“Straight White Guy Festival” Jest Upsets Diversity Police

“Come help us celebrate our enjoyment of being straight, white, and male,” the flier said. “Beer available.”

When some fake fliers advertising an upcoming “Straight White Guy festival” appeared in an Ohio town, last summer,  some humor-impaired individuals didn’t appreciate the humor or even get that it was a joke.

“This kind of thing implies there’s some kind of struggle going on for being a straight white person in Ohio,” one area resident sniffed.  “Straight white people are doing just fine.”

Hurrumph!

The leader of an organization pushing same-sex marriage whined that “the flyer is not productive.”  Thankfully, the situation provided an opportunity for a “teaching moment.”

Listen up, you knuckle draggers.

Via 10-tv.com:

“I think it detracts from the real problems of Ohio that need to be solved, that are being denied their constitutional rights because of who they are, or who the love. And that’s what we really need to work on and this is just kind of a distraction,” he added.

I’d say that whoever did this bad thing has been properly chastised. Shame on them and their white/straight/male privilege.

If the diversity police ever finds out who did the dastardly deed, they’ll publish his name and address on left-wing message boards so he and his family can be properly harassed. Then, they’ll call his employer and try to get him fired. Nice, tolerant citizens that they are.

A couple of thought criminals were interviewed for the story:

“I think it’s funny. If they want to do this, great, freedom of expression,” said Cheralyn Elkins.

“It doesn’t offend me personally,” added Collin Brubaker. “But I can think of people it would offend.”

I hope those two survived the wrath of the perpetually outraged.

The Federalist: Gay Marriage: No One Expects the Secular Inquisition:

Personally, I have no problem with gay people getting hitched, having weddings, and saying that they are “married.” I don’t have any religious objection, on account of not being religious, nor do I think gay marriages, given their very small numbers, will have any particular impact on the state of marriage as an important social institution. (Which, alas, has all sorts of problems of its own.)

But the test of liberty isn’t what happens to people who agree with the intent of a particular edict. The test is what happens to people who disagree.

That brings us to the reason why gay rights advocates insisted on the government granting same-sex unions the title of “marriage.” The theory behind this was that homosexuals suffer from a lack of social acceptance, and gay marriage would put the government’s imprimatur on their status as social equals—along with the promise that this equality is to be backed by government force.

The theory behind gay marriage, in short, was the theory behind the entire secular left: society and the state are the all-powerful forces on which the life of the individual depends, and the most important political task—indeed, the most important task in life—is getting this irresistible power on your side. Once you gain social and political power, you hold on to it by making your preferred views mandatory, a catechism everyone must affirm, while suppressing all heretical views. In this case, to gain social acceptance of homosexuality, you make the affirmation of gay marriages mandatory while officially suppressing any dissenting religious views.

Hence, the Secular Inquisition, which we should have expected all along.

  1. If it’s politically incorrect, count me in.I am so tired of the whiny liberals, complaining about everything, that doesn’t represent, their socialist Communist value system. When somebody tells me I am not being politically correct, I let them know in no uncertain terms, that my destiny is to be politically incorrect, that ends the discussion real quickly!
