Lt. Col. Ralph Peters: The Only Decision Obama is Able to Make, “Is Which Golf Clubs to Use” (Video)

Lt. Col. Ralph Peters appeared on Fox News Wednesday to give his take on Obama’s strategy (or lack thereof) to handle ISIS. As always, Peters didn’t hold back, accusing the president of being a “minimalist” and a “procrastinator” – taking the minimum action he can get away with. And he scorched the president for continuing to leak sensitive military secrets for his own political benefit.

Asked if Obama’s focus on protecting specific American interests in Iraq was a strategy that will work, Peters replied disdainfully, “I think this president is narrowly focused on protecting his reputation – what’s left of it – and I’m furious.” He continued, “we have no strategy. We have nothing that pretends to be a strategy. There is no integrated concept of how to deal with ISIS let alone the metastasizing threats across the Middle East and Northern Africa. The administration continues to see everything in terms of political advantage.”

He gave the latest example of the problem. “Classic case – We should not know that there are surveillance drones over Syria, but the administration purposefully leaked it because they want to say – well we’re doing something! And by telling … ISIS that we’re surveilling them with drones, it says get ready – hide your vehicles, disperse, get the human shields ready. It flies in the face of all military common sense and decency. I mean – what’s the big difference between this administration leaking stuff and Ed Snowden at this point? It’s just disgraceful.”

Asked why we haven’t taken out their base in Syria, yet, “Peters said, because the president is a minimalist. He always want to do the minimum – not for the security of the United States, but the minimum he can get away with. He’s not a doer. He’s a talker. He’s at heart a very timid man, a Hamlet – forever “to be or not to be.” He will go down in history as the great procrastinator.

He hammered Obama for lying about the lack of intelligence on ISIS – which Peters called a lie. And he again warned the administration that they had better get their act together and fast.

“The Islamic Caliphate is a far greater threat – a bigger, richer, more powerful, more numerous threat – than al Qaeda ever was,” he said.

Peters noted that “the president himself used the word cancer to describe the Islamic Caliphate – and cancer doesn’t get better on its own. First, he tried for over a year to ignore this cancer. Now, he wants to shave off little pieces of the tumor. But it’s a malignant tumor, and it’s growing fast. He added, “he didn’t keep us out of a war – he delayed our entry into a war – left us unprepared, cutting our military, the Islamic State and other Islamic terrorist groups grow ever stronger. It’s no longer a classic terrorist web of cells the Islamic State is now a Caliphate – a proto-state with an army that’s well-equipped, well-organized, well-trained, and veteran – and they’re running all over everybody else on the ground…”

In the face of all this, Peters concluded, the only decision that guy is able to make, “is which golf clubs to use.”
