The My Barack Obama Community Blograge

I followed with amusement the outings of numerous, shall we say…problematic My Barack Obama community blogs, as covered by Little Green Footballs, and See Dubya at Michelle Malkin over the weekend.

I had taken note of some of the more outrageous blogs, myself in the past, and had even posted screenshots of them. Some of the blogs, I strongly suspected were hoaxes, but one that wasn’t was the first one that came to my attention, back in March:

The New Black Panthers:

Malik Zulu Shabazz was a registered team member and blogger on Obama’s campaign website until the Obama campaign scrubbed his site.

Aaron Klein interviewed Shabazz for WND:

“I think the way Obama responded to the attack on him (Rev. Wright) and the attempt to sabotage his campaign shows true leadership and character. He had a chance to denounce his pastor and he didn’t fall for the bait. He stood up and addressed real issues of racial discord,” stated Shabazz

“I have nothing but respect for Obama and for his pastor,” said Shabazz, referring to Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor of nearly 20 years.

I only mention this because one of the excuses used by Obama’s people is that the freedom of access to the My Obama community blogs was making it easy for Republican dirty tricksters. That may explain are few of them, but not the NBP site, nor many many more like the Socialists for Obama site which is still in up as of late Monday night.

I think that the My Barack Obama community blogs are a good reflection of the type of people who support Obama, and let’s face it, there seems to be a disproportionate number of unsavory characters from the general population who support Obama. As See Dubya said:

I mean, they see something there. Despite Obama’s lackadaisical, flip-floppy attempts to show support for Israel (which cost him that Hamas endorsement!) Israel hating socialists like George Galloway still see him as the clear choice. So do a lot of interesting people: Ayers. Pfleger. Wright. Ortega. Chavez. El-Hady. Castro. Khalidi. FARC.

What is there that draws terrorists, Communists, Jew-bashers, thugs, lugs, dregs, gunslingers, hustlers, rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, and Methodists to Obama’s campaign like flies to an oyster bar’s dumpster in August?

After the New Black Panther blog received notoriety, an Obama blogger weighed in indignantly:

Apparently, today was a slow news day.

So Fox News evidently decided to pore through our millions of user-created pages on My.BarackObama.com and put a screenshot of inflammatory content on the front page of FoxNews.com.

You see, more than 700,000 people have created accounts on the system. You can create one right now if you choose, in about a minute — anyone can.

Now, from time to time people get up to no good — creating fake profiles (like one for Sean Hannity created today), or posting profane or inappropriate content. When they do, the community reports the offending content and if it violates our terms of service it is removed (as the Sean Hannity profile was).

My.BarackObama.com has been at the core of our bottom-up organizing strategy. The tools available have been put to work by a community of supporters that is bigger and more powerful than anything presidential politics has ever seen.

Evidently, Fox News didn’t think it was a big deal that hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans are participating in the democratic process creating groups and local events in communities all across the country.

But they did think it was a big deal that one random person on the Internet, without the knowledge of the Obama campaign, posted a profile in the system with the image of the New Black Panther Party on it.

When we were alerted of the existence of this page, we pulled it down. Yet even after we pulled the page, Fox News continues to disingenuously and prominently feature this “story” on their homepage.

That little hissy fit was issued by Obama’s official blogger, Sam Graham-Felsen, of Reds Who Support Obama fame.

He has a My Barack Obama community blog, too.

  1. I’m not so sure it is entirely an obama phenomenon when it comes to attracting seedy characters.

I promise, that if you ever visit any Maximum Custody Prison, you will find the population claims affinity with democrats by over a 95% margin. Interestingly the same numerical representation that you find in Journalists, and University Professors.

The key is, to figure out exactly what these seemingly different groups have in common that places them on identical ideological paths.

Someone please recruit a group of unemployed college age dope smokers to explore this theory in depth. Just thinking about it gives me a headache.

  3. I just enjoy posting a blog about Obama every now and again. After all, you haven’t lived until some dupe high on hope has called you a racist for simply questioning Obama’s claims to fostering unity and transcending race.
