DSCC Responds Lamely To Koch Bros Letter

Guy Cecil, Executive Director of Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee probably wishes he could affect the same sort of subtle, cordial but cutting humor deployed by Koch Industry’s clever President of Government & Public Affairs, Philip Ellender, yesterday, but alas, no. Good Gad, no. Cecil is a liberal clod who couldn’t resist the temptation to continue the left’s campaign of demagoguery and demonization of the Kochs in his letter – so his clumsy attempt at  sarcasm falls drastically flat.

Via Weasel Zippers:

Dear Phil:

Thank you for your genuine, heartfelt concern about our recent solicitation and your request for clarification. Indeed, the form letter and follow-up solicitation you received was a staff error.

However, the bigger and more troubling mistake is the long political history of your employer, the Koch Brothers. As a (former?) Democrat, perhaps your time would be better spent looking into their efforts to privatize Social Security or their opposition to expanding the children’s health insurance program. Or maybe, you can post a list of all of the anonymous contributions they have made to right-wing smear campaigns across the country. If you’d like to share voicemails from all the shady groups asking you for millions of dollars, we’d happily listen to those as well.

So, I write to make it clear that your invitation was an error and has been rescinded.

Sincerely,

Guy Cecil
Executive Director
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee

Note how he had the  audacity to use the term “right wing smear campaigns” after watching the left  viciously attack these two job producers and philanthropists for six months straight for nothing more than the sin of donating to conservative/libertarian causes…whipping up the drones into an irrational anti-Koch frenzy — because only progressive sugar daddies are allowed to make political donations, or something.

But he wasn’t through, folks. He saved his big “laugh line” for last:

P.S.: I was impressed how quickly you responded, given how often you must be on the phone with Governor Walker of Wisconsin.

Uh, yeah–leave the jokes to the professionals, next time, ‘kay pal?

Don’t ask me how I found this…but check out this other shining example of DSCC humor:

Proving once again how unserious Dems are about promoting a “new tone” in politics, those doggie tees are actually being pushed in the DSCC store. Let that sink in…They want people to clothe their pets in anti-Republican apparel. And not just one particular, perhaps unpopular Republican, but all of us. They want to direct the hatred toward all of us.

Am I the only one appalled by this?

Just kidding. I don’t really want my political leaders engaging in rhetoric like this. (But I don’t mind doing it, myself – to make a point.)

  1. If it was a mistake that they were shaking down the Kock brothers for donations why did they follow up with a personal phone call to invite them to Hawaii?

  2. Maybe Cecil should spend his time trying to explain to the eeeeeevvvviiiillll rethuglicans how a nation founded upon the ideals of independence, liberty, and resistance to tyranical government over-reach should not just accept, but embrace the idea that government can and should compel individuals to give up the fruits of their labor so that members of a political party can foster dependence by buying votes with it.

I don’t expect it to be sucessful, but at least the conversation would be starting in the right place.

  3. You know, if the Republicans pick Mitt for brains, I might just start to growl at them too. And if they cave in on sunday and leave We the People with an even larger debt ceiling that we KNOW will be hit before the year is out, I’ll do more than growl. But yes, I don’t think democrats have a low point, they are able to lower the bar everytime.

  5. I know there is a low point in the universe of jackass demagoguery. Unfortunately, I fear it is at the far end of the universe and they have several trillion light years to go, even at the speed of flashing-smile light they give mushminds to get their votes.

Their arrogance knows no bounds. Neither does there ability to step in it and turn around and say “What?”
