Joe Biden Claims He Always Knew The Surge Would Work

We live in the internet age now, which can be awkward for politicians who are asked to explain past statements, caught on video. On Face The Nation, yesterday, Biden said he never once doubted that a surge in troops would “help settle things down”??? This Naked Emperor News video exposes Biden’s shameless b.s.

According to Sheriff Joe, we would have been airlifting troops off of buildings in the Green Zone if we had persisted with the surge.

Well, we did persist, and all of the dire predictions Democrats like Biden and Obama made, never happened. In fact, the opposite happened – things “settled down”, enough to bring them home on the Bush administration’s scheduled timetable, which of course, Biden has had the gall to call one of the great achievements of the Obama administration.

The “loyal opposition” despicably played politics with a war, and now is trying to claim “responsibility” for its successful outcome.

Transcript via Face the Nation:

JOE BIDEN: Look, we’re not– we’re not– we’re not taking credit, we had to take responsibility.
When we took responsibility for the mess that were handed to us at the end of last year, an
awful lot of very informed news people like you, Bob, were wondering whether or not that
country could be put together.

From the beginning, I’ve been on your show so many times in the previous years, and my
mantra was: This requires a political solution. I never once doubted that additional American
forces would, in fact, meet the military objective of settling things down. But nothing would
matter, we would not be able to leave unless there was a political accommodation.
What we did and we didn’t responsibly from the day we took office is put that in motion. I have
been to Iraq four times this year, fourteen times already. I have met with every single solitary
one of the players in Iraq–Sunni, Shiate, Kurd, Christian. And we have been able to be a
catalyst for them moving from settling their political differences on boundaries, on territory, on
oil, etcetera, from the battle field to the political arena.

And so, I think, we’ve managed it very, very well. I think we’re going to be able to be out of Iraq,
with all of our combat troops–ninety thousand, by the end of August. I think we’ll be out leaving
behind an electorate that had just put in place a parliament that is viewed as legitimate across
the board. And we’ll be able to get out of Iraq at the end of 2011 leaving behind a stable

Now anybody who tells you, including Dick Cheney, that they knew how they were going to get
there January of last year, I would find it somewhat surprising. I give him– I don’t care who gets
credit. My generic point is–we have managed this very well thus far. The Iraqis have done really
good work. It this works it’ll be a great credit to the Iraqis and a great credit to our military and
civilian leadership that we’ve moved to the point that a nation that was in chaos is now a nation
not needing American forces, having a economic and–

R (overlapping): Well–

JOE BIDEN: –and political relationship with United States and a democracy.

BOB SCHIEFFER: –do you– do you– do you think also that George Bush would also need little
thanks for that? I mean, does he share in the credit or not?

JOE BIDEN: Well, sure. I– I’m happy to thank George Bush.

He had to be shamed into allowing George Bush partial credit for winning the war, they undermined at every opportunity!

BOB SCHIEFFER (overlapping): Okay.

JOE BIDEN: I like George Bush, but I– I think– the thing– and all the– if you go back and think
about it–

JOE BIDEN: –we’ve been on so many of your programs, it was constantly–what is their political

Yes, but of course the Bush administration had a political as well as a military solution, and yes it was predictable that we would have our troops out by the agreed-to timetable. And the Obama administration was not handed “a mess”  in Iraq.

One of the reasons the right wing blogosphere declared November 22, Victory in Iraq Day, back in Nov. 2008, was because we knew the MSM was never going to give President Bush the credit for winning the war:

I don’t think that even the most hardened cynics among us at the time would have guessed that the Obama administration would eventually try to take credit for it.

Just shameless.

Wednesday’s Hero: Specialist Brandon K. Steffy

Specialist Brandon K. Steffy
23 years old from Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan
178th Military Police Detachment, 89th Military Police Brigade, III Corps
October 29, 2009

He came into to this world a rather large baby, so big the doctor thought that he’d just walk home with his mother. Brandon was well mannered, polite, and tough with a contagious laugh that lit up those around him. In 2005 he graduated from Brimley High School and in 2006 enlisted in the United States Army, following a tradition of family military service.

He served in Iraq as a gunner from May 2007 until July 2008 and was deployed to Afghanistan in June 2009 where he was a canine tracker handler for Forward operating Base Fenty Kennel in the Laghman Province. He and his K-9 dog Maci were inseparable, working on tracking terrorists; Maci specialized in tracking the scents of IED making materials.

Spc. Brandon Steffy was killed when the vehicle he was riding in was attacked. His decorations and awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal-Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Spc. Steffy is survived by his wife, daughter, parents and his sister.

Brandon made people laugh and he made them cry. There was not one dry eye at his funeral, from every day townsfolk, to big construction workers to police officers; they all recalled Brandon, this “Gentle Giant.” They want everyone to know that if you never knew Brandon, then you really missed out.

Why Does Obama Have A Known *Pervert Gay Activist (I changed my mind again)PERVERT For His “Safe Schools” Czar?

I’m not derelict on this story, myself,  having mentioned it in a post, a whole week ago. I just was hoping that this disgusting story, which to me, is even more egregious than the Van Jones story, would have taken on a life of its own, this ridiculous oxymoronic czar would have gone down in flames by now, and I wouldn’t have to spend any more time on it. But no.  Kevin Jennings still seems to be employed by the White House – and is still in charge of keeping schools safe.

So let’s recap.

Jennings failed to report a case of statutory rape of a *15 year old who confided in him that he had had sex with a much older man at a train station. Jennings’ did express concern that the boy use a condom.

Jennings wrote the forward to a book called “Queering Elementary Education”.  Bonus: Another familiar face wrote one of the endorsements on the book jacket—Bill Ayers. Ayers, of course, is the former Weather Underground bomber, an Obama pal, and ghostwriter, who worked with him on school related boards in Chicago during the nineties.

Jennings’ organization, GLSEN sponsored (at least one) conference where homosexual activists instructed children age 14 and up on how to perform homosexual acts. How bad was it? When a recording from one of these conferences became public, the firestorm that ensued became known as “fistgate”.

Audio tape from the conference, here.

*According to Mass Resistance:

GLSEN is part of the tax-supported Massachusetts Commission on Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender Youth. (In fact, GLSEN’s membership in that commission is mandated by law!)

*Also according to Mass Resistance:

GLSEN (and Kevin Jennings) did not dispute that the recordings were genuine or that the events did not take place as we described them. Instead, they tried to get a court to ban the tape and sue us. In fact, Jennings defended the event.

Even Bertha Lewis, the Executive Director of ACORN had the sense to condemn the enabling  of underage prostitution after the ACORN prostitution controversy erupted.

Jennings in 1997 reportedly praised Harry Hay, noted supporter of of the North American Association for Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), which promotes the legalization of sexual abuse of young boys by older men. You can read the transcript of Jennings asserting that “one of the people that’s always inspired me is Harry Hay”, here.

*(Update):A good biography, The Real Harry Hay, was written at The Boston Phoenix upon his death in 2002:

Notable: That group he formed, the Mattachine Society, which Jennings referred to in the  speech, appears to have kicked Hays out in 1954 because he was too radical for them.

He was also a lifelong Communist who was booted out of the party in the early ’50s.

The  article also mentions his support for NAMBLA:

He was, at times, a serious political embarrassment, as when he consistently advocated the inclusion of the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) in gay-pride parades.

In his own determined, often irritating, manner, Harry Hay resisted becoming a model homosexual hero. Nowhere was this more evident than in Hay’s persistent support of NAMBLA’s right to march in gay-pride parades. In 1994, he refused to march with the official parade commemorating the Stonewall riots in New York because it refused NAMBLA a place in the event. Instead, he joined a competing march, dubbed The Spirit of Stonewall, which included NAMBLA as well as many of the original Gay Liberation Front members. Even many of Hay’s more dedicated supporters could not side with him on this.

Obama’s “Safe Schools Czar” said he was inspired by him.

Zombie uncovers evidence that Harry Hay was indeed “very deeply” involved with NAMBLA.

Not someone to be inspired by.

Jennings has a history of ridiculing and demeaning Christians: Reportedly said of Christians—“ F___ ‘em” while speaking at Marble Collegiate Church in March of 2000.

Goodness gracious me. Doesn’t Obama vet these Czars he has working for him, at all?  Or….is it possible he has exactly the sort of people he wants in these positions?

I was reminded of a minor Obama controversy during the election campaign. Remember Obama’s outrage and indignation over the McCain campaign’s attack ad over Obama’s vote in the Il Senate for a sex education bill? The ad charged that the bill included sex education to kindergartners. Obama said it only would have taught “good touch, bad touch” to children that young. Not true.

For your edification: Obama supported Sex Ed For Kindergarteners, The Video:

People didn’t want to believe this about Barack Obama at the time. Can they believe it now?

Ann Coulter had some suggestions for Obama on the Sean Hannity  show, tonight:

POWIP covers CNN reporter’s attempt to whitewash the story. Get ready for the homophobe smears. Who are the whistleblowers, here? Pro life, pro-family groups? I hope they’re girding their loins.

Lefty apologists like Media Matters are apparently focusing on the age of the boy, Brewster, whom Jennings has stated was 15 years old  when the alleged public bathroom sex with the older man took place, making it statutory rape. They claim he was 16, past the age of consent.

Warren Throckmorton asks:

Does Brewster’s age matter?

I ask, what about “Fistgate”? What about the alleged admiration for a renowned pedophile …etc?

The strong language used in the title of this post was in no way meant to imply that Mr. Jennings is a pedophile, himself.  It was meant to imply that he appears to be comfortable with his group promoting what most Americans would consider sexually perverted behavior to school children. He is the founder and executive director of GLSEN,  an organization that sponsored conferences where children as young as 14 were exposed to explanations of depraved practices, and in one instance, it was caught on tape.  I think it’s fair to wonder about all of the conferences and workshops sponsored by GLSEN that have not been caught on tape. As for Jennings’ purported admiration (based on transcript linked to above) for NAMBLA supporter, Harry Hays, I think that  speaks for itself.

At any rate, I chose to reword the title of my post to eliminate any confusion. No, I don’t think he himself, is a pedophile.  I do consider him to be a pervert.

UPDATE (12/6/09):

I changed my title to reflect that he (yes indeed!) is unambiguously a pervert, especially in light of recent revelations. The man has no business having a position with influence over kids, and Obama had no business appointing him to such a position.

Here’s a video from a June press conference about the Jennings appointment, conducted by Americans For Truth:

A website has been set up to advocate the firing of Jennings as Obama’s Safe Schools Czar:

Click Here to Tell Obama and Congress that Kevin Jennings Has No Place in the Department of Education.

Mr. Jennings has been appointed by the President as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Department of Education’s Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools. His supporters claim that he will only establish programs to combat bullying.  If that were true, it would be a worthy cause. Bullying for any reason is is wrong, and schools should never tolerate it.  But time and again, Mr. Jennings has used the cover of “bullying prevention” to enforce his radical positions on sex education.   The idea that we need the “queering” of elementary education in order to teach children that bullying is wrong is as absurd as it is offensive.

Is Obama Creating A Shadow Government?

czarsVia: Redstate

Mark Rudd is a former SDS/Weather Underground member who’s friendly with many of Obama’s radical friends from Chicago. He currently serves on the board of the Movement for a Democratic Society (MDS), the parent body of Progressives For Obama, a leading far left umbrella group that supported Obama’s presidential campaign, and continues to support his Presidency.

Last December,  Trevor Loudon, (the NZ blogger who nailed Van jones) noticed a compelling entry from Rudd’s blog:

Our job now is to organize both inside and outside the Demo party. There’s already a big battle in the Demo party at every level. Here in the New Mexico State Legislature, the progressives are challenging the conservative Dems for leadership; the same is true in Congress. If you can’t stand to work in the party, work on putting mass pressure on issues such as healthcare and jobs and the war from outside.

Here’s my mantra: “Let’s put this country on our shoulders and get to work.”

…Leave the military alone because they’re way too powerful. For now, until enough momentum is raised…you have to be able to look like you’re doing one thing but do another. That’s why all these conservative appointments are important: the strategy is feint to the right, move left…Look to the second level appointments. There’s a whole govt. in waiting that Podesta has at the Center for American Progress. They’re mostly progressives…”

Andrew McCarthy had predicted the same thing back in November about Obama’s 2nd level appointments:

I expect the Obama appointment strategy to be two-fold . . . and clever. Step One: Establish the precedent for easy confirmations with ostensibly moderate, center-left nominees who are popular enough in the senate that the RINO bloc will quickly get on board. This would establish a working coalition for Obama in the upper chamber (not just on nominations but on legislation) and discourage the remaining GOP ranks from using the filibuster or other procedural stalls.

Step Two: Obama will move the country leftward with the appointments that really matter in government: the hundreds of second- and third-tier (and below) executive agency appointments — the deputy-secretaries, under-secretaries, and associate-this or -that for policy, etc., who work where the rubber of big government meets the road. They are the ones who implement policy, who have a huge hidden role in making policy, and who control the hiring of the thousands of federal employees who do not require confirmation.

Who could have predicted that Obama’s lurch to the left would go far beyond filling low level cabinet positions with far lefties. Obama has gone over the heads of his Cabinet, and created dozens of new positions, known as czars, creating positions that already have counterparts in the Cabinet…positions that some are saying make up a “shadow government”.

He’s created anywhere from 29 (according to the Politico) to 32 (Glenn Beck) to 44 (American daughter) Czar positions.

One reason for the discrepancy is because of the unclear definition of “Czar”.   Ed Morrissey, argues that a Czar does not have to go through a Senate confirmation, so someone like Cass Sunstein who is currently going through the confirmation process is considered a special adviser to the President, not a Czar. On the other hand, Michelle Malkin has called him a “Czar nominee (who is subject to confirmation hearings)”.

At any rate, there has been an unprecedentedly large number of folks appointed to positions in the executive branch, who do not have any Congressional oversight whatsoever, in Obama’s first nine months as President. So what the heck is going on here?

Anthony Martin of the Examiner believes this “bodes ill for citizens who value liberty and the Constitution”:

I postulated a theory yesterday that maintains Obama is forming a ‘shadow government’ that could, at any moment, replace the Cabinet, Congress, and the Supreme Court.  The sheer number of these shadow government officials strongly suggests that their presence in the White House is more than just a casual, friendly ‘advisory’ relationship with the President.  Rather, the scenario that is developing indicates the attempt by an American President to pull an ‘end-run’ around the legislative and judicial branches of government.

Glenn Beck has hinted at something similarly nefarious on his show.

Michelle Malkin calls them “Czars of Obama’s underworld”,

The Obama administration has created a two-tiered government—fronted by Cabinet secretaries able to withstand public scrutiny (some of them, just barely) and then managed behind the scenes by shadow secretaries with broad powers beyond congressional reach. Bureaucratic chaos serves as a useful smokescreen to obscure the true source of policy decision-making.

She reports today, that a Democrat Rep opposes the Czar system, and has in fact called for their dismissals:

U.S. Rep. Dan Boren said Congress should use the power of the purse to push the Obama administration to remove so-called czars that do not go through a confirmation process.

Responding to questions during a telephonic town hall, the Oklahoma Democrat said he was glad Van Jones, who resigned over the weekend as controversy continued to build over past statements, has left his post.

Senator Byrd came out early against the Czars, writing a letter to Obama, back in February:

In a letter to Obama on Wednesday, Byrd, a Democrat, said that the czar system “can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances,” Politico reported. Byrd added that oversight of federal agencies is the responsibility of officials approved by the Senate.

“As presidential assistants and advisers, these White House staffers are not accountable for their actions to the Congress, to cabinet officials, or to virtually anyone but the president,” Byrd wrote. “They rarely testify before congressional committees, and often shield the information and decision-making process behind the assertion of executive privilege. In too many instances, White House staff have been allowed to inhibit openness and transparency, and reduce accountability.”

A couple of Republicans jumped on board the anti-Green Czar bandwagon at the last minute to call for Van Jones’ resignation. Maybe some Republican leaders (hello Michael Steele?) could be so bold as to ask for all of their resignations?

Of course, there’s always plan B, as posited by Clarice Feldman at The American Thinker:

Since it appears Congress is yet unwilling to insist on the preservation of its Constitutional prerogatives and the White House unlikely to change course on its own, I take it it’s up to what we call the alternative media to keep plodding ahead and picking off  one by one those Czars who are manifestly unsuitable for these posts. < blockquote>

Perhaps it’s wrong to say that Obama is forming a shadow government. As Jackstraw suggests, perhaps the person responsible is a puppetmaster with deep pockets, shaping the agenda from behind the scenes.
