Obama’s Truth Meter

There’s been much commentary on the President’s commencement speech at Hampton University, Sunday. While many people focused on  Obama’s claim that he doesn’t know how to use an ipod, that fuddyduddy! – (uh huh) – my head was exploding over his  comments concerning his “truth meter”.  Since I was in no mood to cover Obama’s allergy to the truth, (yet again), I focused on other things…like cute kittens!

Luckily, Peter Wehner at Commentary has it pretty much covered. Here’s what Obama said :

You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank that high on the truth meter. And with iPods and iPads; and Xboxes and PlayStations — none of which I know how to work — (laughter) — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation. So all of this is not only putting pressure on you; it’s putting new pressure on our country and on our democracy.

So coming right out of the box, he lied about not knowing how to use an ipod. Who loads his Bob Dylan, Yo-Yo Ma,  Sheryl Crow, and  Jay-Z  songs, I wonder? Michelle? There’s a reason why some have nicknamed the President, “Captain Bullshit”, and it has nothing to do with his race. It has everything to do with the fact that even when complaining about other peoples’ purported lies, he lies!

So, allowing you to compete in the global economy is the first way your education can prepare you. But it can also prepare you as citizens. With so many voices clamoring for attention on blogs, and on cable, on talk radio, it can be difficult, at times, to sift through it all; to know what to believe; to figure out who’s telling the truth and who’s not. Let’s face it, even some of the craziest claims can quickly gain traction. I’ve had some experience in that regard.

Yes, it can be difficult at times to sift through it all when someone  keeps brazenly lying to your face.

Wehner goes through a whole laundry list of  them from just the health care debate. How many people are still fooled by this act?

Remember how poor aggrieved Obama  had to create a “Fight the Smears” website during the election to push back on the awful lies (ie-truth) people were telling about him… like the one about how he had more than a passing acquaintance  with Weather Underground terrorist, Bill Ayers. What a thing to say!

Seriously. Obama was happy to be pegged as the hipster candidate with his ipod and blackberry throughout the 2008 election year, when he needed the youth vote. But now that he’s President, and bleeding older white male supporters, he’s all golfy and tech-challenged. If his non tech savviness can be compared to Poppy Bush’s supermarket scanner moment, so much the better. There’s something non threatening about a guy who’s a little behind the times. Such a person would never lie to you, or employ Cloward Piven strategy to destroy the economy.

Needless to say – – I call BS!

  1. I love that cat thing. It is strangely captivating.

But, yeah, President Chump is basically full of it worse than most politicians

Here’s another BS meter, though, I can never get images to embed in comments

  2. So I take it from this that you’re actually taking what he’s saying at face value rather than seeing that it’s just his attempt at ironic humor and self deprecitiation…way to take a situation out of context.

  3. Huh! I SEE!

This was an example of Obama using his well known “ironic, self- deprecating” humor! Because if Obama is known for anything…it’s self deprecation!

Are we allowed to take anything Obama says at face value?

  4. Of course Jugears is funny. His remark about Arizona’s 1070 law was funny as hell. I hope he keeps crackin the jokes. Maybe he can tell a joke about the 4 innocent U.S. citizens killed by an illegal immigrant who not only was here illegally, but had 3 prior DUI arrests in our country. Yea, he’s really “self-deprecating”. I love it…really!

  5. wow, really? an article about Obama ‘lying’ about his usage of an ipod? really? did you think this one through? he should be impeached? yes. really? are you proud of yourself? i understand that to you, this just another example of how he simply lies, all the time, straight to your face, so you have to bring it up. really, it is an important fact. you sure did convince me that Obama can never to be trusted. really!

  6. I would love for him to be impeached, it is true. However, nowhere did I day that.

Btw, the article wasn’t about Obama lying about his ipod. That’s actually one of his more trivial lies, just one of many documented lies.

It doesn’t bother you that Obama lies constantly? Or you don’t believe that he lies? What in God’s name would it take to convince you????

  7. Obama will sacrifice any truth in order to make a point. He’s a stalwart practitioner of “fake but accurate.”

Obviously not, or you wouldn’t be dwelling on the point. But it is an example of the fact that there is no lie to small for him to tell. I’d expect he’d point that out himself, as he oversees the most transparent White House EVAR!, but his staff is still stonewalling the FOIA requests. Go figure.

  9. I know it took like 5 months or so for the FOIA request for the information about Scare Force 1 to be processed. And it was still devoid of the passenger manifest, which is what I wanted.
