who all of the alleged party faithful love to tie their leanings too, once said about the democrat party:
    . . . . . . . . . .”I didn’t leave the democrat party, the democrat party left me.”

This Rove move is just the latest confirmation that the Republican Party no longer hold conservatism as it’s basic core policy. I’d love to know who appointed Rove as the standard bearer and de facto titular head of the party, who will determine who and when “anybody” gets the nod to represent the peons. The entrenched party elitists have been slaughtering conservative candidates for years now and “selecting” the chosen candidates to run in elections. For decades now, those chosen elitist candidates have been losing, mainly because they really aren’t a true representation of the party ideology. Yet, somehow these wizards haven’t gotten the message that the conservative base doesn’t buy their hand chosen selections. Especially when it comes to “Conservative Female Candidates”.

Don’t believe me? Just ask Christine O’Donnell, Michelle Bachmann, Nikki Haley or Sarah Palin just to name a few. Or how about those other nominations that were forced on us like, Ford, Bush 41, Dole, McCain or Romney. How have those worked out for us? Speaking for myself, I am tired of holding my nose and having to chose the lesser of the two evils. I’ve had it.

It’s way past time that the heart of the Republican Party, “conservatives” realize that the party has left them and it’s time to move on and start anew. It’s time for the Elitist Republican party and their loyalists go the way of the Whig party. It’s way past time for a new and a restored beginning, we/our Country doesn’t have much time left. While the Titanic crew [repubics] decide how to arrange the deck chairs.
