His (Obama’s) violation of the proper limits of executive power has become breathtaking. It’s not just making recess appointments when the Senate is in session. It’s not just unilaterally imposing a law Congress had refused to pass — the Dream Act — by brazenly suspending large sectionsof the immigration laws.
We’ve now reached a point where a flailing president, desperate to deflect the opprobrium heaped upon him for the false promise that you could keep your health plan if you wanted to, calls a hasty news conference urging both insurers and the states to reinstate millions of such plans.
Except that he is asking them to break the law. His own law. Under Obamacare, no insurer may issue a policy after 2013 that does not meet the law’s minimum coverage requirements. These plans were canceled because they do not.
The law remains unchanged. The regulations governing that law remain unchanged. Nothing is changed except for a president proposing to unilaterally change his own law from the White House press room.
That’s banana republic stuff, except that there the dictator proclaims from the presidential balcony.
Remember how for months Democrats denounced Republicans for daring to vote to defund or postpone Obamacare? Saboteurs! Terrorists! How dare you alter “the law of the land.”
This was nonsense from the beginning. Every law is subject to revision and abolition if the people think it turned out to be a bad idea. Even constitutional amendments can be repealed — and have been (see Prohibition).
After indignant denunciation of Republicans for trying to amend “the law of the land” constitutionally (i.e. in Congress assembled), Democrats turn utterly silent when the president lawlessly tries to do so by executive fiat.

Mr. Obama is moving our government away from its traditional system of checks and balances and toward the one-man-rule that dominates third world countries. He has said that he wants a faircountry—implying that, as it stands, the United States is not a fair country—an unprecedented calumny committed against a country by its own leader.
What country does he think is more fair than the United States? He has three long years left in which to turn us into a fair country. Where does he intend to take us?
Mr. Obama got his conception of a fair country from his teachers. A fair country is anunfree country because it is regimented to prevent anyone from rising too high. Their ideal is egalitarianism, the notion that no one should be any better, higher, or richer than anyone else. Combined with a dollop of totalitarianism, egalitarianism has replaced communism as the dominant ideal in our most prestigious universities. Mr. Obama and his colleagues are the product of those universities, and they have their marching orders.
The most important point is that Mr. Obama does not consider himself bound by the Constitution. He could not have made that more clear. He has drawn a line in the concrete and we cannot ignore it.
Those who currently hold political office, and who want to keep our system of government, need to act now. Surely, rejection of the Constitution is grounds for impeachment and charges should be filed. In addition, there are many other actions that Congressmen can and should take—actions that will tell Mr. Obama that we have seen where he is going and we will not let our country go without a fight.
At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked what form of government had been created. “A republic,” he replied, “if you can keep it.”
We are losing it. If Mr. Obama’s reach for unprecedented power is not stopped, that will be the end. Everyone who values his life and liberty should find some way to say “No!” “Not now!” “Not yet!” “Not ever!”
Washington Examiner: Head of scandal-plagued FMCS to resign following Washington Examiner series:
Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Director George Cohen is resigning only days after learning he is a target of a congressional inquiry spurred by a Washington Examiner series.
The Examiner series reported that FMCS employees spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on luxuries and that top officials retaliated against employees who questioned the spending.
“I have notified President Obama that I intend to resign as Director, effective December 31, 2013,” Cohen told employees in a memo obtained by the Examiner.
“I am happy to report that I leave the agency in very good shape with the admiration and respect coming from private parties, federal government agencies, and public sector organizations and their respective union representatives.

At a salary of $165,000, he oversaw the 230-person agency with a budget of $50 million that provides non-binding, voluntary arbitration between private companies’ and governments’ managers and unions.
“Let me give you the honest truth: A lot of FMCS employees don’t do a hell of a lot, including myself. Personally, the reason that I’ve stayed is that I just don’t feel like working that hard, plus the location on K Street is great, plus we all have these oversized offices with windows, plus management doesn’t seem to care if we stay out at lunch a long time. Can you blame me?” said an FMCS employee who asked for anonymity.
“The agency really needs to be incorporated back into the Department of Labor, the way it was back in the early days, or totally eliminated,” the employee said.

is strictly enforced under Obamacare. Small businesses of at least 50 employees will have to pay hefty fines for each worker not insured — fines that essentially add up to the cost of providing all workers insurance.

Deprived of free political speech, Soviets had developed a culture of underground political jokes. I used to remember thousands of them.

Already in America I discovered that most of my old Soviet jokes didn’t work in translation. It wasn’t so much the language difference as the fact that Americans had no first-hand knowledge of a totalitarian government, ideological uniformity, and shameless propaganda.
But that is changing. The more America “progresses” back to the Soviet model, the more translatable the old Soviet jokes become.Let’s see how an old Soviet joke can be rewritten into a new American joke.

The White House Obamacare deception campaign continues, with a false claim by administration officials that they have succeeded in their goal of fixing the website by December 1.
Remember the claim: things would run smoothly for a “vast majority of uses.” I don’t care what number you put on it, “the vast majority” sounds like only isolated problems here or there. And that’s not what’s going on.
First of all, despite all the gibberish from the administration, we really have no idea how many people can enroll. We do know that many people cannot because the portion of the system that sends consumer information to the insurance companies doesn’t work well at all.
It’s like if Amazon bragged you could order off its website, only you have no idea if your new blender is going to get put in the delivery truck.

On Wednesday, Ed Schultz, Al Sharpton, and Chris Hayes all dedicated their entire shows to telling Americans how to talk with conservative relatives during Thanksgiving. Schultz had on comedian John Fugelsang, who blabbed about “your, uh, Obamacare-hating uncle…your NRA uncle…your gay for Reagan uncle…your uncle who uses Benghazi as a verb.” Sharpton then gave his own talking pointsfor the “aunt or uncle who watches Fox News all day.” Chris Hayes also chipped in.

Back in September, the New York Times promoted Bill de Blasio’s mayoral candidacy with an editorial titled, “Don’t Fear the Squeegee Man.” The editorial informed readers that crime wouldn’t get worse under de Blasio because “policing is far better than it used to be, thanks to innovations by Mayor David Dinkins.” (Emphasis added — the Times was not being sarcastic.)
Under the policing “innovations” of Mayor Dinkins, the annual murder rate in New York City rose to an all-time high of 2,245 in Dinkins’ first year in office. After four years of hard work, the murder rate had dropped by about 10 percent, to a merely astronomical 1,995 per year.
In Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s very first year in office, the murder rate fell 20 percent. The Times acknowledged the dramatic drop in crime with an article titled, “New York City Crime Falls But Just Why Is a Mystery.” By Giuliani’s last year in office, there were only 714 murders in the entire city, a drop of 64 percent from Dinkins’ personal best. By continuing Giuliani’s aggressive crime policies, Mayor Michael Bloomberg got the murder rate for 2012 down to 419 in a city of 8 million people.

Fox News reports that Cardinal Dolan, in an interview with David Gregory of Meet the Press, claims that the Church was “outmarketed” on the issue of gay marriage. From the report:
Asked why the church is losing the argument on gay marriage, Dolan responded, “Well, I think maybe we’ve been outmarketed sometimes. We’ve been caricatured as being anti-gay.”
He said the church supports “traditional marriage and is not “anti-anybody,” adding, “When you have forces like Hollywood, when you have forces like politicians, when you have forces like some opinion-molders that are behind it, it’s a tough battle.”
Without knowing it, Cardinal Dolan has identified the core of the problem. Our leadership, with few exceptions, have adopted the superficiality of branding and marketing as a cheap substitute for the grittiness and tenacity of evangelization. Worse still, while we have abandoned evangelization and hewing to the hard line of the Gospel, it is the other side who have been engaged in the grit and tenacity of evangelization.

We go into medicine for one reason, and one reason only: Because we care about people, we want the people who we serve to have a productive, happy, healthy life.” It is likely that the majority of these eleven individuals will win in their respective states. In 2012, doctors were rated as the third most trustworthy professionals in the country.

Our cell phones are chewing up more and more spectrum – so the cell phone companies need more and more of it to keep us productive and happy. Thus there will be in our future a government-run two-pronged spectrum incentive auction – to get more of it to market.
Prong One: The nation’s broadcasters can if they wish sell to the government some or all of their spectrum. Prong Two: The government will then hold an auction to sell said spectrum to the nation’s wireless phone providers.
T’would be far better if the government hadn’t inserted itself as a middle man – and the broadcasters could simply organize with the wireless phone providers a secondary-market auction. But why do things simply and efficiently? This is Washington, after all.
The government wants its money cut – which it could have had without being the go-between. What the government couldn’t do as an innocent bystander is mess around with how the auction is conducted. Herein lies the potential problem.
Some Media Marxist groups are demanding that the government prevent AT&T and Verizon from openly bidding on any spectrum they wish. Why? Because these Leftists have deemed these two to be too successful – and they want the government to spread the wealth around.

There used to be a time when a lot of the Rebeldes actually thought the anonymous Soopermexican was kind of cool. Hell, there was even a time when our group kind of respected the “SOOPer. MEXY. CONservative.” He/She was fun to engage on Twitter, even though we rarely agreed on issues, but when we did share similar views (Chimichanga-Gate, anyone?), it was actually kind of fun. You knew where you stood and we actually believed that Soop also thought that amplifying Latino ignorance was a noble thing to do.
Those fun times have changed and to be honest, we blocked Soop a while ago after we noticed that his/her views were getting more and more out there and that he/she basically spends a lot of time on Twitter just crapping and trolling on people. His/Her shtick was getting trite and the whole anonymous things was cowardly. You would think that such a self-proclaimed Internet celebrity would want to reveal his/her identity. Maybe add to your his/her credibility, but as we soon discovered, the Soop has become a caricature of his/her former brilliance, his/her role limited to being the symbolic “Mexican friend” so many so-called conservatives want to have around. Meh.
