President No-Show will host an “anti-violent-extremism” summit next month. This will be worse than useless, because not only is Obama determined not to name the enemy that actually threatens us, thus not diagnosing the problem and making no headway toward solving it. But he will be tempted to name phantom “enemies” that pose no threat to anyone – just to be fair.
“On February 18, 2015, the White House will host a Summit on Countering Violent Extremism to highlight domestic and international efforts to prevent violent extremists and their supporters from radicalizing, recruiting, or inspiring individuals or groups in the United States and abroad to commit acts of violence, efforts made even more imperative in light of recent, tragic attacks in Ottawa, Sydney, and Paris,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.
If you think that Obama won’t use this as an opportunity crack down on conservative religious groups, you haven’t been paying attention for the past 6 years.
Recall how Obama in early 2013 had the Department of Defense counting Catholics, evangelicals and Mormons as religious extremists alongside Hamas and al Qaeda.
A U.S. Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief describes “Evangelical Christianity” and “Catholicism” as examples of “religious extremism,” according to the Archdiocese for the Military Services and the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, who shared a copy of the documents with The Christian Post.
“The number of hate groups, extremists and anti‐govt organizations in the U.S. has continued to grow over the past three years, according to reports by the Southern Poverty Law Center. They increased to 1,018 in 2011, up from 1,002 in 2010 and 602 in 2000,” reads the first page of the slide presentation labeled “Extremism & Extremist Organizations.”
Listed alongside “extremist” groups and organizations like the Klu Klux Klan and al-Qaida, the U.S. Army slideshow has “Evangelical Christianity” as the first bullet, followed by the Muslim Brotherhood, Ultra-Orthodox Judaism and farther down on the slide, Catholicism.
Forgot to mention “Islamophobia.” Fear of Muslim extremists is extremist, you guys.
Our government is on bath salts.
