Because I Always Expect A PRIVATE Institution to Accomodate My Different Faith When I Voluntarily Attend It…

Because it would be totally reasonable for me to attend a PRIVATE Islamic university and expect them to provide a chapel on the grounds for me, right? Right?

New charges have recently been filed against the [Catholic] University [of America] on counts of illegal discrimination against its Muslim and female students. The allegations are being reviewed by the District of Colombia Office of Human Rights (OHR), which has the strictest discrimination laws in the country. President John H. Garvey and the University is being urged to respond to the charges.

————————————————

The official allegations claim that CUA, “does not provide space – as other universities do – for the many daily prayers Muslim students must make, forcing them instead to find temporarily empty classrooms where they are often surrounded by Catholic symbols which are incongruous to their religion,” according to a press release on PRLOG.com.

If I were the University Board of Regents, and the Provost, I think I’d come to the conclusion that perhaps there is no need for these students to return next semester. But maybe that’s because I know there would be no reciprocity at an Islamic University.

Video: Pandemonium As WI Assembly passes budget-repair Bill

The vote wasn’t even close, and they had an unprecedented amount of time to debate the bill,   but the Dems still pretend they have the right to be morally outraged.

Ed Morrissey reports:

In the end, the bill that frightened off the entire Democratic caucus in the Wisconsin state Senate passed easily in the lower chamber, 51-17, in what had been a foregone conclusion:

After a bitter, 61-hour debate that was the longest in living memory, the sleep-starved state Assembly voted in just seconds early Friday to approve a watershed proposal repealing most union bargaining rights held by public workers.

Just after 1 a.m., Republicans cut off debate on Gov. Scott Walker’s bill and in pell-mell fashion the body voted 51-17 to pass it. In the confusion, nearly one-third of the body – 28 lawmakers including 25 Democrats, two Republicans and the body’s lone independent – did not vote on the bill at all.

Watch this stunning video of their reaction to the vote.  It sounds like the monkey cage at the zoo after a wolverine has snuck in. I am not kidding – they don’t even sound human:

For more unhinged video reactions, including a woman claiming that the vote means death for her, see The Blaze.

Obama To Dem Congressmen: “You’re Going to Destroy My Presidency”!

Mr. “This is not about me” is clearly losing it.

The National Journal reports this morning:

Grassley said he spoke with a Democratic House member last week who shared Obama’s bleak reaction during a private meeting to reports that some factions of House Democrats were lining up to stall or even take down the overhaul unless leaders made major changes.

“Let’s just lay everything on the table,” Grassley said. “A Democrat congressman last week told me after a conversation with the president that the president had trouble in the House of Representatives, and it wasn’t going to pass if there weren’t some changes made … and the president says, ‘You’re going to destroy my presidency.’ “

Think about this:

With the Dems’ help, he’s been spectacularly successful at destroying  the U.S. economy. But the  fact that this disaster is effecting his approval ratings and causing the saner Dems to step on the breaks, is all the Narcissist in Chief cares about!

Congressional Dems “frustrated” and “baffled”…

Via The Political Ticker:

As the prospects for passing health reform by the time Congress leaves for its August recess look bleaker, Democratic grumbling about President Obama is growing louder. One Democratic senator tells CNN congressional Democrats are “baffled,” and another senior Democratic source tells CNN members of the president’s own party are still “frustrated” that they’re not getting more specific direction from him on health care. “We appreciate the rhetoric and his willingness to ratchet up the pressure but what most Democrats on the Hill are looking for is for the president to weigh in and make decisions on outstanding issues.

What’s the matter? Did Pelosi run out of money to bribe them with?

How unpopular is ObamaCare getting? This unpopular:

Rasmussen: 53% oppose ObamaCare

The health care reform legislation working its way through Congress has lost support over the past month. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 44% of U.S. voters are at least somewhat in favor of the reform effort while 53% are at least somewhat opposed.

Obama will try to resuscitate his plan in tonight’s press conference. Keef and Tingles are counting down the minutes. (link fixed).

The GITMO Teen Interrogation Video

This video of the teenager being interrogated at GITMO has the lefties all up in arms. Keep in mind the wee naif was captured on a battlefield in Afghanistan after throwing a grenade that killed a US soldier:

I can see why liberals’ hearts are bleeding: “You don’t care about me…” he sobs. His interrogator surprisingly said, “Yes, I do care”.

What I see here is an individual who obviously feels very sorry for himself, but I don’t know that he feels any remorse for his own actions. I also don’t see any evidence of torture, although he has made the standard al Qaeda-coached claim of such. He tells them he lost his eyes, he lost his feet…” which makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever.

I see a civil, and patient interrogator, which is key, because he didn’t know he was being videotaped.

His U.S. military attorney, Lt. Cmdr. William Kuebler, told Canadian Television that the video had been shot over four days through a heating vent in the wall.

At a news conference Tuesday, a Pentagon spokesman said Khadr has not been mistreated.

“Our policy is to treat detainees humanely, and Khadr has been treated humanely,” Navy Cmdr. J.D. Gordon said.

Asked about allegations that Khadr was sleep-deprived to weaken him before the Canadian interrogation, Gordon said: “We don’t respond to every allegation. He was treated humanely.”

Gordon also was asked about defense lawyers’ efforts to get Khadr returned to Canada.

“We believe Khadr should be held accountable for his actions. His trial date has been set for October,” Gordon said. “The charges are grave.”

It’s all very unfortunate, but maybe he should have been spending his teenage years engaged in more wholesome activities?

UPDATE:

Anyone interested in hearing about Sgt. 1st Class Christopher J. Speer, whom Khadr killed? Can the left spare a few tears for him, too?

Cry Me A River, Chumps

Lefties at Daily Kos, DU, FiredogLake and even Barack Obama’s own website (heh!) are rending their garments and gnashing their teeth over their Messiah’s latest betrayal (move toward sanity) on the FISA bill. Comments are ranging from *hilarious:

…while Obama voted for it. It is past time to through this DINO over and bigin a draft Hillary effort. The time is not too late. I beseech everyone to join me in taking this fight all the way to Denver. We cannot allow this man who has broken every promise he has made to us to become our Democratic nominee, it is fast becoming an abomination.

to paranoid delusional:

I have something I want to put on Ebay. It’s the “Obama ’08” sticker I ripped from my car’s back window today and threw in my trash can. What’s it worth? Can I be arrested, tortured and killed by my government for doing that? Oh, that’s right, the Military Commissions Act said so. Congress passed it. Can this typed message be copied by my government? Oh yeah, thanks Barack and GOP. Now that we have trashed the Constitution and laughed off that old Magna Charta, can Mr. 28% and Senator Obama of the 9% Club keep the good times rolling. Look-out

1930’s Germany! Here we come…

to heartbreaking:

Look Barack- me and lots of other lefty grassroots types, you know, the one who are reponsible for your massive turnouts and record fuidraising, are really pisssed off at you for gettting FISA wrong. Hey- we know you have to do some “righty” pandering- ( I can live with the handguns reversal ) but what the fuck? FISA? You and all you dumb ass buddies on capitol hill just took a massive dump on the 4th amendment, and for what? AM I missing something? Is there some surprise coming that I am unaware of? Are you going to like say “psyche” or something all of a sudden? I have raised over 1500.00 for your campaign and have donated at least 300 of my own in cash as well as countless hours working “gratis”to register voters and spread the mesage of hope and change and this is what you give me? Im a township captain for Christ Sake and Im beginning to question your integrity- big time! Please do somehing soon to revive my waining faith in your because right now, Nader looks damn good. Please Barack-

Rich Lowry calmly explains how it is to these starry eyed rubes whose faiths have been so shaken:

In the past few weeks, Obama has broken two pledges (to take public financing in the general election and to filibuster legal immunity for telecoms that cooperated with the government in terrorist surveillance); has belittled his own rhetoric during the primary campaign (saying it could get “overheated and amplified” on the issue of trade); redefined his promise to meet without preconditions with the leaders of hostile states until it’s basically meaningless; endorsed a Supreme Court decision striking down a Washington, D.C., gun ban his campaign had previously said he supported; and made muddy, centrist-sounding statements about his positions on Iraq and abortion that he had to go back and try to clarify.

Has there ever in recent political memory been so much calculation and bad faith by a politician who has made so much of eschewing both? We now know that Barack Obama is not naive, but his ardent supporters are. Obama exhorted them to “believe” — one of his favorite words — in him and his virtue above all, and as soon as they gave him the nomination he wanted, he showed how foolishly credulous they had been. When it comes to triangulating, he’s Hillary Clinton without the baggage.

You see…Barack knows these lefty chumps are going to come out in droves to vote for him, anyway. And he’s right. They will. They may be crying in their coffees today, but all will be forgiven by November, and they’ll be more than happy to pull that lever for him.

Although Obama’s fund-raising goose may be cooked.

Cat from Cathouse Chat recently came across this monument to Obama’s growing list of lies and flip flops while on vacation in Hawaii:

At first I figured that some Republican activist set that up…but then I changed my mind. It’s probably one of those disaffected Obamaniacs who did it.

HEH.
