Iowahawk: Election Analysis: America Can Take Pride In This Historic, Inspirational Disaster:

Although I have not always been the most outspoken advocate of President-Elect Barack Obama, today I would like to congratulate him and add my voice to the millions of fellow citizens who are celebrating his historic and frightening election victory. I don’t care whether you are a conservative or a liberal — when you saw this inspiring young African-American rise to our nation’s highest office I hope you felt the same sense of patriotic pride that I experienced, no matter how hard you were hyperventilating with deep existential dread.

Yes, I know there are probably other African-Americans much better qualified and prepared for the presidency. Much, much better qualified. Hundreds, easily, if not thousands, and without any troubling ties to radical lunatics and Chicago mobsters. Gary Coleman comes to mind. But let’s not let that distract us from the fact that Mr. Obama’s election represents a profound, positive milestone in our country’s struggle to overcome its long legacy of racial divisions and bigotry. It reminds us of how far we’ve come, and it’s something everyone in our nation should celebrate in whatever little time we now have left.

Weasel Zippers: Time Reporter: Dear Leader’s Background Lets Him “Think In More Complex Terms” Than Mortal Men…

Same president who “umms” and “uhhs” his way through unscripted remarks.

Via Mediaite:

TIME Magazine reporter Jon Meacham joined MSNBC host Chris Matthews on Monday for President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. Both Meacham and Matthews compared Obama to President Ronald Reagan and asked if he can achieve a lasting legacy in his second term through compromise with his opponents. Meacham said that he thought so because, like Reagan whose formative experience in life came from being a labor organizer and an actor, Obama’s background is that of a college professor. Professors, Meacham said, are able to ‘think in more complex terms’ and ‘reach more nuanced positions.’

Patriot Action Network: Uninformed Obama Voters Saying They Watched Inauguration Before It Took Place:

I don’t know if I should laugh or cry when seeing this video….

The Messiah tweets from church….

Twitchy: Wow: Obama tweets threat to finish what he started from church?

Church shmurch! Obama has tweeting to do! And, that he did. His Twitter feed tweeted the above threat to “finish what he started,” while he was at church.

***

The tweet was signed “bo,” which indicates he tweeted it personally. Media lapdogs have been squeeing over his church-going for the past two days. Perhaps they should have taken the time to explain church to him. And to Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards as well, while they were at it.

Even my teenagers know better than to do that.

Would that this breech of church etiquette had been the worst of it.

Gateway Pundit: At Church, Obama’s Pastor Calls Republicans “The Enemies” – Starts Chanting “Forward”:

Obama went to church today in Washington DC. His pastor used the story of Moses to call Republicans “the enemies.” And, started chanting “Forward!”
Ben Shapiro at Big Government reported:

At Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, Braxton reportedly crafted his speech around Obama’s personal political slogan: “Forward!”

Gateway Pundit: WILD! Rapper at Obama Inauguration Concert Tossed From Stage After Anti-Obama Rant (Video)

It was supposed to be all about hopey-changey stuff.
Instead it became an Obama bash when rapper Lupe Fiasco started trashing Obama.
That’s when security threw him off the stage and escorted him from the premises.

Remember way back in the day – when there was just one inauguration ball – and it was a dignified affair?

Twitchy: #Inauguralpoem: Obama Inauguration poem roundly panned; sparks hilarious Cantor face, haikus:

Oh, if only they had listened! But, no. There was a poem read at Obama’s Inauguration today. In case you didn’t notice, it was totally diverse and stuff, too.

Eric Cantor’s expression during Richard Blanco’s inaugural poem reading  exemplifies what conservatives are feeling, today…

The Right Scoop: Lay person delivering inaugural invocation omits “under God” from Pledge of Allegiance

For the first time in history a lay person gave today’s inaugural invocation and apparently didn’t mention God very much at all – even omitting “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance…

Ace of Spades HQ: The President’s Hyper-Partisan Inaugural Address:

Many commentators — on Fox — noticed how partisan the inaugural address was. The typical inaugural speaks in the broadest themes about the core of America, those things which are not generally disputed; this speech was more like a State of the Union, with a partisan political agenda and Designated Villains.

See, for example, Joel Pollack’s reaction at Breitbart:

Throughout his address, the President maintained his voice in a near-shout. This was not an historic address, a reflection on a moment in history; it was an exhortation to political action, in contrast to the political reality of a divided Washington, in defiance of the profound economic challenges still facing the American people. It was a declaration of political war on individual liberty.

Father Frank Pavone, LifeNews: Open Letter to Obama on Inauguration Day: Why I Can’t Clap For You:

Many Americans are praying for you as you are inaugurated today. I am among them, as I participate today in the national commemorative service for the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and join his family at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Yet when wild applause erupts today for you here today, I will not be applauding. When standing ovations occur, I will stand to honor my country and the office of its President, but I will not be applauding, because, I do not believe that you should be the current occupant of the White House.

When you were first elected, many rejoiced that yet another barrier had been broken for racial equality in our nation. I rejoiced with them. Yet so many African-Americans could have been — and can still be — elected to the Presidency who better represent and advance the principles on which our country was founded.

Instead, you so often violate them. Therefore along with the chorus of praise, I want to write this letter today representing so many of our fellow Americans who raise a chorus of concern, particularly regarding your stand on life, religious freedom, and marriage.

As I stated, I am here today with the King Family in Atlanta. That is because Dr. Alveda King, Martin’s niece, is a full-time member of my team at Priests for Life. She travels this nation bearing witness to the fact that the civil rights movement of today is the pro-life movement. We proclaim the principle behind the civil rights movement — namely, equality for every human life — and apply it to the children yet in their mothers’ womb.

There is No Trash Collection, Parking Tickets on Inauguration Day

I’m waiting for the first photos of the trashy aftermath to start appearing…because as we all know,  libs are the worst when it comes to picking up after themselves.

Twitchy: Trashy pics: Inauguration revelers leave behind massive carbon footprint:

Today was a day for liberals to celebrate, and that can only mean one thing: garbage — and lots of it. Revelers at Obama’s first inauguration in 2009 left behind over 100 tons of trash.

This time around, attendance was considerably lower. But there’s still plenty of stink emanating from Washington’s streets.

Michelle Malkin: MLK’s unfinished legacy and the fight for school choice:

In so many ways, the dream is still far from reality. I’ve said before that one of the areas of American life where Martin Luther King’s vision remains unfulfilled is public education. Teachers’ unions and government school protectionists have stood in the schoolhouse door, blocking innovation, competition, and parental choice — leaving minority children and their families to languish in some of the country’s worst schools.

School choice is a civil rights issue, if not the civil rights issue of the 21st century in America.

Americans of all backgrounds, colors, and political parties will unite across the country next week to mark National School Choice Week.

Mike Adams, Townhall: Kids Write Obama on Abortion:

I’m getting sick and tired of the Obama administration using children selectively in order to help the president advocate his public policy positions. As I sat and watched his recent press conference, I finally understood his opposition to the Iraq War. It seems he and the late President Hussein are kindred spirits who share more than just a name. They share a sick penchant for using children as human shields in the middle of war. And make no mistake about it; America is currently at war with itself on many different fronts. As I sat and watched Obama surrounded by little human political shields, three things struck me as being especially hypocritical:

1. Just a few years ago, the president would have supported murdering all of those children by dismemberment.

2. The president would have classified their dismemberment as “health care” within a comprehensive reform package necessary to preserve the well-being of children, and finally

3. All the children at the press conference were protected from being murdered at that particular moment by government agents carrying concealed weapons.

Katie Pavlich, Townhall: Eric Holder Displays Extraordinary Hypocrisy on Gun Control:

Attorney General Eric Holder spoke at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Friday and said the following (numbers are mine):

“This unspeakable tragedy but also the individual tragedies that take place on your streets and all (1)too often unnoticed stand as stark reminders of our shared responsibility to address not just the epidemic of gun related crimes and the (2)ongoing need for vigorous enforcement of our laws but also the underlying conditions that give rise to gun violence. Throughout our history, the overwhelming majority of American gun owners have been responsible, law abiding citizens, yet (3) we have repeatedly seen in the most tragic ways how easy it can be for dangerous people to acquire and to wreak havoc with deadly weapons. Although there is no single solution that can bring a decisive end to this senseless violence, it’s incumbent upon each of us to try and it’s time to consider (4) what common sense steps we can take together to save lives. This means (5) doing everything that we can to secure the tools and resources we need to keep guns out of the hands who are not and should not be allowed to possess them.

My rebuttal to statements in bold above:

(1) While Holder prepares to use all the powers of the Department of Justice and ATF to push through President Obama’s new gun control agenda, he is more than happy to ignore Operation Fast and Furious. As a reminder, this was the DOJ program that allowed the deliberate trafficking of military style assault AK-47s to violent Mexican drug cartels south of the border. Let’s not forget Holder has not only refused to cooperate with Congress when it comes to turning over documents about the lethal scandal (death toll is 400 people and counting), he’s asked a court to indefinitely hold documents requested by Congress and through FOIA.

Protein Wisdom: Josh Marshall wants you to know that an unwillingness to keep and bear arms is a virtue:

After all, he pays taxes for police and a standing professional army, does he not? He’s covered. So for him to get his hands dirty — and that’s what gun ownership is, a kind of uncouth, quasi-racist filth caked to the paws of those anti-commonsense gun-nut extremists we’ve been hearing from lately, who watch too many movies and fantasize about using their firearms to protect their families or communities (like that ever happens), or who think the 2nd Amendment is a check on government (like a government would ever turn on its largely disarmed people) — why, that’s just not who Josh is. He is above such tawdriness. Removed from such gauche, manual considerations.

Rather, Josh is proud that he, as a member of the civilized, educated class, has put the onus of protecting his family or community or even some nearby innocent from immediate threats in the hands of law enforcement and the military alone — often in contradiction to state constitutions, I might add, which either adopted or served as precursors to the USC for what comes to count as a militia, with distinctions being drawn between the professional militia, the ready militia (able males 17-45 and those who wished to become citizens) and the reserve militia (everyone else, including women and chilren). Or “the people,” all of whom were expected to defend the country should the need arise.

That is to say, Marshall is overtly proud that he’s surrendered his duty as a first responder for himself and his family and, in extremis, his community or nation, for the cheap grace of claiming no taint from the demon metal / polymer killing machine so fetishized by those who don’t recognize that arms are for hugging (and aborting fetuses), not for the pleasure or yahoos who believe themselves some bulwark against imaginary tyrannical evil. Besides, everyone knows the best weapon is an ostentatious new law coupled to a good, hearty Twitter sneer campaign. Drop bon mots, not bombs!

Life News: Planned Parenthood Botches Abortion, Tries to Hide Victim:

The Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in St. Louis has botched yet another abortion — its fourth recently.

As paramedics tried to place the injured woman in an awaiting ambulance for transport to a local emergency room, Planned Parenthood abortion clinic staffers attempted to conceal her from pro-life advocates documenting the injuries.

Gateway Pundit: Senator Rand Paul: Obama Administration May Be Involved in Guns-to-Jihadists Cover-up

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) suggested the Obama Administration may hve been smuggling guns to jihadist groups in the Middle East in a possible “international Fast and Furious” gun running operation.

Rand Paul was a guest on “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio” on Sunday night.

Washington Free Beacon: Valerie Jarrett Thanks MSNBC For Its Fawning Coverage Of Obama’s First Term:

Senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett took time to thank MSNBC for its coverage before her interview about his second term agenda ended on “Morning Joe” Monday.

“Thanks for covering it, and thanks for everything,” Jarrett said. “It’s been a good four years with you all as well.”

Newsbusters: NBC Hypes Republican ‘Disarray’ as ‘Bloodier-Minded’ Obama Focuses on Beating GOP in 2nd Term

A panel discussion on Monday’s NBC Today on President Obama’s second term quickly devolved into anti-Republican ranting, with correspondent Andrea Mitchell proclaiming: “It’s been so toxic that I think the President is betting that the American people…are really fed up with this. And that it will be in the Republican Party’s advantage to play somewhat toward getting something done.” [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]Special correspondent Tom Brokaw followed up by touting how the GOP “lost big time” in the 2012 election and declared: “Now the Republicans are in disarray, trying to organize their party so they have a future. And they’re going to have to deal with the reality of that as well. It is a party that is so broken into a lot of parts on the GOP side and there’s going to have to be a lot of mending done and then more outreach as well.”
A short time later, in the 8 a.m. et hour, New York Times correspondent Jodi Kantor eagerly told co-host Savannah Guthrie how Obama plans to go after the GOP in a second term: “The mystery that hung over the first inauguration is gone. We know exactly what he wants to do agenda-wise. And he’s also much – I love this word – ‘bloodier minded,’ somebody said to me, about beating Republicans.”

Speaking to Kentucky voters, McConnell said:

President Obama and his team are doing everything in their power to restrict your constitutional right to keep and bear and arms. Their efforts to restrict your rights, invading your personal privacy and overstepping their bounds with executive orders, are just plain wrong…I will do everything in my power as Senate Republican leader, fighting tooth and nail, to protect your Second Amendment rights.

New Zeal: Surprize!!! Top Communist Backs Obama “Gun Grab” Plan

A national leader of the Communist Party USA has come out in favor of Party “friend” President Barack Obama’s proposed gun restrictions. In a current People’s World website article  Fight to end gun violence is key to defending democracy,  Ohio Party leader, and Communist Party national board member Rick Nagin, openly calls for the trashing  of the Second Amendment, in favor of the “fundamental democratic right” to “live free from the fear or threat of gun violence”.
