Cruz Calls For Investigation of MS Runoff: “It Would Be Abominable If Repubs Were Involved In Voter Fraud”

“What happened in Mississippi was appalling,” said Senator Ted Cruz on the Mark Levin Radio Show Monday evening. “Primaries are always rough and tumble but the conduct of the Washington DC machine in the Mississippi run-off machine was incredibly disappointing.”

“In that race,” he continued, “we know some things – and then there are even more serious allegations that have been raised. What we know at the outset, is that Chris McDaniel won a sizable majority of the votes from Republicans in the runoff. But the DC machine spent hundreds of millions of dollars urging some 30,000 to 40,000 partisan Democrats to vote in the runoff and they changed the outcome.”

Cruz made sure to note that “all of us want to grow the party,” adding, “but what the DC machine did was not to grow the party – the ads they ran were racially charged false attacks and they were explicit promises to continue to expand the welfare state. And nobody has suggested that the Democrats who voted in the primary will actually vote Republican in the general election. Instead, they were just recruited to decide who the Republican nominee was.”

As unprincipled and wrong as that was, more troubling are the serious allegations of voter fraud, Cruz continued. “And I very much hope that no Republican was involved with voter fraud.”

He said, “these allegations need to be vigorously investigated and anyone involved in criminal conduct should be prosecuted. The voters of Mississippi deserve to know the truth.”

After the break, Cruz repeated his call for an investigation and his hope that no Republicans were involved in it. “I think it would be abominable if Republicans were involved in voter fraud,” he concluded.

Let me tell you something. The Stupid Party better wise up real fast, because what happened in Mississippi was so nasty, so corrupt, and rotten, it could seriously derail their chances of retaking the Senate.

I have the same sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I had when Todd Akin irredeemably botched an abortion question during the 2012 election season.  The Democrat party was having some success with their manufactured Republican War on Women narrative and Akin walked right into a mine field with his “legitimate rape” comment. He needed to step down and let another Republican take his place in the wake of the firestorm. But he refused. And he lost. I knew he would lose.  Missouri was sentenced to another six years of Claire McCaskill – a tragic outcome could have been avoided.

The GOP establishment seems to have no idea how disgusted and enraged the conservative base is about their corrupt  tactics in the Mississippi runoff. If they were smart, they would ask Cochran to step down and let the younger, sharper, and more popular Republican Chris McDaniel take his place.

All would be forgotten. (Of course, if any laws were broken, those involved would need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.) But if Cochran is the candidate , he cannot be considered a sure thing in the general – in fact, my gut is telling me he’ll lose. And frankly, he deserves to.

And that makes retaking the Senate all the more difficult.

Republicans may have succeeded in making themselves their own worst enemy in the Fall by refusing to yield any ground at all to any already weary base.

“This infighting has taken its toll,” said Amy Walter, a national political analyst for the nonpartisan Cook Political Report. Republicans “are not as enthusiastic as they were in 2010. Even they are a little bit disillusioned by what’s been happening over the last couple years.”

That also means Republican candidates are not getting the benefit of the doubt among independent voters as they did in 2010, Walter added.

Senator Sessions: Border Crisis is “the Direct Result Of The President’s Policies” (Video)

Senator Jeff Sessions took to the Senate floor today to lambaste the president, saying the Regime’s lawless conduct demeans the respect the nation should have in the world. He blamed the crisis on the border squarely on Obama’s shoulders, saying that the crisis is a direct of his lax immigration policies.

“The President executes the laws. It’s his duty to see that the laws are faithfully executed. And they’re not being faithfully executed. In fact, they’re being eviscerated by policy after policy after policy. One of the top immigration officials declared that if somebody gets into America and past the border, they’re virtually unlikely to ever be deported, adult or child. This is the direct result of the President’s policies…

It demeans the respect this nation should have in the world, [and] it undermines one of the most remarkable, valuable characteristics of America, and that is our commitment to the rule of law. It’s a direct affront to the rule of law. It directly undermines the sovereignty of our nation: if you don’t control our border, you don’t control your sovereignty. And it’s just wrong.”

John Boehner: Why we must now sue the President:

Every member of Congress swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So did President Barack Obama.

But too often over the past five years, the President has circumvented the American people and their elected representatives through executive action, changing and creating his own laws, and excusing himself from enforcing statutes he is sworn to uphold — at times even boasting about his willingness to do it, as if daring the American people to stop him.

That’s why, later this month, we will bring legislation to the House floor that would authorize the House of Representatives to file suit in an effort to compel President Obama to follow his oath of office and faithfully execute the laws of our country.

What’s disappointing is the President’s flippant dismissal of the Constitution we are both sworn to defend. It is utterly beneath the dignity of the office. I know the President is frustrated. I’m frustrated. The American people are frustrated, too.

After years of slow economic growth and high unemployment under President Obama, they are still asking, ‘where are the jobs?’ The House has passed more than 40 jobs bills that would help. But Washington Democrats, led by the President, just ignore them.

Even worse, the President’s habit of ignoring the law as written hurts our economy and jobs even more. Washington taxes and regulations always make it harder for private sector employers to meet payrolls, invest in new initiatives and create jobs — but how can those employers plan, invest and grow when the laws are changing on the President’s whim at any moment?

I don’t take the House legal action against the President lightly. We’ve passed legislation to address this problem (twice), but Senate Democrats, characteristically, have ignored it.

Andrew McCarthy NRO: Boehner Is Bringing a Whistle to a Gunfight

As I’ve catalogued in Faithless Execution, there is nothing ambiguous about the vast run of President Obama’s lawlessness. We’re not talking about a backdoor curve on the black; these are arrant violations. Indeed, the administration does not deny its illegalities, it rationalizes them — contorting the “prosecutorial discretion” doctrine into a license to ignore and rewrite statutes; employing an attorney general who exhorts state attorneys general to flout laws that contradict Obama pieties; and so on. When a storeowner finds his shelves empty, he and everyone else know he’s been robbed; he doesn’t need a lawyer in a black robe to say, “It is hereby decreed that robbery has occurred.”

Andrew McCarthy NRO: Boehner Issues Memo Explaining His Feckless Plan to Sue Obama

Speaker Boehner correctly points out that all Americans, regardless of partisan or ideological inclination, have an interest in stopping executive lawlessness because the imperial precedents President Obama is setting will be available for exploitation by every future president. Yet, Boehner is heedless of the precedent he proposes to set: Instead of Obama’s executive monarchy, we’d now be subjects of a judicial oligarchy—all future presidents, no matter how lawful their actions, would be subject to vexatious congressional lawsuits and court directives from the judiciary Obama has been stocking with hundreds of like-minded Leftists for the last six years. Putting aside the fact that this would put politically unaccountable judges in charge of all policy matters in our body politic, does anyone suppose that Democrats just might use Boehner’s lawsuit gambit as the basis for harassing a future Republican president that they lacked the votes to impeach or slash funding from?

The end of the Boehner memo is priceless. It contends:

Under our system of government, the Judicial Branch has the power to resolve disputes between the Executive and Legislative Branches. When there is a failure on the part of the president to faithfully execute the law, the House has the authority to challenge this failure in the Judicial Branch by filing suit in Federal Court in situations in which:

  • There is no one else who can challenge the president’s failure, and harm is being done to the general welfare and trust in faithful execution of our laws;
  • There is no legislative remedy; and
  • There is explicit House authorization for the lawsuit, through a vote authorizing the litigation against the president’s failure.

Everything asserted here is either untrue or abject nonsense:

If no one is in a position to “challenge the president’s failure” to follow the law, that is because no one has suffered a concrete personal injury that would provide the standing necessary for a court case — judges are not there to resolve power disputes between the political branches.
There is an institution that “can challenge the president’s failure” to execute the laws faithfully: It is the Congress.
And there is a legislative remedy: Congress has the power to defundexecutive-branch activities and impeach lawless executive-branch officials, including the president himself.

Either of those responses would stop the president’s lawlessness in its tracks. And sure, the leader of the opposition party controlling the House may well be able to pass an “explicit House authorization for the lawsuit” Boehner anticipates filing. After all, how hard is it to get a bunch of congressional Republicans to agree that punting to the courts is easier than rolling up their sleeves and doing their jobs?

Cruz: Obama’s Border Policy is the Opposite of a Humane Policy

061714_ff_illegals_640

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, today called into the Sean Hannity Radio Show to discuss issues surrounding border security as well as recent events between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

On the humanitarian crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border as a result of President Obama’s lawlessness:

“The President is right that it’s a humanitarian crisis, but it is a crisis of his own creation. This is the direct consequence of President Obama’s lawlessness… We are seeing little boys and little girls coming across the border alone with hardened criminals because of the President’s lawlessness. Here are some basic facts that our friends in the mainstream media won’t share with you:

  • In 2011, just three years ago, there were roughly 6,000 unaccompanied children caught trying to cross the border.
  • Then in 2012, just a few months before the election, the President unilaterally and lawlessly granted amnesty to some 800,000 people who were here illegally who had come as children.
  • As a direct result, we saw the numbers skyrocket, so this year there are expected to be 90,000 unaccompanied children apprehended. That’s up from 6,000 just three years ago.
  • Next year there are expected to be roughly 150,000, and all of this is because President Obama has openly, brazenly refused to enforce the law.

“These children will not stop coming, and not stop being subjected to this horrific physical violence and sexual violence, unless and until this Administration begins enforcing our laws. As long as people believe they get amnesty, they will keep coming, and that is the opposite of a humane policy.

“As you noted, Jonathan Turley who was a liberal constitutional law professor who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 has testified to Congress that President Obama has become the embodiment of the imperial presidency; that Barack Obama has become the president that Richard Nixon always wanted to be,” Cruz said.

Video: Mayor of Murrieta Blasts Federal Gov For Keeping Him In The Dark About Immigration Influx

In interviews with the national media, Alan Long, the Mayor of Murrieta has been walking a fine line between political correctness and support for his alarmed residents, as the small Southern California city is besieged by busloads of illegal immigrant minors.

The media and the religious left would like to portray the protesters as xenophobic haters of brown people, and the busloads of illegal immigrant minors as refugees escaping sure death in their countries of origin.

Granted, the optics, of well heeled white people blocking buses filled with these unfortunate children, are not the best.

But  people are upset that without any warning what-so-ever –  a humanitarian crisis from Central America – with all the health hazards and cultural and economic degradation it entails –  has been dumped on their doorstep without any warning, explanation, or apologies. The optics of federal agents in riot gear pushing back peaceful protesters – as is expected later today – won’t be great, either.

The Mayor told FOX News that the federal government didn’t contact him before hundreds of illegal immigrant children were bussed in. Nor has he heard from the governor of California.

Via Gateway Pundit:

“We’re a very small town. It’s a bedroom community of about 106,000 and the air is clean and the people are beautiful… As far as we know, Murrieta is still a destination point. So we have every reason to expect more buses to arrive in Murrieta. Border patrol and Homeland Security have not answered any of those questions. We just anticipate more coming.

He said the local Border Patrol have been helpful, but not national Border Patrol and Homeland Security.

… At the national and the Department of Homeland Security, we have yet to hear from them with a short term and long term plan. So we’re really in the dark.”

Mayor Long explained what he perceives as the majority, middle ground position on the issue that “balances out lawlessness and compassion”: “Everyone wants a fair, efficient and legal process for these immigrants to come in,” he said. “You can’t just send them all over the country without proper health care, without proper screening. Some of them are really sick – they had to unload the bus as they came to Murrieta after traveling from Texas and take them to the emergency room. That’s just not humane or right.”

He blasted the Obama administration for knowing the influx was coming back in January, and doing nothing to prepare – and “all of a sudden the little town of Murrieta is supposed to take on the world’s problems and that’s just not right.”

CBS: Texas Official Believes Illegals Renting Kids To Cross Border:

With the oppressive summer heat “it’s going to be very, very dangerous in this part of the country to have young kids women and other folks to come in,” says Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-LaredoTX).

On Monday a South Texas sheriff announced the discovery of a 11 year old Guatemalan boys body about a mile from the border. Cuellar said the discovery of the boys body reinforces just how perilous the journey is into the US.

“Certainly I hope they stop coming because we probably will have more deaths as the hot weather continues,” says Cuellar. “It’s not just the heat that could kill them but there are other dangers. Officials at Lackland Air Force Base told us that one-third of young girls that come across – and they were just like little babies; 10, 11, 14 years of age. That about one third of them get raped and/or abused on the way here.”

Cuellar says that as he was speaking to Customs and Border Patrol agents he was also discovering a disturbing trend of adults “renting” children in Central America in order to increase their chances of being able to stay in the U.S. once they cross over.

Gateway Pundit: Must See Video>>> Black Americans in Murrieta Confront Pro-Illegal Immigrant Supporters:

A group of black Americans spoke out in support of protecting women and children in America BEFORE worrying about the rest of the world. This occurred at the Murrieta California Border Patrol Station on July 4th, 2014.

The young man pictured below said this:

“If somebody brought six children to your house and you ain’t got no job, are you going to take them in?… Are you going to try to find out where they came from? Are you going to try to send them back?… What are we going to do for the people who are here who are starving already?… Why would we add to the problem?”

:

The Revolutionary Communist Party, USA is just one among several left-wing radical groups that have flocked to the Murrieta protests to oppose local residents who are demonstrating against the transfer of illegal aliens to their community. One group of activists chanted “white supremacists out” and danced to drums last Friday as several shredded, and some upside-down, American flags were hoisted above the crowd.

 UPDATE:

Breitbart Texas: LEAKED INTERNAL DHS REPORT ADMITS LACK OF DEPORTATION SIGNIFICANT FACTOR IN BORDER CRISIS:

The report, identified as “De-Classified” and “Law Enforcement Sensitive,” reveals the fact that only 0.1 percent of the Central American minors illegally entering the U.S. having been deported in Fiscal Year 2013, down from two percent prior, plays a significant role in why the current border crisis is occurring. The DHS-ICE agency report admits the fact that 98 percent are allowed to stay is a significant draw for the minors to come into the United States. The agency acknowledges that conditions in Central America play a role in why the wave is occurring, but directly contradicts the assertion that such conditions are the only significant reason the crisis exists. The report directly contradicts any assertion U.S. government refusals to deport illegal immigrants is not a significant factor in why the crisis is occurring.

The report further reveals that Central American nations are doing little to curb the flow of illegal immigration to the U.S. and attributes the lack of efforts in the host nations to stop the flow to the nations wanting their nationals to send money back home from the United States. The report also indicates that family members from the host nations already residing in the U.S. is a major draw for the current crisis. This indicates that illegal aliens already within the U.S. are possibly drawing more to illegally migrate north.

Ace of Spades HQ: USAToday Reporter Calls Border Surge Obama’s “Katrina Moment”

The chaos just won’t stop.

MSNBC panelists on Monday seemed puzzled by the president’s refusal to visit the U.S.-Mexico border while he fundraises in Texas, with USA Today reporter Susan Page calling the decision Mr. Obama’s “Katrina moment.”
