Sharyl Attkisson Suggests Far Left Media Matters Was Paid To Take Her Down (Video)

Former CBS  reporter Sharyl Attkisson was a rare bird in the world of MSM investigative journalism, her objective being, to hold government accountable – no matter who was in charge. In other words, she subjected Democrats to the same level of scrutiny as Republicans. This made her persona non grata when the Obama administration came into power.

In this interview with CNN’s Reliable Sources with Brian Stelter, Sunday, Attkisson revealed that the far-left, Soros funded “Media Matters for America” targeted her after she reported on stories unflattering to the Obama administration like the Fast and Furious gun-running scandal, Solyndra, and Benghazi on CBS.

As Washington Free Beacon notes, Media Matters made a special point of attacking Attkisson, “who ruffled many left-wing feathers when she resigned and said that her work for CBS had been stifled by liberals within the network. That is not an old charge, as former CBS correspondent Bernard Goldberg wrote in the best-selling book Bias, explaining how the truth was often distorted at the network because of political bias.”

Attkisson nonchalantly explained that Media Matters used to “work with” her on stories, which evoked a reaction from Stelter. “That’s interesting,” he said.

“Well, don’t they call you? They call journalists and they try to provide material and information,” she replied.

“Right, they are always emailing things, making us try to act outraged about something,” Stelter said. (And the MSM are usually happy to oblige.)

“And I was certainly friendly with them as anybody,” Attkisson said. “Good information can come from any source. But when I persisted with Fast & Furious and some of the green energy stories that I was doing, I clearly at some point became a target. I don’t know if someone paid them to do it or they just took it on their own.”

Again, Stelter acted surprised.”Do you think that’s possible that someone paid them?” He asked.

Attkisson replied,  “well they get contributions from — yes, they get contributions.”

Stelter: But specifically to target you?

Attkisson: Perhaps, sure. I think that’s what some of these groups do, absolutely.

Fast and Furious News Round-Up – Next Holder hearing scheduled for 1/24

CNN’s Jack Cafferty, is seemingly just getting up to speed on Fast and Furious, and not getting it all quite right, either –  No, the operation wasn’t “botched” – they allowed the guns to walk over the border into the hands of drug cartels, but I guess you could say (as Caffery does) that it went “haywire”.

Anderson Cooper has also reported on Fast and Furious, although CNN has a long way to go to equal Fox.  It’s certainly doing better than NBC with its ZERO reportage.

The Justice Department gave Fox News this statement in response to the brouhaha over Holder’s use of the race card to smear his critics in that NYTs interview with Charlie Savage:

“That is a complete distortion of the attorney general’s comment. His comments both in the article and elsewhere made clear that he believes much of the criticism is launched against him are unfortunately the typical Washington gotcha game. A simple reading of those comments show he was referring to how he is identified with the president given their close relationship and all they share in common including their ideology. The position of the attorney general has been a target for partisan attacks, and given the critical work that this attorney general he is doing at the Department of Justice, it’s no surprise that some are engaging in such tactics. His critics rightly view the attorney general is a progressive force, and given our current political environment, there will those who use any opportunity to score political points.”

Here’s a “simple reading” of the comment aka what he said:
Of that group of critics, Mr. Holder said he believed that a few — the “more extreme segment” — were motivated by animus against Mr. Obama and that he served as a stand-in for him. “This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” he said, “both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”
It is not a distortion to say that Holder played the race card. He said what he said, and it cannot be spinned away by even Media Matters, who’s been uncharacteristically mum on this. If the collectivist stooges at Media Matters can’t spin it, no one can.
But Holder and company will continue to lie and back-peddle, because they know more than half of the American public don’t pay attention – especially right now, so close to Christmas. They know they can go out and make pathetic public statements completely contradicting themselves and it will fly by most ears.   But the truth will catch up to them eventually.
Rep. Gowdy on Fox News with Greta Van Susteren, said: Fast and Furious has nothing to do with race. “To criticize your critics, and accuse them of racism when you have legitimate questions about the top law enforcement officer in the country — doesn’t serve him very well,” he blasted.

After Gowdy marveled aloud about Holder’s “misguided loyalty” to his staff, I hope you caught this: “…or – I’m beginning to think it’s maybe more than that – maybe he’s protecting someone even higher than the Criminal Chief and his Chief of Staff”…

Via The Right Scoop, here’s a heart-rending report by Al Jazeera which shows how Mexican drug gangs intimidate people in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Note when the violence really escalated and keep in mind that our government has been arming these thugs:

Scanning the YouTube page for that video, I saw a lot of comments like these:

Legalize. The prices drop, crime drops, murder drops..

it’s the war on drugs, if there wasnt any money in the drug trade there’s be no problem. legalize all drugs now and you remove the incentive and money for gangs.

Legalize all drugs and most of the problems are solved! THE END.

People who have been closely paying attention have long been under the impression that there is more afoot here, than just “padding the numbers” to make a stronger case for stricter gun laws.

Bob Owens brought up three possible goals at PJ Media:

1. Short-term: Increased illegal immigration from Mexico as people attempt to flee the increasing violence (allowing them to push the DREAM Act through, and “stacking the deck” in the next election via ACORN and SEIU);

2. Medium-term: Propaganda for tighter gun laws (possibly enacted by Executive Order, bypassing the Congress);

3. Long-term: Legalization of “recreational drugs,” helped by a “drug friendly” Mexican government, influenced by if not overtly controlled by the drug cartels.

Coincidentally, drug legalization happens to be a policy change long favored by George Soros.

Last September, Soros, and a AFSCME funded group filed an ethics complaint against Darrell Issa as he Probed the  gunwalker plot.

For those of you keeping score, there is a Soros connection to Fast and Furious. (Of course there’s a Soros connection to practically everythingon the left.)

CBS News and the Los Angeles Times have  reported that Dan Restrepo and two other officials, were in on ATF memos from the Gunwalker operation known as “Fast and Furious.”

Restrepo, the National Security Council’s top man for Latin America, was also one of the figures behind the  U.S.’s deplorable  Honduras policy in 2009. Hiding behind the curtain at that time too,  was  “the Puppetmaster”.

Prior to moving to the National Security Council,  Restrepo was the director of the Americas Project at the Center for American Progress (CAP), the Soros funded liberal think tank, whose President and Chief Executive Officer is John Podesta…

Issa spoke with Univision’s Jorge Ramos, earlier this week: American People Still Waiting for Answers from Justice Dept on Fast & Furious:

Issa: But after Fast and Furious, I have no choice but to know that they will lie.

Adbusters, Soros $$$ and The Confused Kids of #OWS

al-Reuters finally admits what many of us have been reporting for weeks:

The Hungarian-American was an early supporter of the 2008 election campaign of Barack Obama, who will seek a second term as president in the November, 2012, election. He has long backed liberal causes – the Open Society Institute, the foreign policy think tank Council on Foreign Relations and Human Rights Watch.

According to disclosure documents from 2007-2009, Soros’ Open Society gave grants of $3.5 million to the Tides Center, a San Francisco-based group that acts almost like a clearing house for other donors, directing their contributions to liberal non-profit groups. Among others the Tides Center has partnered with are the Ford Foundation and the Gates Foundation.

Disclosure documents also show Tides, which declined comment, gave Adbusters grants of $185,000 from 2001-2010, including nearly $26,000 between 2007-2009.

***

Adbusters, whose magazine has a circulation of 120,000 and which is known for its spoofs of popular advertisements, came up with the Occupy Wall Street idea after Arab Spring protests toppled governments in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, said Kalle Lasn, 69, Adbusters co-founder.

“It came out of these brainstorming sessions we have at Adbusters,” Lasn told Reuters, adding they began promoting it online on July 13. “We were inspired by what happened in Tunisia and Egypt and we had this feeling that America was ripe for a Tahrir moment.”

“We felt there was a real rage building up in America, and we thought that we would like to create a spark which would give expression for this rage.”

Teresa of Koch’s Tour decided to find out more about Kalle Lasn, the man behind Adbusters:

Adbusters was founded by a European-born gentleman by the name of Kalle Lasn, who currently lives in Canada.  Mr. Lasn has never lived in the United States.  He HATES capitalism in all of its forms, and he especially hates American consumerism.  In his book, “Culture Jam“, he audaciously claims that he wants to “wreck the world”.

I guess Mr. Lasn – despite his stated contempt for consumerism, capitalism, and filthy dirty profit – realized that the kids on Wall Street are getting all of the glory (not to mention all of the donations), so he decided to set the record straight.  I mean, there IS money to be made from all of this, after all….

So on October 7th, Mr. Lasn sat down with a reporter at The Tyee – an “independent daily online magazine reaching every corner of British Columbia and beyond” – and gave them a self-serving interview wherein he disclosed just how grass-roots this whole campout in the park – or as I like to call it, ”Airhead Autumn”- really is.

It turns out that this really DID start long before September 17th:

…it all falls under a hashtag that began far from the pepper spray and mass arrests, in the offices of Vancouver’s own Adbusters magazine, as #OccupyWallStreet…..

Mr. Lasn and his cohorts have been attempting to stir the pot for over 20 years as it turns out, so he is positively GIDDY with the success of his latest campaign:

…..as the movement overspills Wall Street, he describes it as the most successful in the 22 years he and his magazine have been advocating “culture jamming,” which originally sought to subvert consumerism.

Adbusters came up with a poster design, which was designed to divert peoples’ attention away from the true meaning behind the protest:

And like all good Politburos, the elite planned on sitting up in their safe little offices, letting all of the work (and any eventual blame) be carried out by the gullible, the naive, and the expendable:

….we always thought of ourselves as the catalyzers, the people who set that meme, as we like to call it, in motion. And right from the start we decided that we’re not going to play a part on the street, that if our meme flies, if people love it, then we’re happy to come up with posters, and we did send them all kinds of handbills…..

It was rather nice of them to provide the kids with supplies, don’t you think?

These people have always been behind the scenes, directing the show, and those kids need to understand that this protest isn’t about THEIR demands; it’s about fulfilling Mr. Lasn’s desire to be relevant:

….I feel like this is the first time in the 20-plus year history of Adbusters that we really have a chance to pull something off….

It doesn’t sound like he is going to give up on this particular protest, because this time he and his friends are convinced that they are >>this close<< to finally seeing their dreams of revolution come to fruition.

Who’s “their”. Read on. It’s basically a collection of nasty old anarchists and commies who are egging the clueless kids on.

Jeff G. at Protein Wisdom notices another distinguishing characteristic of Adbusters:

Shockingly, Adbusters has a history of (thinly-veiled) anti-Semitism — and today’s protests against “Wall Street” and “bankers” is merely an extension of its earlier protests against the controlling cabal of “neocons.”

Adbusters sees filthy, sneaky Jews everywhere — and everywhere this stealthy cabal of neocons, bankers, and Zionists, is controlling the world, robbing The People, and hoarding The Wealth.

Of course, we’ve heard such things before in history. But what’s new is that the mainstream Democrat Party — which is no longer the party of JFK or Scoop Jackson, or even Walter Mondale, but is rather the product of a New Left, led by Marxists, racial demagogues, and “progressives” — have openly embraced and defended this movement.

Discover the Networks Adbusters profile, here:

  • Anti-capitalist collective that derides American consumerism
  • Said in 2011: “Now may be the ripest moment we’ll ever have to power-shift global capitalism onto a new sustainable path.”
  • Condemns Israel for allegedly expropriating Palestinian land and instituting a discriminatory system of laws reminiscent of South Africa’s apartheid regime
  • Warns that pollution created by human industrial activity will lead to “catastrophic climate change”

Can some of the followers of this  movement be reasoned with?

Benjamin Domenech of The Transom thinks so and says the Right is missing an opportunity in dealing with the #OWS folks.

Let me explain. It’s not that I think they’re some latent conservative movement. But at their core, I think they are animated by disgust with many of the same things that drove Tea Partiers to the streets. They are responding to their circumstances the only way they know how, thanks to a flawed mindset ingrained in them by teachers and leaders. Unfortunately, the Right is reacting not by advancing winning arguments to them, but by ridiculing them, conceding them to the radical Left.

Many of us on the right have decided most of these indoctrinated people are unreachable, and the strategy is to reach news consumers in the mushy-middle, the very folks who are susceptible to buying the media’s sympathetic #OWS  media narrative. The counter-narrative we are pushing is that the #OWS crowd are clueless drones, agitators, hippies, hardcore commies, etc., which is of course true for many – perhaps most of them. The leaders of the movement are certainly a radical and nefarious lot.

But Domeneche believes many of the folks showing up at these protests can be reached:

The inherent belief among most Americans is that you direct your destiny. Essentially, this boils down to the idea that with hard work and time and energy you can reach out and seize the future you want for yourself.

This contrasts strongly with the attitude of most of Europe and Asia, where destiny is not subject to individual pursuit. Instead, you live instead within a world outside your control, where you navigate between social and economic barriers within your time.

This creates a point of view where life is about navigating within a world outside of your control. You are powerless as the sailor is over the waves of the sea. Thus, the only response to bad situations is an appeal to the enshrined other, the powerbrokers and larger forces, for rescue, protection, and fair treatment.

In New York City and elsewhere, the Occupy gatherings are an expression of this. They are an inchoate appeal by the distressed, the unemployed, and the frustrated for help from higher powers. They are disgusted with what they perceive as the unfairness of life. They are disgusted by bailouts and corporate cronyism and a government that is not solving the problems they face in life. This is not an inherently leftist movement. It is a cry for help from an uninformed, frustrated America.

Yes, a portion of them are old guard hippies bent on drum circles and jazz hand assemblies, aimed at bending the naive and the uninformed to the vile lie of socialism. They laud the idols of free crap and deviance. They play Lefty to the Grasshopper. But the response of the right is not to advance an alternate argument or convince the Grasshopper that he would be better off with a paycheck instead of an unemployment check; instead, our response is ridicule and anger.

Fairness is not an idea at war with liberty and free enterprise – in fact, it is at its core. The case for equality of opportunity is one that can win hearts and minds. As Calvin Coolidge said, “Democracy is not a tearing down; it is a building up. It is not denial of the divine right of kings; it asserts the divine right of all men.” The meritocracy of earned success is not something these protesters should find unacceptable.

I applaud those conservatives who are willing to brave the #Occupy hordes to make this case.

But, when a movement is marked by such stunning ignorance, radicalism and moonbattery, (see RWN for The Top 10 Moments From The Occupy  Wall Street Protests, So Far), there has to be a place for ridicule, too.

Zombie Pictorial at PJ Tatler: More Anti-Semitism at Occupy Los Angeles

While there have been intense arguments in the media recently about hints of anti-Semitism which have erupted at New York’s Occupy Wall Street protest, very little attention has been paid to similar problems cropping up at other “Occupy” events around the country.

Below you will find some photographs and a video taken at the Occupy Los Angeles encampment which reveal how there is a growing encroachment of anti-Semitic “Jewish bankers” conspiracy theories becoming more and more evident at these events. Obviously not everyone at the “Occupy” protests is an anti-Semite, but the fact that these statements and views fit so neatly into the whole anti-banker milieu, and often go completely unchallenged by fellow protesters, should give everyone cause for concern about where this whole movement is heading.

Oh Joy: Two Major Soros Conferences In One Weekend

Beloved philanthropist, George Soros is so dedicated to improving American lives, he’s scheduled two major conferences in one weekend:

The emphasis of both conferences is a familiar one to American voters – change. Soros wants to begin changing the global economy in one event. In the other, his flunkies want to “Change the world. Change the media.”

Now that is change you can believe in. Sadly, those who actually report the news must believe in it because they sure as heck aren’t reporting on Soros or either event. And that’s even though staffers or even executives from Reuters, the Financial Times, NPR, PBS, The Washington Post and other major media outlets are speaking at one event or the other.

The first gathering in Bretton Woods, N.H., is an economic conference Soros once described as “a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order.” In October 2009, Soros committed $50 million to the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET). A week later, the glib lefty investor wrote a column calling for a new Bretton Woods event, to recreate the one that helped design the post-WWII economy. Only he wants this one to knock America down a peg or three.

***
The announced speakers include a lot of prominent lefties, globalists and economists on the board of the organization he has throwing the event – more than two-thirds of the overall total have ties to Soros. To underscore their connection to history, INET is hosting the conference at the Mount Washington Resort, the very same hotel that held the first gathering.
And if that wasn’t enough, a Soros-funded media conference will be held just three hours away in Boston.

Close to 350 left-wingers from a variety of organizations are gathering there for the National Conference for Media Reform. That “change the world” conference includes two commissioners from the FCC, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Bernie Sanders, four Democratic representatives, the head of Columbia University, and assorted left-wing journalist types, from Salon’s Glenn Greenwald to disgraced former MSNBC host David Shuster, who now works for a Soros-funded investigative operation.

The rest of the list reads like a “Who’s Who” of left-wing organizations and talking heads, including the president of PBS, a senior vice president with American Public Media, an Al Jazeera English executive, the president of the Newspaper Guild – CWA and Washington Post columnist Rob Pegoraro. Many others have Soros connections, such as:

Common Cause, which has been going after conservative Supreme Court justices who have some connection to the Koch brothers. Common Cause seems immune to similar investigations of their own gravy train.

Columbia Journalism Review’s Dean Starkman. He is chief of the review’s “The Audit” section and a 2006 Katrina Media Fellow with the Open Society Institute, the primary Soros charitable foundation.

Free Press, which is holding the conference. Free Press has received more than $1 million from Soros since 2003 and has 18 presenters pushing for things like “strong public media” or an extremely expensive national broadband plan they quaintly describe as “universal access to communications.”

Think Progress’sKoch-hating Lee Fang. Think Progress is a project of Democrat John Podesta’s Center for American Progress, which was founded with Soros money. Fang is on the panel for: “Real Issues vs. Astroturf: Confronting the Koch Brothers,” and makes the laughable claim “this is not about liberals versus conservatives” when the entire goal of the left is to shut down the Kochs to defund the right.

Meanwhile, those evil Koch brothers have been engaging in one nefarious deed after another — “stealing our democracy”

I remember hearing the account of how the Koch brothers amassed a $10 Billion position in the British pound and then sold it short causing “Black Wednesday.” The evil brothers made $1.1 Billion and set England on a course towards a recession which hurt millions of people as businesses failed and the housing market collapsed. They essentially bankrupted an entire country to make a profit. That’s pure evil.

The Kochs broke the Bank of England via  their enormous, largely unregulated, derivative based hedge funds which aren’t even headquartered in the US!! Lord knows how many taxes those evil rich guys have avoided over the decades of their funds’ existence. The Leftists are always telling us how shady it is to offshore an operations’ headquarters and the Koch brothers are a prime example. Crashing economies and undermining currencies. Making billions of dollars. And then they have the audacity to not even use that money to create jobs in the US?? PURE. EVIL.

***

They’ve been convicted of insider trading. They fund organizations dedicated to silencing opposing view points (literally, they don’t just disagree, they want them shut down). They operate a network of organizations which fund, directly or indirectly, nearly every radical movement in the US and abroad. They have declared themselves the “world’s conscience” as if their history of pure evil doesn’t exist.— Keep reading here.

25 Obama Radicals Arrested At Soros Funded Anti-Koch Bros Rally

First, here are some scenes from the Soros- funded anti-Koch rally in California, last weekend:

The Blaze reports:

Twenty-five people were arrested for trespassing Sunday as hundreds protested outside a strategy session of conservative political donors hosted by brothers David and Charles Koch at a resort near Palm Springs, CA authorities said.

The demonstration had been arranged with authorities, but some protesters crossed the street to the entrance of the Rancho Las Palmas Resort where they were met by deputies in riot gear, Riverside County Deputy Melissa Nieburger said. They were arrested without a struggle, booked at Indio Jail, and released.

According to Reuters, the rally was organized by the liberal group Common Cause, an anti-conservative group that charges the Koch brothers of influencing politics with their money. It was also sponsored by the leftist group  Code Pink, whose founder Jodie Evans was reportedly one of those arrested. Trumpeting the message of those groups, rally speakers accused the brothers of being “anarchists with a checkbook”.

George Soros and a branch of the Tides Foundation are listed as donors in the most recent annual report listed on Common Cause’s website.

Can you imagine how the MSM would react if 25 tea partiers had been arrested at one of their rallies? This isn’t getting much media play, at all. Is anyone outside of the blogosphere even covering it? The Democrats do not want to be linked to their most extreme elements. The MSM is happy to oblige.

Now for the Obama connection: Big Government reports  Occidental College professor Peter Dreier, who served on the Obama campaign’s urban policy task force and as an adviser to ACORN, used his position with the university to recruit activists to protest the Koch Bros’ meeting:

He also encourages people to attend a panel discussion before the protest featuring, among others, UC Irvine Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, U.C. Berekely Professor and former Obama adviser Robert Reich, and Van Jones.

The top activists on the left aren’t just confined to Soros-backed fringe groups like Code Pink or Media Matters; they’re often the professors we pay thousands to teach our children.  And it’s from their perch atop the ivory towers of academia that they recruit and reeducate the next crop of activists.

Timothy P. Varney, Senior Political Editor at the Washington Examiner, writes:

…while Soros money and Koch money are superficially equivalent, there’s a crucial distinction. If we take both sides at their word, Soros and other liberal donors spend in order to impose their preferences on others while the Kochs and other free-market donors spend in an effort to be left alone to buy and sell with willing parties.

The moral difference is this: Only one side is trying to compel others to conform to its preferences.

Consider how each side profits from its favored policies: The Kochs benefit if government takes less of their profit. To be sure, they could pocket the difference and not make charitable contributions to the poor. In moral terms, that would be selfish or just plain greedy.

Soros and his wealthy supporters profit from the government taxing or threatening to tax the children of a business owner. That’s the moral equivalent of mugging.

6 Degrees of George Soros

I was looking into the Wikileaks/Soros connection, and got so far into the weeds, I just gave up trying to make any sense of it.  I’m not going to spend my whole damn day on this. There does seems to be a general rule – six degrees of George Soros, if you will – that whenever something bad happens in the world, you can find a Soros connection.

Glenn Beck brought it up on his show, yesterday:

Fox News: Glenn Beck: WikiLeaks Questions

There’s one circle of radicals who view the world in a similar fashion. The man behind the WikiLeaks page and all of these leaks — currently hiding out in Britain. Do you know who his attorney is?

OK, here’s the guy who’s running WikiLeaks. And that is his attorney, Mark Stevens.

Mark Stevens is so weird, happens to do pro bono stuff for George Soros and the Open Society Institute. Isn’t that weird?

When the founder of WikiLeaks set out to establish funding for WikiLeaks, guess who he negotiated with? The Open Society Institute, George Soros. That’s strange, isn’t it?

Wow! Man, we should call for the top down, shouldn’t we? Because the bottom is rising up. I have wonder if anybody in the administration could help us with the Internet.

WikiLeaks wrote an award-winning report called “The Cry of Blood.” This is great. “The Cry of Blood.” The report was published by the Kenya National Commission of Human Rights. George Soros.

WikiLeaks once listed Soros connected Chinese human rights leader as one of its advisors. Well, I say once listed them because they scrubbed the Web site. Oh, too bad for WikiLeaks and George Soros and everybody else, too bad we have watchdogs that printed everything before it was scrubbed from the Web. Hmm.

I want you to listen carefully because this monologue is going to be taken out of context. Here’s what people are going to say. “Glenn Beck says George Soros is behind WikiLeaks.” That is not what I am saying.
