Monday Defund Recap: Cruz Takes High Road, Levin Slams Treacherous Republicans, Obama Plans Brazen Assault on Constitution…

Conservatives on Capital Hill are facing headwinds as they endeavor to undo the damage Obama has done to the country. They not only have to fight the Democrats, the MSM, the Community Organizer in Chief, and his minions but the RINOs in their  own party who have been backstabbing them at every turn.

The Right Scoop: Mark Levin: Mitch McConnell just STABBED Ted Cruz and Mike Lee IN THE BACK:

The plan is that once Republicans and Democrats vote to allow discussion on the House Bill, which already defunds Obamacare, Reid will then propose an amendment that strips out that Obamacare defunding. The problem is the amendment cannot be filibustered, but will require only a simple majority to pass. Reid will not approve any rules that allow for filibustering amendments even though he has done it in the past.

So in order to stop Reid from stripping out the defunding mechanism, the House bill must be filibustered from the outset so that it cannot get to the amendment stage. But it will look like Republicans are filibustering the very bill they actually support and want to pass. That’s the trick that makes this process backwards.

So knowing all of that, what did McConnell do today? He said he would vote to allow discussion on the bill because he supports the bill, knowing full well the Senate will kill the Obamacare defunding with a simple majority. And Levin says other Republicans are lining up behind McConnell’s position.

Don’t be fooled by this political theater going on in Washington, DC. The fix is in and both sides are trying to fund ObamaCare while saving face.

The whole of House Republican Leadership thinks you are stupid. They have passed a bill that they know will be changed by Harry Reid before it goes back to the House in a few days. The smoking gun will happen when Boehner allows a Senate passed government funding measure to come up in the House minus the provision defunding ObamaCare. You wait and see.

Also, know that Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is in on this too. He is going to stand with Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) to save his Senate seat, but he knows that he has the power to stop this scheme.

Here is how both Republican and Democrats in leadership are trying to fool you. The House passed a Continuing Resolution, a measure to fund the government for two and one half months, with two things attached. A measure to defund ObamaCare and another to reorder the debt payment priorities of the United States government to allow the federal government to operate if the debt limit forbids anymore federal borrowing. These amendments were grouped in a way making it very easy for the Senate to delete this provision. And that was by design.

After the House passed the resolution, they had a big fake rally to make believe they were happy that they were funding the government while defunding ObamaCare. Yet Republicans in the House think we are stupid. Representatives like Peter King (R-NY) and Tom Cole (R-Oklahoma) either went on TV or yelled at Tea Party minded constituents to tell them why the House could not pass a budget bill that defunds ObamaCare, yet they did it. These moderates only supported the House effort because they knew it was without teeth and an effort to make believe they are fighting ObamaCare.

Hot Air: Oh my: McConnell, Cornyn won’t join Cruz and Lee in filibustering House’s CR to defund ObamaCare:

The surprise, obviously, is that you’ve got two Republicans who are up for reelection next year whom tea partiers already disdain deciding to pull the plug on Ted Cruz’s procedural play on his very first move. Why they would do that when there are probably already six other Senate Republicans willing to cross the aisle and give Reid the 60 votes he needs to beat Cruz’s filibuster, I don’t know. All it does is increase the odds of them being primaried. Per the boldfaced line, though, they’re counting on voters to be deeply confused about exactly what’s going on here; when they’re called out for not voting with Ted, they can say with a straight face that all they did was vote for the House bill that defunds ObamaCare. They could also note, correctly, that by refusing to filibuster they made life more difficult for vulnerable Democrats like Pryor, Landrieu, Begich, and Hagan by forcing them to cast an up-or-down vote on stripping out the defunding provisions. That might be worth something to grassroots righties who are eager to reclaim the Senate.

Via Mediaite: Ted Cruz Reacts to Republicans Feeding Fox’s Chris Wallace Info on Him Hannity – Fox News:

Senator Ted Cruz has become the latest Washington punching bag for his dedication to defunding Obamacare at any cost, even amongst Republicans. Fox News’ Chris Wallace revealed on Sunday that “top Republicans” sent him negative material about Cruz ahead of his interview on the Sunday show. On Sean Hannity’s show Monday night, Cruz reacted to the news of his colleagues attempting to discredit him.

Hannity said he couldn’t think of a single Republican currently in Congress who didn’t run on a platform to repeal and replace Obamacare, but somehow a lot of Cruz’s fellow Republicans are backing away from his plan. He brought up Wallace’s admission and asked Cruz for his reaction.

Via Mediaite: Mark Levin: Republicans Are Using Fox News to ‘Defeat’ Conservatives:

The host began by remarking on just how much one can find Karl Rove on Fox’s air, saying he’s “like a bad rash, the guy never goes away.” Later, he gave his listeners a lesson about “entrenched Republicans who actually like big government, they just want to run it.”

He referred to “conservatives” as the “outsiders” who push the party in the right direction. Levin said that now, the Republican Party is actually using Fox News to try to “defeat” conservatives, “and it’s really quite remarkable.”

“I don’t see a big conservative media other than a handful of us on talk radio,” Levin said, “and a handful of columnists and a handful of websites on the internet.”

“I see a Republican media,” he said, referring to bigger establishment sources like Fox News that are “preaching accommodation, and surrender and moderation as conservatism.”

“The problem is the Gerald Ford,  John McCain, Mitt Romney wing of the Republican party has the mantle but the grassroots wants nothing to do with them” Levin complained. “The tea party came to be not just because of Barack Obama but because of the last days of Bush with TARP, with massive spending with subsidizing GM and Chrysler and so forth – the people have had enough.”

Freedomworks: Dr. Phil Roe Describes All Of The Above Approach To Fighting Obamacare:

Dr. Phil Roe (R-TN) is the Co-Chair of the GOP Doctors Caucus in the House of Representatives. In an interview on Friday, he described the strategy behind the vote to defund Obamacare, the negative effects that Obamacare is having across the nation, and the status of the defunding coalition in the House and Senate. A second article will discuss Roe’s new bill, HR 3121, that is a market based alternative to Obamacare.

Dr. Roe says that he’s introduced the term ‘herd immunity’ several times with House leadership, in an attempt to get the coalition to stay together: “In medicine, when discussing infectious disease, if everyone in the herd is immunized, nobody gets sick. When individuals go without, they can get sick and spread disease among the herd. Republicans can learn from this – when we stick together, we’re stronger. The American people want leadership from somebody, and they haven’t been getting it.” Roe was adamant that this vote was good for the nation, and that America was looking to House Republicans to show real leadership on the issue.

Roe believes that every Republican on the Hill is dedicated to getting rid of Obamacare, but they may differ on the strategy to achieve this goal. When asked about Senator Cruz’s statements late last week and whether they hindered the momentum to defund, Roe said, “I haven’t spoken with him since the report, but I think he’s probably had a re-think. We have sent the ball over to their court now. The House has done its job. I won’t give us kudos though, because there’s a lot of work to do. Next week’s votes are gonna be a lot tougher”, once they know what bill is returned to them after a vote in the Senate.

However, Roe is dedicated to this effort, citing several examples of clinics that are cutting jobs, contrary to expectations, due to Obamacare. “In my state, one large clinic is laying off 1,000 people and cutting its budget by $250 million. Cleveland Clinic recently announced that it is cutting 3,000 workers. And Lee County, Virginia, just over the state line from my district, is closing its county hospital due to Obamacare – and they’ll never get another hospital again.”

He made the case for Defund on the Senate floor today, saying the White House is giving ObamaCare waivers to everyone but John Q. Public…

“The only person who apparently is stuck with this, who doesn’t have power to influence the process, is John Q. Citizen”, Sessions said.  “Unions are getting delays, businesses are getting employer mandate delays—because it just won’t work. And in fact this bill is clearly, indisputably savaging job creation and economic growth…

[President Obama’s position is,] ‘No change—not one jot, not one tittle, of my health care [law] will be changed.’ What is he saying there? ‘I’ll shut down the government before I’ll allow a change in my perfect health care bill.’ So I want to raise the question, who is causing the problem in this country? … It’s the President of the United States, and the majority in the Senate.”

Fox News Greta Van Susteren: GOP civil war over ObamaCare helps Obama?

Senator Mike Lee talked Defund strategy with Susteren, Monday night.

When asked if he would like to know which of his colleagues fed Chris Wallace the anti-Cruz talking points, Lee replied, “I would be very curious –  I would love to know who those names are. I found that very disturbing.”

When Greta asked if he was surprised by it, Lee said, “most things in Washington don’t surprise me anymore – that one did…..and we’ve got to get to the bottom of it.”

He went on to say that they’re going to have a meeting with the Leader tomorrow morning, and that subject will surely come up.

Via Right Scoop, Mark Levin explains why Obama is running around the country demagoguing the debt ceiling and defund ObamaCare debates using extreme, overwrought language. Levin contends that in what would be the worst violation of the Constitution of his presidency, Obama is getting ready to unilaterally raise the debt ceiling all by himself. Levin believes Obama has revealed these plans to Boehner and McConnell and is using it to twist their arms on Obamacare.
