Report: Jeb Bush Bussed Supporters into #CPAC2015 to Cheer Him

IMG_0742

Around mid-day Friday when dozens of people started streaming into the Potomac Ballroom at CPAC,  I assumed that it was in anticipation of Rand Paul’s speech. There are always a lot of young Republicans/Libertarians at CPAC and they love the Pauls. But what I was witnessing possibly, was the arrival of the Bush Brigades.

Slate reported, via Gateway Pundit,

It sounds like Jeb Bush’s supporters are taking CPAC pretty seriously this year. Emails provided to Slate show that backers of the former Florida governor are busing supporters from downtown Washington D.C. to CPAC in National Harbor, Maryland, and organizing to get them day passes into the event.

One of the emails that went out this morning was from Fritz Brogan, a former advance man for then-President George W. Bush who (per the Washington Post) co-hosted a fundraiser for Jeb’s Right to Rise PAC earlier this month. A Bush insider confirmed to Slate that Bush’s Right to Rise PAC is helping organize the transportation.

“We strongly recommend arriving as early as possible to get a seat,” wrote Brogan in an email sent to undisclosed recipients. “Our ‘Early Rise’ team will be there at 7:30am onward helping reserve seats- if you want to join the early team, let me know.”

During Sean Hannity’s talk, Friday morning, he conducted an impromptu straw poll by calling out the names of all of the candidates, and encouraging their supporters to applaud. Judging from the huge ovation Rand Paul received, he was the top choice.  Scott Walker came in a close second. But the names Chris Christie and Jeb Bush when called out by Hannity, inspired nothing but loud boos.

By Jeb Bush’s speech at around 2:00 in the afternoon, the room had filled with Jeb Bush supporters and had been transformed into a pro-Bush venue.

Here’s Jeb’s speech. It wasn’t half bad to be honest.

CPAC 2015: Dr. Sebastian Gorka: ‘ISIS is a Proto-State’

Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a counterinsurgency and counterterrorism expert who teaches at the National Defense University, spoke convincingly on the threats posed by the Islamic State at a CPAC panel, Friday called, “Lowering the Boom, When to Stand Up To Rogue Nations. Also on the panel, were Andy McCArthy, former Asst. US Attorney, Peter Brookes, the Heritage Foundation, and Gary Johnson, the libertarian former governor of NM who was on hand to offer his counter points.

“ISIS now holds territory in excess of the landmass of Great Britain. That means, it is not just a terrorist group with training camps,” Gorka explained. “It is a proto-state.”

He continued that ISIS is the “richest threat group in modern history” after robbing the Iraqi national bank twice and getting away with $823 million dollars.

Dr. Gorka noted that according to the 9/11 report,  the entire cost of that terror event cost al Qaeda $500,000.

“That means ISIS has enough money from those two raids for 1,600 9/11s should it wish to turn its guns against us,” he warned. “And that is without the $3 million dollars it makes per day in illicit oil sales.”

Gorka said, ISIS is the most successful Jihadist terrorist group in terms of recruitment.

“The recruitment power of ISIS is staggering. They have recruited 14,000 foreign fighters,” he said pointing out that by foreign he means, “Brits, Australians, Americans and Germans.”

Gorka said ISIS understands social media in a way that al Qaeda never did, and recommended that every tax payer and every lover of Democracy watch their videos in their entirety.

“When you see another human being take seven minutes to sever another man’s head because he was a Christian, then you’ll understand the nature of the war we are in.”

There have been over a million  Christians killed our hounded out of Iraq since 2003 when there were one million, 400 thousand Christians in Iraq. There are now less than 200,000 left. “That is a genocide against Christians on our watch,” he said.

He went on to note that we are at war with a global jihadist movement that will take generations to win. And it won’t be won without US involvement.

“Isolation and non intervention will not stop a 9/11 ISIS attack,” Gorka concluded.

The Council Has Spoken!! Our Watcher’s Council Results

https://i0.wp.com/www.crystalinks.com/druids_stonehenge.jpg

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast, and the results are in for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up.

“Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne’er within him burn’d,
As home his footsteps he hath turn’d
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonour’d, and unsung. “
-Sir Walter Scott

Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory. – General George S. Patton

I was only the servant of my country and had I, at any moment, failed to express her unflinching resolve to fight and conquer, I should at once have been rightly cast aside. – Sir Winston Churchill

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

This week’s winning essay,Joshuapundit’s Is President Obama A Christian? Does He Love America? was my reaction to the question raised by former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani and the media meltdown that followed. Here’s a slice:

Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani created a press-fueled tempest in a teapot when he raised those issues at a private dinner. As you know, only Democrats and Leftists are entitled to  private conversations and secrecy even the Mafia would envy. And of course, to the freedom to express their opinions  no matter how bat sh*t crazy they are. Rudy Giuliani obviously doesn’t qualify for that kind of protection.

Of course the press leaped on this. The current administration and its minions are free to refer to ‘right wing Tea Partiers’ as  terrorists and to deride a serving US General commanding a combat operation as ‘General Betray Us’ in the New York Times,  but again, the rule for Democrats and the Left is that you may never question  their patriotism under any circumstances, no matter what they say or do.

Having pretty much struck out trying to smear GOP front runner Governor Scott Walker for not undergoing four years or more of Leftist indoctrination at someplace like Harvard, Yale, Columbia or Princeton, the Obama media decided to grab at another straw and make a point of asking Governor Walker if he thought this president was a Christian.

His quite sensible reply was that he didn’t know, and as Byron York pointed out, a fair amount of Americans don’t know either. I suppose it all depends on whether you consider Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church with its radical politics and its  anti-Semitic and racialist overtones ‘Christian.’  Or whether you’re confused about a president who defends Islam and Islamists at every turn while dissing Christianity and standing by and doing nothing while Christians are being  ethnically cleansed from the Middle East by those peaceful Islamists.

But at any rate, the only way to know for sure would be to look inside this president’s head and heart, and Walker was astute in simply saying he wasn’t going to attempt that.

Now, does this president love America? Again, like the question about Christianity, it all depends on what your definition of loving America is.

In his memoir about his time as Secretary of Defense in the Bush and Obama Administrations, Robert Gates chronicled his struggle to contain his rage as former Democrat Senators and 2008 presidential candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden chuckled to Gates about how their efforts during the second Bush administration to sabotage America’s war effort in Iraq and the Surge in particular while our troops were under fire were ‘hah hah, just politics, ho ho.’ As Gates related, these efforts along with their calculated attempts to insult and emasculate its commander General Petraeus literally cost American lives.

Now again, some people are going to say ‘what difference does it make?’ Others would be outraged at this and a lot of other things that have happened in this administration.

So you see, it all depends on your point of view.

But walk with me a minute.

Let’s say, just for giggles, we elected a president who actually didn’t love the country, but whose agenda could more accurately be described in one word – payback.

How would such a president behave?

Much more at the link.

In our non-Council category, the winner was the one and only Mark Steyn
with Oh Beautiful For Specious Guys submitted by The Noisy Room.

Steyn exercises his usual mastery at getting to the heart of the matter, in this case the Obama Administration’s craven response to violent, radical Islamism uhhh, ‘violent extremism’ that dares not speak its name. A must read.

Here are this week’s full results. Only the Right Planet was unable to vote this week, but was not subject to the usual 2/3 vote penalty for not voting:

#CPAC2015 Full Ted Cruz Speech Blasting Hillary + Hannity Q&A

“God bless CPAC!”  Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) hollered as he took the stage.  “There’s not a single Democrat , here. It’s almost like CPAC invited Benjamin Netanyahu to speak.”

He took a shot at Hillary, saying  CPAC could have had her at the conference but “couldn’t find a foreign nation to foot the bill.”

Cruz said that the way to win the presidency is to use  “all three legs of the proverbial Republican stool.”

He continued, “we bring together conservatives, and libertarians, and evangelicals, and women, and young people, ans Hispanics and Reagan Democrats.”

The Texas Senator explained that the way to do that is to stand with the people – and not Washington – a message he’s repeated time again.

Following his speech, there was a brief question and answer period with Fox News’ Sean Hannity

Dr. Ben Carson’s Full #CPAC2015 Speech

Former pediatric neurosurgeon and possible 2016 presidential contender Dr. Ben Carson kicked off CPAC 2015 with a speech calling for end to government dependency.

“We need to understand what true compassion is to reach out to individuals who think that being dependent is reasonable as long as they feel safe,” Carson said. “It’s not compassion to pat them on the head and say ‘there, there, I’m going to take care of all your needs, your healthcare, your food.’ That’s the opposite of compassion.”

“I’m not interested in getting rid of a safety net, I’m interested in getting rid of dependency.” Carson said to much applause.
