Benghazi Annex Security Team Members Challenge Democrat Adam Schiff To A Debate (Video)

I’ve been meaning to get to this. It’s important.
Two members of the Benghazi Annex Security team who disobeyed stand down orders to rush to the sound of guns on 9/11/2012, joined Sean Hannity on Fox, Wednesday night, to talk about their new book,  “13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi.”
Mark Geist and Kris Paronto were asked by Hannity to respond to Democrat members of Congress who have essentially accused them of lying, asserting that the stand-down order was never given. This issue may be key to what exactly was going on that night and why they were there in the first place.. There is something very fishy about the Democrats’ refusal to admit the truth.
Congressmen Smith and  Schiff have both heard  closed door testimony in which the security team members made the same assertions about the stand down order, and yet in front of the cameras, they call it a Fox News conspiracy theory. Geist and Paronto would like for them to say that to their faces.
From the Hannity show rush transcript:
GEIST: They’re trying to play on words — no official stand-down…
KRIS “TANTO” PARONTO, BENGHAZI ANNEX SECURITY TEAM: No improper…
GEIST: … no improper stand-down…
PARONTO: It happened.
GEIST: I mean…
PARONTO: We were delayed. The stand-down — the words “stand down” were given and we were delayed (INAUDIBLE)
HANNITY: The words — the actual words “stand down” were given.
PARONTO: Yes. And John Tiegen Tigg (ph) has said that on multiple occasions…
HANNITY: The person that gave them.
PARONTO: Yes…
 ***
PARONTO: He was the one that received it. I received the two waits…
HANNITY: You wouldn’t — you wouldn’t possibly know where the — where it started from.
PARONTO: No. We know from our immediate chain of command, which was — which we say in the book is Bob.
HANNITY: Would he make that decision on his own, when he knows — you guys were listening to the communications at the consulate, right?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We were — yes. The distress calls, definitely.  Oh, yes.
HANNITY: And what finally pushed you over the top to disobey orders – – you disobeyed orders.
PARONTO: Yes, we did.
HANNITY: What finally pushed you to that point was you heard over the communications, If you don’t get here, we’re going to die. True?
(CROSSTALK)
PARONTO: … say that multiple — multiple times, yes, we did.
GEIST: Yes.
HANNITY: And you believe that people did die in the — in the 30 minutes, the interim…
(CROSSTALK)
PARONTO: And keep in mind, 30 minutes that we stood down, and it took us another 30 minutes to go on foot just to get there because their defenses were — they basically were able to reinforce their defenses. So it cost us 30 minutes just for the stand-down, but we don’t know how much longer it really cost us because we couldn’t drive all the way. We actually had to disembark and go the rest of the way on foot.
HANNITY: You know, there’s a lot of things — my kids, if they get in trouble, like every kid, you know, I’m fine with it. I can live with mistakes. All kids are going to make them. But when they lie to me, they’re in big trouble.
Now, my question is, they are — you’re telling us that these politicians that weren’t there, and you were there…
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.
HANNITY: … and you left your safe annex at the time and you went into the firefight at the time and you brought back 25 people, which makes, in my mind, you guys are heroes that night. And they’re calling you liars.  So I want to know, you know, what would you like — what do you want to do about that? I would be pretty pissed.
GEIST: I’d like to invite Mr. Schiff to a debate.
PARONTO: We could talk — and we can talk to him about it.
GEIST: We can talk about it.
PARONTO: We can discuss it.
GEIST: He wants to see and say that to my face, we can talk about it and talk about everything.
PARONTO: It’s difficult for me because you’re calling a Ranger, a SEAL and three Marine liars.
HANNITY: Two of the SEALs died.
PARONTO: Well, then you’ve got all — yes, and two of the SEALs did, and you also still have the one Jack (ph), the living SEAL. He’s still alive. We all — we all went, we all testified at one point, some point during the hipsy(ph), said the same thing we’re telling you now.
HANNITY: I’ll tell you what I’m going to do. I am willing to invite all of these Democrats…
PARONTO: Fine.
HANNITY: … that accused you two of lying on this program, and see – – I would be surprised if they’ll say it to your face. Let’s see if they have the guts to come on the program, gentlemen. You’ve accused American heroes of lying. Congressman Smith, Congressman Schiff, they’re invited on the program. We’re going to make calls first thing tomorrow and see if we get statements from their offices.
Have you been called — I’m watching the hearings today, and I’m thinking — all right, I read your book. Your account is so different.  You talk about stand-down orders they deny. You said there was no YouTube video connection. You said that there was no spontaneous demonstration, that this was a planned terror attack, right?
GEIST: That’s what it looked like, yes.
HANNITY: OK. And — but that’s — we heard a totally different story! Were the American people lied to, in your opinion?
PARONTO: If their — if it differs from what we said in the book and that same time, same account, I would say, yes, they have been.
HANNITY: Well, you heard almost from the beginning YouTube video, spontaneous demonstration. I don’t know many spontaneous demonstrations where you have RPGs in your pocket, do you?
GEIST: I would agree…
(CROSSTALK)
PARONTO: I haven’t seen any. I haven’t been in any, and I’ve been through a lot of demonstrations and a lot of…
GEIST: You don’t see them bring those things.
PARONTO: … a lot of protests. No, doesn’t happen.
GEIST: You know, I it to the readers and there listeners out there and the television viewers, just read the book. And you know, you’ll make your decision based on the information you have and what we say in the book because we were there, like you said.
PARONTO: And keep in mind, we quit our jobs. We resigned from working government work and contracts to do this. So it wasn’t that we wanted to sell books or we wanted — it got to us so badly that we actually got together as a team and said, Hey, you know what? This story’s getting spun way out of control. It’s either us standing up and telling the truth, or it’s just going to continue down that (INAUDIBLE)
HANNITY: So when you heard about the YouTube video, when you heard there was no stand-down order, when you heard a spontaneous demonstration and you were both there and you say this didn’t happen and you hear from the president, you hear from Susan Rice, you hear from Hillary Clinton, you hear from, I think Leon Panetta — they all said it. And you — so are you guys watching this on TV? And what are you thinking?
GEIST: I was laying in a bed, a hospital bed…
(CROSSTALK)
GEIST: … surgery in Germany. And there was a consul general from State Department and his wife right there. They could have asked, or — and any question they would have wanted about what happened there and gotten the truth from on the ground.
HANNITY: Why have you never been called to testify?
PARONTO: No, we have. We have gone in front of the House Intel subcommittee.
HANNITY: OK.
PARONTO: And we did tell them…
HANNITY: Behind closed doors?
PARONTO: Behind closed doors. Why our testimony wasn’t part of their findings, or maybe it was and they just decided not to listen to it, I don’t know. But we said the same thing to them as we’re telling you now on TV, as we wrote in the book. It has not changed.
HANNITY: All right, so what we’re going to do — I’m going to follow up with these congressmen, and we’re going to — hopefully, we’ll put you all in the same room…
PARONTO: OK.
HANNITY: … and we’ll hash this out because if they lied about men that were heroes that night, the country needs to know that. And if they want to call you a liar, I think they ought to do it to your face. They ought to have the character to do it to your face.
PARONTO: I would say so.
GEIST: I would — I agree with that 100 percent. Looking forward to it.
PARONTO: We’re OK with that, too. I’m OK with that.
HANNITY: All right. And what you did that night was amazing. You were there when Ty Woods died, too.
PARONTO: Yes.
GEIST: Yes, he was right beside me.
HANNITY: Right beside you. He died right in front of you.
GEIST: Yes.
PARONTO: Yes.
At some point the Select Committee on Benghazi is going to address this  little discrepancy. Democrats are still determined to shoot down Fox News’ two year old “Stand Down Order” scoop as a “conspiracy theory.” Dems in Congress know that if they just keep denying it happened even though the guys who were there on the ground on 9/11 say it did happen, the MSM will carry their water. There are probably conversations about this on left-wing “journo-lists” as we speak. Just keep denying. Call it a “conspiracy theory” propagated by ideologues trying to sell a book.
What are they trying to hide?

Senate Dems Block Cruz Bill to Stop Americans Who Join ISIS from Returning to US

Sen. Ted Cruz tried to get the Senate to consider a common sense measure Thursday morning that would strip Americans who join ISIS of their citizenship.

In the wake of the recent spate of ISIS beheadings, UK Prime Minister David Cameron did just that.

Via The Daily Mail:

He announced that police will be given the power to seize the passports of terror suspects trying to join jihadists fighting in Iraq and Syria.

He also revealed the Government was considering new powers to force jihadis living in the UK to relocate, while airlines will be compelled to hand over passenger lists before flights take off.

New laws will also be considered to prevent terrorists returning to ‘wreak havoc’ on the streets of Britain by removing their citizenship if they are fighting for ISIS abroad

You would think this would be a no brainer – especially in an election year –  but you would be wrong.

A Democratic senator from Hawaii objected to his bill, the Expatriate Terrorists Act of 2014, arguing that the Senate needs more time to weigh the significant constitutional issues it raises. Democrats are very concerned about trampling on the rights of the returning jihadis.

Via The Washington Times, Senator Hirono, D-Hawaii, blocked the bill.

Sen. Mazie Hirono, Hawaii Democrat, objected, saying the bill has not been brought before the Senate Judiciary Committee and it affects “fundamental constitutional rights, which should be given the full deliberation of the Senate.”

“Legislation that grants the government the ability to strip citizenship from Americans is a serious matter, raising significant constitutional issues,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Senate will be weighing Obama’s risky proposal to arm and train Syrian jihadis, Thursday afternoon.
Sen. Cruz spoke on the Senate floor this morning about his bill, discussed the rising threat of ISIS, and expressed his concerns with  Obama’s plans to arm the Free Syrian Army.

“All too often the Obama Administration proposals threaten to become embroiled in the midst of these political crises as, for example, they have made training and equipping the Free Syrian Army a cornerstone of their plan to fight ISIS.  But just this week the leader of the Free Syrian Army reportedly announced that he would not participate in the fight against ISIS unless we pledged to join in his fight against the Syrian dictator Bashir al Assad.”

“While this is certainly understandable from his perspective, resolving the Syrian civil war is not our mission nor the job of the military, and we should not be making the Free Syrian Army —whose focus is Assad—central to the American plan of defending our nation against the jihadist threat of ISIS.

“The administration’s ISIS policy is also marked by internal confusion that further demonstrates a lack of focus on what should be our clear mission.  The President has repeatedly insisted that there will be no American ‘boots on the ground’ in Iraq and Syria as he wants any action to be led by others—even while he increases US personnel in a country by a few hundred here and a few hundred there, and earlier this week his top general, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, admitted that there were circumstances under which he would change his advice to the President to recommending ground troops, a suggestion that was subsequently echoed by Chief of Staff of the Army and even Vice President Biden.

“The American people need and deserve greater clarity on what exactly our military mission is, and how what the President envisions relates to the advice his Department of Defense is giving him.

“The disconnect between what we know and what we do not know about the Americans fighting for ISIS in Iraq and Syria is equally concerning.  Estimates range from ‘about a dozen’ according to one Pentagon spokesman, to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel’s reassertion of about a hundred Americans fighting with ISIS in this week’s Armed Services Committee hearing.

“Either way, Secretary Hagel agreed with my characterization of the risks posed that Americans will take  U.S. passports, after fighting with ISIS, after training with ISIS, to come back And commit unspeakable acts of terror here at home. Secretary Hagel agreed that risk was significant.

“It seems only prudent to address this threat, and I am therefore going to be asking for unanimous consent for the Expatriate Terrorist Act or ETA of 2014, which will make fighting for ISIS, taking up arms against the United States, an affirmative renunciation of American citizenship—and I should note here that the ETA is very similar to the bipartisan legislation proposed by Senators Joe Lieberman and Scott Brown in 2010 to address Americans who were joining al Qaida overseas, notably the radical cleric Anwar al Awlaki, or here at home, like Faisal Shahzad, who attempted to blow up a car bomb in Times Square.

“The ETA thus has applicability beyond the immediate threat of ISIS, it is an important adjustment to our existing laws governing the renunciation of citizenship to reflect the threat posed by non-nation terrorist groups.  As then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said concerning the Lieberman-Brown legislation, ‘United States citizenship is a privilege.  It is not a right. People who are serving foreign powers — or in this case, foreign terrorists — are clearly in violation…of that oath which they swore when they became citizens.’

“The Expatriate Terrorist Act of 2014 is only a very modest change to current law, it’s one small step in a larger and necessary effort to re-focus our ISIS strategy that I urge President Obama to consider immediately.”

The Watcher’s Council Weasel Of The Week!!

goldenweasel-award2

Fanfare!! It’s time It’s time to present this weeks’ statuette of shame, The Golden Weasel!!

Every Tuesday, the Council nominates some of the slimiest, most despicable characters in public life for some deed of evil, cowardice or corruption they’ve performed. Then we vote to single out one particular Weasel for special mention, to whom we award the statuette of shame, our special, 100% plastic Golden Weasel. This weeks’ nominees were all certainly deserving, but one stood out this week as the overwhelming winner..

Yes, it’s Maxine ‘No Justice No Peace’ Waters, Democrat Congresswoman from Crazyfornia!

maxine-waters1

The Independent Sentinel : For telling the Council of Pakistan Affairs and Islamic Society of Orange County that Sharia Law is compatible with the U.S. Constitution and for telling them that anyone who disagrees is a bigot.

So much for free speech and the right to dissent.

While Ms. Waters certainly deserves the award for this bit o’ bigotry, (can you imagine how she’d look in a burka and niquab) this is really something of a career  achievement award.

She represents California’s 43rd congressional district, which is centered in South Central Los Angeles and includes Inglewood, Hawthorne, and parts of Carson and Torrance (shsssh! She doesn’t live in the District, but in upscale Hancock Park).

She got her nickname from leading chants during the 1992 Rodney King riots, which she insisted should be called a ‘rebellion’ rather than a riot. She described the violence in which 58 people were killed as  “a spontaneous reaction to a lot of injustice.” And speaking of injustice, when she was asked about the wide spread looting of Korean owned businesses, she shrugged it off, saying “There were mothers who took this as an opportunity to take some milk, to take some bread, to take some shoes… They are not crooks.”

Ms. Waters also has a fond spot in her heart for commie dictator Fidel Castro,  whom she thanked for – wait for it –  providing help to those who needed to “flee political persecution.”

I have a feeling Congresswoman Waters never toured Fidel’s gulag on the Isle of Pines.

One of the people she was referring to was black ‘activist’ Assata Shakur, and in 1998, Waters wrote a letter to Fidel Castro asking him not to extradite Shakur. This was in spite of the fact that Shakur is an escaped convicted murderer, a former member of the Black Panther Party and The Black Liberation Army, and is classified by the FBI with good reason as a domestic terrorist.

On the other hand, you can’t say she’s not consistent. As a prominent member of the Congressional Black Caucus she put major pressure on President Clinton in 1999 to ship 6-year-old Elian Gonzales back to Castro’s Cuba.

Economics? Of course! Remember this?

“This liberal would be about socializing … uh, umm. … Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.”

Hey, socialism and ‘justified’ theft is good when it comes to whitey and them Ko-reans, right! And do I have to tell you she favors reparations for slavery, and co-authored a bill to mandate it with Senator John Conyers (D-MI)? Or that she was a major force in helping to KO any oversight of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae when the Bush Administration attempted to institute it?

Of course, let’s not get the wrong idea. Ms. Waters is actually pretty savvy when it comes to finance. Her own, at least.

Chuck Neubauer and Ted Rohrlich wrote a major piece in the LA Times in 2004 to the effect that Maxine Waters’ relatives had made more than $1 million during the preceding eight years by doing business with companies, candidates and causes that Waters had direct influence over because of her position in congress. They claimed she and her husband helped a company get government bond business, and that her daughter Karen Waters and son Edward Waters have profited from her connections. Waters reply? “They do their business and I do mine.”

Oh, indeed she does!

She also holds the distinction of being named one of the 14 most corrupt members of congress by Business Insider in 2011. Considering whom else was in congress at that time, this was and is a major achievement. She’s a superstar.

F’rinstence, back in September of 2008, Waters lobbied for TARP funds for OneUnited Bank, because she claimed it was part of an association of minority controlled banks. This happened when she was on the Financial Services Committee and had a voice in determining where TARP funds would go.

Waters’ husband Sidney Williams just happened to have been a board member of OneUnited, and was and still is a stockholder.

Part of her lobbying efforts involved arranging personal meetings with her husband and Treasury Department officials without ever disclosing her personal financial interest. OneUnited ended up with a healthy taxpayer bailout of $12 million.

Thyen Waters was brought up on Ethics charges, largely because another part of her lobbying involved chairperson Barney Frank and he needed to cover his own capacious behind.

Having a choice between a trial in the House or pleading guilty, Waters was savvy enough to choose a ‘trial’ knowing that (a) after seeing the wrist slap her fellow BCC compadre Charley Rangel got for doing far worse, even if she was found guilty it wouldn’t amount to much and (b)the Democrat dominated House wasn’t going to push too hard to prove charges against a prominent member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and they would likely stonewall and drop the charges before the newly elected GOP house was seated in January of 2011.

Which is exactly what happened.

For racism, outsize nastiness, hypocrisy and sheer grasping corruption, Maxine Waters richly deserves her Golden Weasel. She’s literally one of the best weasels to be found in the parasitical halls of government. Accept it and all that goes with it, congresswoman.

Make sure to tune in every Monday for the Watcher’s Forum. and every  Tuesday morning, when we reveal the weeks’ nominees for Weasel of the Week!

And remember, every Wednesday, the Council has its weekly contest with the members nominating two posts each, one written by themselves and one written by someone from outside the group for consideration by the whole Council. The votes are cast by the Council, and the results are posted on Friday morning.

It’s a weekly magazine of some of the best stuff written in the blogosphere, andyou won’t want to miss it...or any of the other fantabulous Watcher’s Council content.
