Earth Day 2014 News Round-Up

EarthDayGraphic via Scotty’s Dreamworld

The moonbats are out in full force to celebrate “Earth Day” today. There are all sorts of events planned jam packed with the sort of symbolic feel-goodism  liberals adore. A whopping 18% of the American people say they plan to “celebrate” Earth Day, this year.

NASA even took some time out from their Muslim outreach duties to promote the importance of “climate change” (I like to call it “weather”) with #GlobalSelfies so libs can take pictures of themselves caring more about the earth than you do.

Via Twitchy:

People are actually doing this.

Of course, NASA had to weigh in on “Climate Change” (weather):

Via Sooper Mexican, here are some  fun facts about the day:

Did you know that Earth Day started in 1970 on the 100th anniversary of  Lenin’s birthday? Neat, huh?

Earth Day was co-founded by a murderous degenerate named Ira Einhorn who bashed his girlfriend’s head in and hid her body in a trunk while she was still alive. There she stayed for the next 18 months until her her rotting corpse was discovered by the police. He is known as “the Unicorn Killer” because Einhorn means unicorn in German. He fled to Europe and was convicted 25 years later for her murder in 2002 and is serving a life sentence.

Oh – and none of the original Earth Day predictions have come true.

Via John Gabriel at Ricochet, here are the 13 Most Ridiculous Predictions Made on Earth Day, 1970:

Today is Earth Day — an annual event first launched on April 22, 1970. The inaugural festivities (organized in part by then hippie and now convicted murderer Ira Einhorn) predicted death, destruction and disease unless we did exactly as progressives commanded. Sound familiar? Behold the coming apocalypse, as predicted on and around Earth Day, 1970:

  1. “Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”  — Harvard biologist George Wald
  2. “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation.” — Washington University biologist Barry Commoner
  3. “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.” — New York Times editorial
  4. “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” — Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich

Via The Conversation: EPA ‘Jetting Around the Country’ for Week-Long Earth Day Tour

Administrator McCarthy will undertake a greenhouse gas laden week-long tour that will “far exceed” any benefit from her climate change proselytizing.

“Frenetically jetting around the country appears to undercut [the] EPA’s message to ordinary Americans that they should conserve, consume less and reduce transportation pollution,” PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch said in a statement.

McCarthy will be participating in “various events to…focus on responsible steps to cut carbon pollution to slow the effects of climate change” in New York, Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta and Memphis.

Some activities on the tour were called into question.

Ruch noted that some events on McCarthy’s itinerary have questionable ties to promoting climate action, such as joining Energy Secretary Moniz to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Tuesday’s Red Sox vs. Yankees baseball game at Boston’s Fenway Park.

There’s some sort of Pow-wow going on at the National Mall in Washington DC to protest the Keystone Pipeline. As you can see, it’s lightly attended, I’m guessing because even most moonbats know Obama’s already decided against it – and has just kicked the can down the road again to the mitigate political damage to vulnerable Dems. But for some people, it’s still worth the effort just so they show everyone how much they care about the environment, you guys!

BUSTED: Racist At Pro- Zimmerman Rally I.D.’d As Left-Wing Activist (Updated)

On Saturday, conservatives held a pro-Zimmerman rally to counter the New Black Panther “Justice for Trayvon” march in Houston. Breitbart’s Brandon Darby reported that the police did a good job keeping the two sides apart, but one person on the NBPP side did manage to mingle with the pro-Zimmerman side. (*see update)

Seriously,  AP/ New York Daily Newsyou  found nothing suspicious about this woman?

racist-proud-plant.jpg.pagespeed.ic.WSQN4eNot9

Via Gateway PunditThe Houston Chronicle identified her as Renee Vaughan:

One woman in the Zimmerman group held a sign that said, “We’re racist & proud.”

Austin resident Renee Vaughan echoed the sign’s ugly sentiments by yelling, “We’re racist. We’re proud. We’re better because we’re white,” at the Martin group as they passed, according to the Chronicle.

Because racists typically self identify that way – “We’re Racist and we’re proud! We’re better than you because we’re white!”  Happens all the time.

Since you can’t expect reporters at the AP, NY Daily News or Houston Chronicle to actually have working B.S. detectors, citizen journalists like Kristinn Taylor  have to do the job of smoking out this left-wing moonbat infiltrator.

Scanning the internet we found that a “Renee Vaughn” from Austin worked for a far left environmental group, the Texas Campaign for the Environment.

youtube

Renee even has her photo linked to a far left environmental website.

rachel-vaughan.jpg.pagespeed.ic.fQlo-0CpP7 (1)

There are also plenty of pictures of Renee at the Texas Campaign for the Environment Facebook page.
What do you know – here’s one of her wearing those awesome, pink cat-eye sunglasses!

racist moonbat

Yup, that’s her, alright.

Man, it takes a special kind of stupid to hold up a sign professing to be a racist, and then tell reporters your real name. But that appears to be what happened, here.

Spread this…Unfortunately, that fraudulent picture went viral worldwide.  We can only correct the record by spreading the truth.

UPDATE:

Breitbart New’s Brandon Darby interviewed Vaughan.  He notes that she was located on the Trayvon Martin/New Black Panther Party-supporting side of the demonstration  It turns out that she was sarcastically trying to make a point about what she perceives to be white racism in the pro-Zimmerman crowd – but reporters everywhere took her seriously..

I was present in Houston and personally saw the woman holding the sign. She was attending the event with a fellow anti-Zimmerman demonstrator who was wearing a hoodie. I interviewed her and took this footage:

So what we have here is a total lack of critical thinking skills on her part (equating support for Zimmerman with racism) and the media (uncritically accepting the “too good to check” story.)

MORE:

The Houston Chronicle’s Jayme Fraser may have  changed the text of her article from  ‘One woman in the Zimmerman group held a sign that said, “We’re racist & proud.” Austin resident Renee Vaughan echoed the sign’s ugly sentiments by yelling, “We’re racist. We’re proud. We’re better because we’re white” (via Gateway Pundit.)

to

“At one point, Renee Vaughan of Austin mocked protesters by chanting, “We’re racist. We’re proud. We’re better ’cause we’re white.”  (via Big Journalism.)

The New York Daily News  also excerpted the line, attributing it to the Chronicle:

Austin resident Renee Vaughan echoed the sign’s ugly sentiments by yelling, “We’re racist. We’re proud. We’re better because we’re white,” at the Martin group as they passed, according to the Chronicle.

What I’d like to know if if Fraser was just being sloppy, or maliciously disseminating a smear, or if the Daily News just misreported the whole thing.

Brandon Darby is of the opinion that The Daily News significantly distorted the Chronicle story. I’ve emailed Fraser to find out and will update if I hear back.

Who Owns May Day?

The once innocent placing of May Day baskets and the celebration of Spring  has been secreted away only to be replaced by events for every wannabe occupy group from Oakland to NYC and beyond .  What is the attraction to May Day? While it is a holiday in other countries and the communist worker’s day,  groups here are trying to use May Day to revitalize the occupy passion again after it fizzled out in a slow degradation of health and safety issues at most encampments.

A sampling of posters and event schedules suggests that anyone can claim the day; immigrant rights, gay rights, free education, labor unions, anti corporate greed, anti Wall Street greed. Some roll it into a more enigmatic phrase, 99% Spring. Most art or graffiti is a call to return to the glory of the camp. All agree that no one should work, shop, attend school or have fun.  That’s what they’ve  always had in common anyway. Emphasis this year is put on students and teachers to abandon school, or better yet,  bring the whole class to Occupy.

“No single day, park, or effort can contain our vision; instead, we propose and will struggle to make all our universities places of free education, inquiry, and access to knowledge for all. We demand that our society put forward the necessary resources to provide such an education for all”.

Not all posters claim May Day peace and love. There are always the unspecified threats from Anonymous seen in this depiction.

” …official websites announce plans to “occupy” Manhattan-bound bridges and tunnels as well as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco Tuesday. Besides street protests, sympathizers are asked to engage in a U.S. general strike to “shut it down,” referring to the country’s economy”.

Some posters display weapons or torching.  The headless cop is by far the most provocative. Many advocate picket lines, sit-ins, road blocks, and shut downs, the usual fare.  Seattle is bracing for violence cited in the Mayor’s press release.  LA activists claim they will shut down the flow of capital.

SEIU will be right in the middle again but will disavow any knowledge of property damage or violence. Expect the police to be blamed if people get hurt.

Of course, there will be drum circles and after parties.

#OWS Protesters Plan Direct Actions Thursday To “Take Down Wall Street, Subways, Foley Park, and Times Square”; Unions Plan To Shut Down US Bridges (UPDATED- Will Storm Wall Street in Business Suits)

#Occupy activists on Wall Street are going ahead with the much proclaimed International Day of Action threatening to take down Wall Street, subways, Foley Park, and Times Square. The official OWS site encourages other OWS encampments and groups to take similar action. A breakfast on Wall Street, and a luncheon on various key subway platforms. Sounds lovely. BTW, it’s another peaceful event touted as a celebration. The whole world’s watching.

On Thursday November 17th, the two month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, we call upon the 99% to participate in a national day of direct action and celebration!
BREAKFAST: Shut Down Wall Street – 7:00 a.m.

Enough of this economy that exploits and divides us. It’s time we put an end to Wall Street’s reign of terror and begin building an economy that works for all. We will gather in Liberty Square at 7:00 a.m., before the ring of the Trading Floor Bell, to prepare to confront Wall Street with the stories of people on the frontlines of economic injustice. There, before the Stock Exchange, we will exchange stories rather than stocks.
LUNCH: Occupy The Subways – 3:00 p.m.

We will start by Occupying Our Blocks! Then throughout the five boroughs, we will gather at 16 central subway hubs and take our own stories to the trains, using the “People’s Mic”.

John E at AoSHQ watched the #occupy “general assembly, last night, and said it was every bit as creepy and bizarre as you’d expect.

The tone on their websites is much more up-twinkly benign occupation talk, but there were multiple calls to “shut down” this or that and to “confront the fascist police forces” in the streets during the assembly (check out the #N17 hash for more). That message appears to be resonating. Like he says, they want to “burn the city to the ground”. When Occupy Wall Street started many on the right were warning Democrats to avoid encouraging or embracing it, not because it was going to end up being a political liability to them, but because it had the potential to spiral out of control. Democrat mayors and politicians are attempting to dial it back, but it may be too late. Within 24 hours, I think we’ll have our answer.

Meanwhile Obama’s union shock troops  are planning a pro-Obama “Bridge Action Day” – Will Shut Down Bridges & Harass US Workers on Thursday.

Hot Air: OWS Day of Action: Storm Wall Street disguised in … business suits:

So this has been the marketing strategy for Mens Wearhouse all along, huh?

The “day of action” is to begin early, with protesters converging on Wall Street camouflaged in business suits hoping to blend in with office workers trooping out of the subway.

“We will rise from beneath. They can’t stop all of us. It’s going to get crazy,” vowed one organizer. “They took the first shot Tuesday night. [Thursday] we return fire. We will be peaceful, but we will resist.”

The city said it was bracing for tens of thousands of people in the streets.

“The protesters are calling for a massive event aimed at disrupting major parts of the city,” said Howard Wolfson, deputy mayor for governmental affairs. “We will be prepared for that.”

WABC’s live video feed shows police cordoning off the Wall Street area and providing only limited access today, a task for which they are well rehearsed — and thanks to the loose lips in the Occupy movement, well prepared.

Chances are good that this will be another Occu-FAIL.

One arrest has been made (thus far)

This guy appeared to be the leader, he led the chants

We knew they were coming but the disheveled horde from OccupyDenver occupied the lobby, at the Crowne Center Hotel here at BlogCon a little sooner than we had bargained for. Expected at 5:00pm, they invaded BlogCon at approximately 2:00pm.

Pandemonium ensued, with camera lights flashing on both sides, cameras trained on each other. For some reason, the occupiers were preoccupied (no pun intended) on the Koch brothers, who help fund Americans For Prosperity, not Freedomworks.

RE: The Thug Who Pushed The Denver Cop’s Motorcycle: Frank Roper and his “Facial Lacerations”

Last weekend, we saw #OccupyDenver protesters skirmish with police in a melee that resulted in about six people getting arrested and pepper-sprayed.

One of the activists arrested was Frank Roper, after he pushed an officer’s motorcycle as it rode by:

Immediately after Roper shoved the officer’s bike, he was tackled to the ground and cuffed.

Here’s a typical left-wing description of what happened:

A Denver motorcycle policeman frustrated with protesters in his way decided to charge the impeding crowd with his motorcycle, running directly into Mr. Roper with his motorcycle. Mr. Roper reacted by shoving the motorcycle, followed by a brief sprint when he saw that the officer was turning around for him. Mr. Roper made it about 10 yards before being gang tackled by police and severely beaten resulting in multiple lacerations to his face. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Footage of the incident is in the sidebar.

Just look at the “multiple lacerations” on poor Frankie’s face, omg:

“Warning,” the blogger cautions us — this video is graphic because “Frankie’s face was split open”, and “due to the blows to his face that he received, he could not sit up – he basically passed out.” Frankie is “one of the more loveable protesters” he’s been following:

Now, we already knew that Frankie wasn’t “severely beaten” by police because videos had appeared on Youtube showing what happened after Roper and his friends crowded and obstructed the officer on the motorcycle. When the cop refused to yield, Roper angrily shoved the bike as it went by, then darted away with the cop in pursuit, who quickly tackled him like a linebacker. The police hogtied Roper’s hands and feet, and removed him from the park. There was no beating what-so-ever. The only question was, how did the lacerations get on his face – did he hit a jagged rock when he hit the ground?

Thanks to El Marco’s excellent camera work, we now have a much better idea of what happened at the October 29 “leftist lawfare campaign of uncivil agitation” in Denver:

Denver, like other cities that have Occupy manifestations, is faced by a core of protesters from anarchist groups, labor unions, and communist organizations, often obscuring their affiliations, mixed in with a mishmash of confused students, concerned citizen activists, children, and all sorts of evil clowns.

Not to mention zombies. Don’t forget the evil ZOMBIES:

It turns out, our “loveable” hero is a zombie practitioner of lawfare. Those gashes on his face were not the result of his scuffle with the police. It was ZOMBIE MAKE-UP.

El Marco reported:

He was released immediately from the hospital, as he was actually uninjured. No doubt the makeup is what got him into the hospital rather than into jail.

This is what the “loveable protester” had been up to earlier in the day:

Lawfare is “the use of law as a weapon of war.” It is one of several alternative war-making concepts outlined in a 1999 Chinese book that set forth new types of offensive actions available to an international actor that seeks to undermine a military force. The international left has become adept at using lawfare in many arenas including against law enforcement. Both congressman John Conyers and Weather Underground terrorist Bernadette Dohrn are or have been members of the guild. Radicals are trained to harass the police and disobey every attempt of law-enforcement to control a deliberately orchestrated volatile mob action.

The trouble started when El Comandante (above, to left of statue) veered off the permitted march route, gesticulating wildly that the marchers should follow him up the steps to the Capitol. This created confusion on Broadway, and split the march, with about half following El Comandante (Spendley), and the other half returning as planned to Civic Center Park.

The marchers around me verbally expressed surprise when El Comandante summoned them off the route to the park, and led them up to the Capitol Building. I estimate the entire march of October 29 to have numbered no more than 1,000 although the DLEM claims 2,000. Protesters told me earlier that OD’s permit was for a march to support medical marijuana legislation.

I scampered up the stairs and found that the verbal abuse of cops had already begun. The man on the right, with the kaffiya and armband, is an Occupy Denver “official security anarchist.” Frankie Roper can be seen, with the orange bandana, launching into his confrontation with State Troopers. The trooper walking towards the camera will soon be the target of Roper’s insanity. It seemed to me that the troopers were taken by surprise.

Jeannie Hartley [gave] instructions while Frankie hurls abuse at State Troopers. The National Lawyers’ Guild films the developing confrontation, looking for evidence to use against the troopers in court. Anarchists can be seen streaming forward, screeching, and soon the mob wil reach a number between 400 and 500, howling abuse at the troopers. I’m immediately struck by the zen-like calm and mild humor with which the troopers absorb the abuse without reacting.

Frankie Roper, zombie from Colorado Springs, made repeated attempts to push his way through the thin blue line. He soon singled out the thinnest part of the line, and possibly the oldest of the troopers, on whom he spewed very personal venom.

The protesters were repeatedly told they were not allowed in or near the Capitol Building, as they had no permit to demonstrate there. Up and down the line, troopers were singled out by individual protesters, who concentrated on breaking through the line. The smiley-faced man in the center of the photo above is using a crossed-arm technique developed in Cuba by people to resist Fidel Castro’s goon squads. In Cuba, the difference being that the people are resisting totalitarian communist state agents, while here communists and anarchists are using it on police in an attempt to get their way by undemocratic means.

Roper repeatedly tried to advance through the line in order to provoke the police for the Lawyers’ Guild cameras, which were trained on this scene for over twenty minutes

The troopers really showed their training and courage as they held the line and waited for reinforcements. Note how the protesters carefully avoid laying hands on law enforcement. They have been schooled in the art of how to provoke by yelling, screaming, and shoving — right up to the line of what would be considered assault.

Can a regular citizen appreciate what these officers are now facing around the world from this Occupy movement? In Europe, officers are being butchered and incinerated (Rome: 40, Athens: 100′s) by Occupy communists and anarchists. While liberal polititians and media coddle and support the radicals, these officers’ lives will be in danger as this lunatic fringe gains ground.

The calm courage of the troopers only seemed to infuriate some of the protesters even more as they tried every foul combination of words to incite trouble.

Roper’s zombie buddies were also harassing individual officers. Hey liberals, try staring at a living, screaming, leftist zombie who’s showering spittle in your face for twenty minutes and see if you like it. Where is it written that a citizen has a right to do this to anyone?

Later on , one of the #OccupyDenver organizers, Jeannie Hartley appeared on Olbermann:

Olbermann: Tell me about the scene on Saturday. The protesters were described as unruly. Are the police being truthful in that statement?

Hartley: To be honest, I have to tell you what I saw. What I witnessed was not anyone being unruly. What I saw was several police officers chasing en masse into the park, running towards one little guy in a tree, and then chasing after another man and throwing him down onto the ground, and putting him in a choke hold, with officers surrounding him. I saw tear gas being dispersed, I saw rubber pellets being shot into the crowd towards people that from my vision were not being unruly. …who from where I was standing were not being unruly at all. We’d had a perfectly peaceful march a perfectly peaceful rally and it turned into something much worse.

… It was extraordinary, the amount of police force that was present, before anything was, by their definition, unruly…

KO: Is there any thought of going to the in Denver or the state courts?

H: Yes, That is something that is in the works. We have an amazing legal team. We are also working with the National Lawyer’s Guild. I can’t address (details) as I’m not an attorney, but I can promise you that’s in the works.

JH: People are in the streets because of injustice. So for the police force to inflict more injustice upon us is not going to make us leave, it’s going to make more people come into the streets.

When they say “Fox News lies”, you now know it’s pure projection, right?

Be sure to read El Marco’s full report. There’s much more.

This What Educational Failure Looks Like

The expression is that “A picture is worth a thousand words”.

This one is the ultimate intellectual expression of the American Left. In it, one sees the contempt that they have for other people’s achievements, and those who help perpetuate society by safeguarding those achievements and keeping the peace. Any discussion of the inconvenient truth that no matter WHO leads it, Marx/Commu/Socialism will never work is wasted on people who can find eloquence in excrement.  They are blind to a political and economic system that allows the individual to “pursue happiness” by taking responsibility for their own destiny, rather than being yoked to a collective standard chosen by other people.

I have had exchanges with some of the #OWS (Occupy Wall Street) supporters this week on Twitter.  All condemn the “greed” of Wall Street, while being completely blind to their own envy and sense of entitlement to what these “evil” greedy people have. They rail against corporations for their lack of “accountability to the people”, and refuse to acknowledge that corporations answer to their shareholders and the government, and were designed that way, instead of focusing their attentions on the people who were always intended to be accountable to them: elected officials.

They tell their sob stories of hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt for their MFA degrees and living in parents’ basements, unable to get food stamps for their cats, or jobs that allow them to pay back their student loans. Each adds their plaintive voices to a chorus of whiny stories that call themselves “We Are the 99%” as opposed to the evil, greedy 1% of rich people who they feel entitled to “take” from. I’d call them “We Are The Falsely Entitled”. They talk about “new” economic models where workers have a say in how businesses are run, and how they have to “collapse the system” in order to build a society that is “fair” and doesn’t pick winners and losers, which is utter nonsense.  If society didn’t pick winners and losers, then you should be able to go to the corner store and purchase an ice cold Chrystal Pepsi for yourself.  They are immune to the suggestion that it is reasonable and understandable to be angry about a government that picks winners and losers, when its role is to act as referree.

This insistence on “fairness” is the expression of the naive and those blinded by envy, both of whom are eminently willing to surrender a potential that they have been tricked into thinking that they do not have, or that they are too afraid to command for themselves, to people only too willing to harness for their own ends. In either event, their childish notion of “fairness” pervades their demands and beliefs. A fairness that betrays opportunity for a physical equality, doled out by beneficent “rulers” who decide what is best for all and make it the assigned task for society.

But what I find the most offensive is that this segment of society, clinging to their Noam Chomsky readers, talking about the need for greater Democracy everywhere, and approving of every new law made by activist federal courts over the last 40 years utterly rejects the Democratic apparatus we already have.  It is urgent to “collapse the system” because “The Corporations” make all the choices for them, leaving the voter with only Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee when the time comes to cast the ballots. When you point out the flaws in this thinking, such as the success that the Tea Party had in backing and electing candidates in 2010, they only offer the electronic equivalent of a blank stare, followed by “That can’t be right. I saw all about the Tea Party is bad on MSNBC.”

When you suggest that if they really are the 99%, then it should be any problem for them to field and elect their own candidates, the only response is mumbling about corruption. And when you suggest that they simply don’t have the right to “collapse” a system that everyone else in society relies on, and has built their lives around, then they don’t have much to say at all, other than to condemn you as one of the 1% or as someone being led by the nose by that 1%.

As ridiculous as they appear to be, their ignorance and their appetites are dangerous. This is a mob that largely has no understanding of civics, of their political history, both the one that is their birthright, and the one they stupidly embrace, and yet believe that society can and should provide them with a life free from want, difficulty, or hard labor. They demonstrate no understanding that the democracy they cry out for is, at its core, only what 50%+1 wants, or that without safeguards for the minorities that are part of the system they want to collapse, they will inevitably be part of the 49%. While I don’t want to spare them the impact of learning that lesson firsthand, I do not want to live in the environment that would teach them, because revolutions are messy, and the temptation for the rest of the world to interfere is too great.  That means that we HAVE to engage them, and let them know that they are nowhere near being 99%, and that the only reason this has gone on this long is because the rest of us had to get up and go to work in the morning.

Tucson Superintendent Capitulates in Radical La Raza Curriculum Battle

Tucson Superintendent, John Pedicone

This is one of those posts I just want to skip, because the story is just  so depressing and pathetic. We are talking complete capitulation, here.

In case you’re not familiar with what’s been going on in the Tucson school district, where the school board has been considering changing the radical, anti-American, Raza (ethnic) Studies course to an elective (it should be removed, entirely), you can get caught up at Moonbattracker – I’ve been covering the story there for weeks:

Video: Shocking Excerpts Read at Tucson School Board Meeting From A Book In The Ethic Studies Curriculum

At the end of this video, you get to witness Pedicone telling the woman reading the excerpts from the course to the school board, to stop reading the offensive and profane language because kids are present. Now, he’s giving the greenlight for the district to continue teaching the course that contains this offensive and profane language….to kids.

You cannot make this stuff up.

Reconquistador Mob Shuts Down Tucson School Board Meeting

La Raza Protesters Mob AZ Attorney General

Today, The Blaze reports:

Superintendent John Pedicone told local station KOLD-TV that he sent a letter to UNIDOS — the radical student group opposing the change — and the Mexican American Studies Community Advisory Board saying he has now advised the TUSD governing board to “table and not consider the resolution to make Mexican American Studies an elective.” (Quote is not Pedicone’s, but rather KOLD’s.)

Also contained in at least one of the letters is a promise that he won’t recommend charges against those who were arrested during the rowdy protests.

“We simply have to kind of bring that level of anxiety down to where we can begin to talk reasonably about this program, which we, which I think the district has said from the very beginning it supports,” Pedicone told KOLD. He later added: “I can’t speak for individual board members or others, but from my perspective it’s more important to bring the tone to a level where we can have a conversation and begin to have levels of understanding for the sake of the district.  That’s really my responsibility.”

In the letters, Pedicone told both groups that he is recommending the board refrain from voting on the plan until the State Department of Public Instruction rules whether the Mexican-American studies program is illegal.

“The intensity of the discussion has reached a point where it makes it difficult to consider any resolution at this time,” he writes in a letter to the Mexican-American Studies advisory board. “The deep-seated feelings surrounding this program, either as a result of a strong affiliation to its purpose or, in other cases, a rejection of the premise for its inclusion has created a counter-productive atmosphere that must be changed.”

He concludes the letter by asking the board to “please accept my apologies for my role in the situation.”

Video: Newt’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week Gets Even Worse….

Poor Newt. His terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week just got a little worse….

Via Fox Nation:

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista were hit with glittery confetti by a protester Tuesday during the couple’s appearance at a book-signing.

The man approached the Gingriches during the signing at a downtown Minneapolis hotel, dumped a cracker box full of confetti on the pair and said, “Stop the hate!”

Boy, were they mad –they flinched, dusted themselves off, and looked bewildered that someone would do something like that. The hateful kooks.

But then it got creepy….

The Christian event organizer who ushered the merry prankster out of the room, said… “Have you ever seen us disturb one of your events?” Then he went completely off the rails with: “Peace be with you, brother”.

CREEPY!!!!

The psychotic nice young man who attacked showered a presidential candidate with a box of glitter?

He’s a civic-minded activist who is exposing to the world the HATEY-HATE-HATRED of family-values Christian conservatives. Did you see that hateful Minnesota Family Council event brochure??? I’m still shaking.

He sure made his point.

Poll: New Tone Nominees For Week of March 20-26

The left loves to chastise conservatives for their “vitriolic discourse”, yet often fail spectacularly to maintain basic civility in their own discourse. The New Tone Award is reserved for liberal notables who demonstrate that double standard. Details about what each nominee said can be found below the poll.

Bill Maher, for calling Sarah Palin  a ‘dumb twat’:

“Did you hear this – Sarah Palin finally heard what happened in Japan and she’s demanding that we invade ‘Tsunami,’” Maher said. “I mean she said, ‘These ‘Tsunamians’ will not get away with this.’ Oh speaking of dumb twats, did you –”

…there’s a certain brand of evangelical Christians who believe in Revelations, that Armageddon is coming, and that will happen in Israel basically….but that’s why they like Israel. That’s why they want Israel to be strong. It’s not because…It’s not because they like Jews or Israelis.

“You’re trying to take up our time getting us to defend your friend Sarah Palin. If you keep us busy defending her, we have less time to defend women’s bodies from the onslaught of reproductive rights attacks and other threats to our freedom, safety, livelihood, etc,” wrote Bennett. “Sorry, but we can’t defend Palin or even Hillary Clinton from every sexist insult hurled at them in the media. That task would be impossible, and it would consume us. You know this would not be a productive way to fight for women’s equal rights, which is why you want us stuck in this morass.”

Joy Behar for lying about Reagan’s AIDS record during her HLN Elizabeth Taylor tribute:

She didn’t like Ronald Reagan’s politics. She knew the Reagans and she was friends with them, I think, but she didn’t like his politics. And here is the reason, I think, because as the AIDS crisis began in 1981, and Reagan couldn’t even say the word “AIDS” until 1987, after 40,000 people had died from the disease.

They’re just looking for opportunities to cheap shot the President. The people who were criticizing Bush had a coherent, had coherent reasons to criticize him. It wasn’t like that. There was coherence to the point of view, where as here, I think you’re exactly right. They would just be trashing him whatever he did, and it feels that way. It feels cheap, it feels shallow.

We have to think much more creatively. The key thing… What does the other side fear the most – they fear disruption. They fear uncertainty. Every article about Europe says in they rioted in Greece the markets went down

The folks that control this country care about one thing how the stock market goes what the bond market does how the bonuses goes. We have a very simple strategy:

  • How do we bring down the stock market
  • How do we bring down their bonuses
  • How do we interfere with there ability to be rich

Frances Fox-Piven’s Leftist Buddy, Barbra Ehrenreich, for Attacking the Tea Party and Saying Americans Are Prozac-Popping Wusses That Won’t Riot:

Video at the link.

“Not since the dark days of the Bush administration have we seen a Republican-controlled Congress that is so intent on pushing their agenda in Washington — protecting tax breaks for oil companies making record profits, attempting to roll back environmental regulations, and not only refusing to pass climate change legislation in any form but refusing to acknowledge that climate change even exists,” Gore wrote in a fundraising pitch for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

Dem Rep. Gary Ackerman and MSNBC’s Cenk Uygur for agreeing that opposing Obama is “unpatriotic”…

On his MSNBC show this evening, Cenk Uygur suggested that opposition to President Obama’s Libya policy is “unpatriotic.” For good measure, Dem congressman Gary Ackerman stated that opposing the president is “cheering for the wrong team.”
