Awkward and Mortifying: Lurch In Paris

proxy (1)

How badly did the Obama administration fumble this week? So bad that the always awkward Lurch was dispatched to France to set things “right.” God help us.

Awkward doesn’t even begin to describe this, via The Daily Mail: He gave France a hug… and a kiss… and a VERY awkward rendition of ‘You’ve Got a Friend’: Grovelling Kerry cuddles up to Hollande and even flies in James Taylor to make up for terror march snub:

A grovelling John Kerry hugged and kissed French president Francois Hollande in a show of contrition after nobody important from the White House joined a solidarity march in the wake of the terror attack on Paris.

The Secretary of State even brought back-up for his visit in the form of singer James Taylor, who patched up the United States’s oldest diplomatic relationship with a rendition of ‘You’ve got a friend’.

Arriving at the presidential Elysée Palace, Kerry reached out his hands for Hollande, embraced him closely, then appeared to kiss him on the cheek.

Could this administration be any more mortifying?

Reactions from aghast Twitter users were swift.

Oops, Our Bad! State Dept Apologizes For Promoting Muslim Cleric Who Backed Killing of U.S. Soldiers

MUSLIM SCHOLAR

Can the State Department under Obama and Kerry become any more corrupt, incompetent and embarrassing? This Islamist A-hole only advocated killing American troops. Hey, let’s give him a medal.

Via the Washington Free Beacon:

The State Department’s Counter Terrorism (CT) Bureau apologized on Tuesday for promoting a controversial Muslim scholar whose organization has reportedly backed Hamas and endorsed a fatwa authorizing the murder of U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

The apology came on the heels of a Friday Washington Free Beacon report detailing the CT Bureau’s promotion of Sheik Abdallah Bin Bayyah, the vice president of a radical Muslim scholars group that was founded by a radical Muslim Brotherhood leader who has called “for the death of Jews and Americans.”

Bin Bayyah himself is one of several clerics who endorsed a 2004 fatwa, or religious order, endorsing the killing of U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq.

The CT Bureau apologized multiple times on Tuesday for tweeting in favor of Bin Bayyah and promoting an article on his website.

“This should not have been tweeted and has since been deleted,” the CT Bureau tweeted at users who expressed anger over the original message.

“It was wrong and should not have been tweeted,” the bureau later tweeted in response to other outraged individuals.

So does the State Dept Counter Terrorism Bureau have a  Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer (or perhaps member!) doing its social media? Or are they just so unbelievably incompetent that they don’t bother to vet the people they promote?

Charles Krauthammer Concurs With Senator Cruz – John Kerry Should Resign (Video)

On Monday’s “Special Report” on Fox News,  Charles Krauthammer called on Secretary of State John Kerry to resign for the obnoxious remarks he had madethat were reported by Josh Rogin of The Daily Beast suggesting Israel could become “an apartheid state.”

“It’s beyond nonsense,” Krauthammer said. “It’s pernicious and extremely harmful. What the Secretary of State of the United States has succeeded in doing in what he thought was a private comment is to echo and therefore to legitimize the worst of the libelous claims against the Jewish state. If there is one minority in the Middle East that enjoys the rule of law and protection and democracy it is Arabs in Israel. One out of every five Israelis is a Palestinian, overwhelming they are Muslim. There are Arabs in the government, in the Supreme Court, in all walks of life, in the universities.”

“There’s actually affirmative action if you are a Palestinian in the universities,” he added. “And to compare that in any way with the systematic discrimination against black Africans in South Africa is truly appalling and hurtful. I think Cruz is right. This is beyond something requiring an apology. I think this is a resigning-type statement. This is an injury to an ally that will echo because it will be repeated, and people will saying, ‘I’m not saying this, it is the Secretary of State of the United States.’ It is untrue. It is pernicious and it’s truly something that demands at the very least an immediate apology.”

Some Republican candidates rubuked Kerry’s comments on Twitter:
Terri Lynn Land is running for the US Senate in MI:

And Joni Ernst is running for the US Senate in Iowa:

UPDATE:

Twitchy: ‘If I could rewind the tape’: John Kerry clarifies ‘apartheid’ remark:

“I want to see a two state solution that results in a secure Jewish state and a prosperous Palestinian state, and I’ve actually worked for it,” wrote Kerry. “I will not allow my commitment to Israel to be questioned by anyone, particularly for partisan, political purposes.”

This is awesome:

Krauthammer: Killing Coal is a ‘Losing Proposition For The Country and For Democrats’ (Video)

Climate change may be very low on the list of issues that are important to most Americans, but to Sec. of State John Kerry (who served in Vietnam),  it is “among the world’s biggest problems”,  “as big a threat as terrorism, poverty, WMDs”, and  ‘Perhaps The World’s Most Fearsome Weapon Of Mass Destruction.’

Lurch was in Indonesia Monday, warning the impoverished Indonesian citizens that climate change could threaten their “entire way of life” as he pushed for the world to do more to stop global warming.

On Monday night’s Special Report, the panel talked about the Regime’s latest Global Warming fear-mongering and the political implications of Obama’s  economy crushing green policies.

Krauthammer disputed the idea that Climate Change is “settled science” and correctly called the ideology behind it, a matter of theology to the left. The panel agreed that the Regime’s big climate change push was a risky proposition for Democrats.

Dr. K. concluded, “killing coal is not going to help Democrats in Kentucky. So this is a losing proposition for the country, and Democrats.”

Powerline: JAKARTA JAPES:

For those who lack a rooting interest in the United States, American foreign policy has become a joke. We are fools who appear to lack the most elementary ability to distinguish friend from enemy. Functionally speaking, we’ve gone over to the other side — “the other side” being the side of our enemies. Those who wish us ill — both at home and abroad — have a friend in John Kerry, speaking yesterday in Jakarta.

The Year of Living Dangerously was set in Jakarta, was it not? That works too. From the detached point of view, however, we’re living comically in the Age of Obama.

Powerline: KERRY ON, DUDE:

I see Scott has already commented on this story, but here’s my 2 cents worth, too:

Let’s see if I’ve got this straight: Secretary of State John Kerry, owner of five multi-million dollar mansions along with a luxury yacht, has seen fit to lecture Indonesians (average income in 2012: $3,420) about why global warming climate change is “perhaps the world’s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction.”

Powerline: JOHN KERRY, SLOW LEARNER:

We are ganging up on John Kerry this morning. Here’s the thing–Kerry has a number of problems, but the most basic is that he isn’t very bright. He doesn’t have a high enough IQ for difficult work. As a senator, he hid his incapacity by ignoring virtually all of his job duties. As Secretary of State, his ineptitude–one might say shocking ineptitude, if this were not the Obama administration–is being exposed.
