Monday Catch-Up: Lt. Col. Ralph Peters: Time To Play Whack-A-Mole

Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (Ret.), on Fox News yesterday, was asked what the right response to Islamic terrorism throughout the world.

“There is only one answer,” he began. “You kill the terrorists – these Islamic fanatics – and you keep on killing them for years and decades. You kill them in large groups, you kill them in small groups. And you kill them in onesies and twosies.

Peters noted that in Washington DC, the group-think is ‘you can’t play whack-a-mole.’

“Well, if you’re not going to play ‘whack-a-mole’ and kill them wherever you find them, you will lose.”

Evidence is mounting as sources with close ties to military intelligence saying that the Army has concluded its investigation and will in fact charge Bergdahl with desertion. What is in this evidence must include some of our findings which we will show again here which prove that the Bergdahls, both father and son, have left quite a trail to show their Taliban links.

The Obama administration of course has vigorously pushed back, saying there has been no decision to prosecute Bergdahl and that reports are way off base.

But how could Obama’s testimony that “reports are off base” be more credible than members of Bergdahl’s unit who served beside him came forward and told their version of Bergdahl’s military exploits said that not only he deserted his unit but took up with enemy forces. In fact, some of these voices came out right after the deal but were ignored.

For one thing, the Government Accountability Office says that if he really is a deserter, the trade to return him was illegal. For another, we know from the Army brass’ response to the Fort Hood massacre by Maj. Nidal Hasan — which is still classified as “workplace violence” — the Army’s own credibility is also under a cloud. But the question is, who is behind all this twisting if not for Obama? It was the White House who termed the Taliban as “Armed Insurgents” instead of “Terrorists,” a term that does not hold water.

Washington Times: Secret Benghazi report reveals Hillary’s Libya war push armed al Qaeda-tied terrorists:

Libyan officials were deeply concerned in 2011, as Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was trying to remove Moammar Gadhafi from power, that weapons were being funneled to NATO-backed rebels with ties to al Qaeda, fearing that well-armed insurgents could create a safe haven for terrorists, according to secret intelligence reports obtained by The Washington Times.

The reports included a 16-page list of weapons that Libyans supposedly tracked to the rebels from Western sources or their allies in the region. The memos were corroborated by a U.S. intelligence asset familiar with the documents as well as former top Gadhafi regime official Mohammed Ismael.

“NATO has given permission to a number of weapons-loaded aircraft to land at Benghazi airport and some Tunisian airports,” the intelligence report said, identifying masses of weapons including tanks and surface-to-air missiles.

That report, which was prepared in English so it could be passed by a U.S. intelligence asset to key members of Congress, identified specific air and sea shipments observed by Libyan intelligence moving weapons to the rebels trying to unseat the Gadhafi regime.

President Obama said Monday he will reject any budget from Congress that doesn’t boost spending on both defense and his own domestic priorities, saying the spending “sequesters” need to go.”America can’t afford being short-sighted and I’m not going to allow it,” the president said while speaking at the Homeland Security Department as he released his $4 trillion budget for fiscal 2016.
His budget calls for boosting discretionary spending by more than 6 percent, and raising taxes to pay for it.

Protests against the influence of the Koch brothers have broken out anew in reaction to the announcement that they plan to spend $890 million on the upcoming presidential campaign. Yet even their non-political giving has garnered opposition—most recently in the wake of an announced $1.75 million grant to the Catholic University of America.

Grant Gallicho, a writer for Commonweal who thinks it is fine for Catholics to pay for abortion but not for libertarians to pay for Catholic education, repeats worries from a group of theologians that this sends “a confusing message to Catholic students and other faithful Catholics that the Koch brothers’ anti-government, Tea Party ideology has the blessing of a university sanctioned by Catholic bishops.”
