Video: Someone In The MSM Finally Gets The Oslo Killer Story Right

And surprisingly, it’s Bill O’Reilly, who’s usually slow to pick up on emerging news that counters the media narrative.

The MSM has been quick to jump on the supposition that Oslo mass murderer Anders Breivik was a Christian extremist,  pushing the meme to the extreme in story after story without a shred of evidence to back it up.

O’Reilly smelled a rat, and called the MSM out:

Text via Gateway Pundit:

Now, on Sunday, the “New York Times” headlined “As Horrors Emerged, Norway Charges Christian extremist”. A number of other news organizations like the “LA Times” and Reuters also played up the Christian angle. But Breivik is not a Christian. That’s impossible. No one believing in Jesus commits mass murder. The man might have called himself a Christian on the net, but he is certainly not of that faith.

Also Breivik is not attached to any church, and in fact has criticized the Protestant belief system in general. The Christian angle came from a Norwegian policeman not from any fact finding. Once again, we can find no evidence, none, that this killer practiced Christianity in any way.

So why is the angle being played up? Two reasons: First, the liberal media wants to make an equivalency between the actions of Breivik and the Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh and al Qaeda. The left wants you to believe that fundamentalists Christians are a threat just like crazy jihadists are.

In fact, in the “New York Times” today an analysis piece says that some believe we have overreacted to the Muslim threat in the world. Of course, that’s absurd. Jihadists have killed tens of thousands of people all over the world. The Taliban, Iran and elements in Pakistan use governmental power to support terrorism by Muslims. But the left-wing press wants to compare nuts like Breivik and McVeigh to state-sponsored terrorism and worldwide jihad.

Again, dishonest and insane.

Indeed, it appears that the words “Christian” and “Conservative” were added to Breivik’s Facebook Page Jul 22, 2011 23:52:36. Is that not how lefties roll?

The MSM has been quick to implicate anti-Jihad bloggers like Robert Spencer and Pamela Gellar in the mass murders, because of a passing reference in  the killer’s 1,516-page manifesto, but anti-Jihadis abhor violence by definition. SIOE (Stop Islamisation of Europe) had barred suspected Norway Shooter from it’s forum because he was a neo-Nazi. Obama was referenced favorably, as well, not that anyone in their right minds would blame him for the killings. The Killer was apparently a Lizardoid, too, but chances are good that Charles Johnson will escape scrutiny from the accusing eyes of the MSM now that he’s become a member in good standing of the Democratic Media Complex.

Via Atlas Shrugs, Robert Spencer wrote:

“This disgusting neo-Nazi, excluded from SIOE because of his Nazi ties, epitomizes the disrespect for life and the contempt for humane values that terrorism embodies, and that we have dedicated our lives to resisting. Whether the challenge to human rights and to the dignity of the human person comes from neo-Nazis or Islamic supremacists, we are determined to continue to resist it, and to do everything in our power to defend the principles of freedom upon which the best of human civilization has always been based.”

What more needs to be said?

  1. Even O’Reilly still isn’t getting the full story right, assuming I understand his own supposition.

McVeigh was a self-avowed agnostic* and was very vocal about his beliefs when questioned. So at best, the liberal media whether they understand this or not, is trying to make a moral equivalency between Neo-Nazism, agnosticism and Al-Qaeda.

Hardly the conclusion they are seeking.

McVeigh is agnostic. He doesn’t believe in God, but he won’t rule out the possibility. I asked him, “What if there is a heaven and hell?”

He said that once he crosses over the line from life to death, if there is something on the other side, he will — and this is using his military jargon — “adapt, improvise, and overcome.” Death to him is all part of the adventure.

  2. It wouldn’t matter if the shooter was a pastor in some out-of-the-way little church with a white picket fence around it. By his actions he has let it be known that he is certainly not a Christian.

But that matters little now. The worldwide LSM has trumpeted that he is, people will start to lose interest in the story in about 35 more minutes and move on to something else, and all that is left is the memory that Christians are as bad as muslims and Christians kill others. That’s all the public needs to know as far as the LSM is concerned, whether it is true or not.

    Very “Rather-like.”
